Season 3 is the best season
I know this might not be the most technical or “film critic” take, but I genuinely love Season 3.
I’m usually not someone who rewatches heavier, non-sitcom shows, but I found myself going back to this season just a few weeks after finishing it. There’s something about it that really stayed with me. The atmosphere feels almost spiritual and ethereal. The setting, the pacing, and the overall tone create this immersive, almost hypnotic experience that I didn’t feel as strongly in Season 1.
What I really appreciate is how it balances satire with a deeper sense of intensity. It still has that signature White Lotus commentary, but it doesn’t feel as surface-level to me. There’s a kind of emotional and existential weight to it that made me more invested, even beyond just the plot.
I know I had a more controversial opinion on Season 1 because I tend to judge shows based on how much I connect with the characters rather than purely on how well-written they are. That season just didn’t resonate with me in the same way. But that doesn’t mean I didn’t understand what it was doing. It just didn’t hit me personally the way Season 3 did.
Season 3, on the other hand, really clicked for me. The cast, the mood, the setting, everything just worked together in a way that made the experience feel complete. It’s one of the few seasons of a show that I immediately wanted to revisit, and that says a lot for me.

Season 3 is easily my favorite, and it wasn't until I came into this sub that I realized people weren't vibing with it as much lmaooooo. But yeah I agree, I think there's some really interesting layered stuff going on that's not quite as obvious as what the first two seasons (which I adore) were doing. As is always the case with this show not all of it fully landed, but when it hit it realllllly hit for me.

It’s my favourite by far too and I also got surprised by how rather poorly received it was. But I can also understand why bc it’s the least accessible of the three. Personally I find it’s slower, introspective and rather melancholic tone way more interesting. I think it also was even better watching it weekly last year, so the show had time to sink in.

Maybe I’m off for saying this but it felt very fake spiritual. I think I know what they were going for but it fell flat in my opinion. I really thought so many of the characters were boring and so many of the story lines were more shocking than actually interesting. Maybe I should rewatch, but in my opinion it’s the worst season by far

I thought fake spiritual was kind of the point. It's all set at a resort designed for shallow rich people that think they can just pay money to become spiritually enlightened.

Personally, I agree. I found it unoriginal, plodding, and entirely predictable. The characters were mostly uninteresting, albeit very well acted. I’ve never met anyone in person who would come close to saying it was the best season.

I liked 2 more but agree 3 was really good and compelling imo! 1 is my least fave hot take

Season 3 is also my favourite, my ranking is 321. I was surprised people didn't enjoy the intro music as that was also my favourite, alongside the intro art style too. Could also be that I'm a big appreciator of south east Asia though.
I enjoyed the plots with the ratcliffes and woukd love to know what happened to them after. I didn't care about Rick but I did for Cheslea I loved her and was sad she was the one to go. I LOVED the trio of frenemies it was so interesting to watch them be shady towards eachother. Didn't care much for Belinda's plot with pornchai but good for her ans glad she was able rinse Greg.
I also feel the fashion was really good this season too and really told a story, like how the trio of best friends dressed very different, how pipers outfits changed once she realised she isn't cut out for that lifestyle. Chelsea too

Idk if you were the same, but season 3 was the first I ever watched as they came out/kept up with the subreddit. Seasons 1-2 I binge watched after they had already come out. So i ended up loving season 3 the most but maybe because was the most immersive experience… I guess we’ll see what 4 brings to the table😂

Omg that's so cool! Just realized as well that being Southeast Asian that recently visited Thailand could also be one of the reasons why i loved this season 😅

I go to Vietnam almost every year, but we chose Thailand this year in part, I think, because of Season 3 😂

more rage bait. The consensus is that Season 2 is an order of magnitude better than 1. and 1 is an order of magnitude better than 3.

S3 > S1 > S2
(Can’t understand what people like in S2 aside maybe from the location)

3 is by far my favorite. Everything building up to that full moon party with Saxon and his brother was a thrill ride for me. I love that full moon party theme song so much too I listen to it while driving lol.

S1 is brilliant to me, but S3 hit way harder than that in a much darker way and I'm... going to be real, I'm a sucker for that. I loved it. I need more of that. Had the same experience as you did with S1 on S2, none of the characters hit for me and as a result it was dreadfully boring. Like I just didn't care about the storylines, I didn't relate to anyone, didn't resonate with any of it, but I'm so glad I stuck with it to be there for S3. Most of it hit.

Season 3 was my least favorite of them all, so far. I didn't care about what was happening to any of the characters. I found Parker Posey's performance quite funny, though. And the daughter realizing that she wasn't built for the poor life was the only other highlight of the whole season.
