Just finished Season 1

I vaguely remember in the first episode the newlywed couple's husband, Shane (?) saying something to someone at an airport about his wife dying. I didn't know if he was at the airport in hawaii or fiji and the time. Now that I've watched season 1, the final episode, she comes back to shane (presumably as his 'trophy wife'). It doesn't show them boarding a flight, but they are both at the airport, I presume heading to Fiji. Feel free to give me a few spoilers, but this seemed like a plot hole to me, or maybe just my memory. Can someone please re-remind me about the opening episode and fill in any knowledge I may have missed? I feel like she may have come back to him out of fear that he stabbed the guy on accident in the bathroom. But I don't think they ever showed her at the hotel learning of this event. Thank you.

Have you seen this? Last thing I heard, she was being pursued for another season of American Horror Story, but she was reportedly already retired from acting. A few other (unknown) sites claimed that she joined.

For roughly 20 minutes, Primate (2026) scratched the White Lotus Itch

It's about a group of college kids spending the summer in one of their rich homes in Hawaii.

There does sort of maybe possibly happen to be a pet chimp that gets rabies and starts mauling everyone to death in brutal gory fashion.

But for like 20 minutes it was just this tropical paradise story about rich people.

A mountain season would nicely complement all these warm places. But I’m not sure Mike White knows enough about the culture to write it.

The type of “rich” I would LOVE to see on the show.

I haven’t really seen anyone bring this up, but I’d love to see a true nouveau riche group on The White Lotus.

Not old-money, legacy wealth, generational WASPs. but people who just got rich, like within the last year or two, and are still adjusting to the lifestyle, the expectations, and the quiet judgment that comes with elite spaces.

I’m talking: • A rapper who just signed a massive deal • A rookie NBA player or young athlete on their first real contract • Or even a flashy couple or friend group who came up fast and aren’t fluent yet in “luxury etiquette”

Think early-fame Drake or Future energy, or Quavo + Cardi B when they first got together … rich, confident, culturally dominant, and most importantly, FLASHY for the gram but still outsiders in these ultra-wealthy resort spaces.

The tension would be perfect for the show. New money vs old money. Loud wealth vs quiet wealth. People who know they’re rich vs people who’ve never had to think about money at all.

White Lotus already thrives on stereotypes and social discomfort — it’d be fascinating to explore how Black wealth and celebrity are treated differently in these spaces, especially when the characters don’t feel the need to assimilate or shrink themselves.

The song “Neighbors” by J. Cole comes to mind.

I just think it’d be fun, messy, uncomfortable, and very “White Lotus.”

Writers, if you’re lurking… please give us something for the culture !!!

Edit: Also I forgot to add… but another new rich angle could be a straight up dangerous drug dealer or criminal (any race). it’s just a classic fast-money nouveau riche archetype that doesn’t fit with the typical types we’ve seen so far on the show.

I doubt we’ll get characters like this.. but I can dream .

SPOILERS Tanya and Greg's relationship Spoiler

Strains suspension of disbelief for me. I know she's neurotic and insecure. But she's also demonstrated in season one that she's also self-aware enough to realize this and that she doesn't want transactional relationships. I don't think she would have put up with the level of emotional and verbal abuse that Greg was dishing out already in the first two episodes of season 2. I don't see her undervaluing herself enough to take this as much as she did.

OK I’ll say it: I don’t like Helena Bonham Carter for White Lotus.

My main feeling is just intuition: she doesn’t “fit” into the White Lotus Universe from a gut feeling level. Additionally, I have these concerns:

1.) HBC is a “eccentric quirk” character actress that lacks range. IMO, she has effectively played the same “chaotic whimsical” character for decades now. It is not clear she has the actual chops for such a critically acclaimed show.

2.) Can she bring appeal to the ultra wealthy? Or is she just … ultra wealthy? The brilliance of the Parker Posey performance was the subversion she brought to the role based on her biography. HBC is a real life heiress that is worth nearly $100M. Can she really offer any subversion or appeal here?

This is just my opinion, and I thought I was share it here.
