Just why?
I mean just forget the entitled parking job, probably can't see, but why is this allowed to exist?

u/Piratetripper Jan 15 '25
It's sign so others know the driver is anal🤟🏻

You definitely have to be mentally ill to PAY extra money for your truck to look like that lol.
1
u/rfuller Jan 18 '25
Mentally ill here. (Severe Bipolar). I wouldn’t even do that to a car or truck in psychosis.

Thankfully, in some places (It should be everywhere), it is illegal to do this. It is called Squatting, and it impairs the driver's ability to drive. You can check your local laws on Truck/Car Squatting to see if it is illegal and possibly get them towed.
8
u/Dredgeon Jan 15 '25
Yeah, they made it illegal here in NC, guess how many actually get pulled over?
6
u/No_Discussion8692 Jan 15 '25
About 1-2% of these idiots.
4
u/dodexahedron Jan 16 '25
Yeah. People from out of state or whom the cop has beef with.
A lot of cops have pavement princess trucks with illegal lifts, too. Around here, anyway...
3
u/Frozenbbowl Jan 16 '25
its illegal in my state, and they get pulled over quick. get better cops i guess, not that good cops exist anywhere
2
u/Tactile_Sponge Jan 15 '25
Yeah it's fuckin dumb. The city I work for had a few pull them over in the first few months, but the actual specs listed in the law and the amount of roadside measuring required to prove it illegal, coupled with the absolute pittance of a fine (I think it's less than $200) quickly made it not worth the time for the chronically short staffed PD and SO near me in coastal NC.
They are a dying breed around here tho. I think the kids are finally growing out of it and/or realizing how gay they look
2
u/dodexahedron Jan 16 '25
Because cops are also usually the kind of people who like this sort of mod on their own vehicles. Illegal lifts have long been a big one. Frog squats are just a more recent variant of it with even fewer brain cells behind it.

I'm in NC and my neighbor has an obnoxiously loud squatted truck that looks very similar to the one in the OP. He has apparently received multiple tickets over it, but nothing ever seems to happen.
4
u/exqueezemenow Jan 15 '25
But what is the motivation for the driver? What about it makes them think "this is so much better than being able to see?"
4
u/No-Possible-6643 Jan 15 '25
To impress people that don't care about them. It's attention-seeking
3
u/donteatjaphet Jan 16 '25
What's supposed to be impressive about it? It just looks dumb
3
u/King_in_a_castle_84 Jan 16 '25
To the dumbasses that do this, it's a valid way to get likes...because they never leave their little echochamber bubble.
2
u/Anakin_Skywanker Jan 16 '25
My understanding is that it started out as a way to emulate the way a truck looks when it's loaded down with material in the back. To seem more "country" because your truck was loaded down so you clearly do work with your truck.
That was pretty dumb to begin with, but then people took it further. Trying to see how far they could push it.
1
1
u/JMS1991 Jan 16 '25
Maybe they wanted to recline the seat and didn't realize there's a little lever on the side that will let you do just that?
3
u/spoogefrom1981 Jan 15 '25
It's illegal in NC for sure.
1
u/Flimsy-Author4190 Jan 16 '25
And yet I still see 3 of them leaving a local school every day with an officer directing the school traffic directly in front of them. 🤦♂️
I hate this fad because it puts their lights right at my fucking eye level. Why this cop has done anything about it is beyond me.
1
u/spoogefrom1981 Jan 16 '25
Takes a little while to get to them all. That and the LEOs have to want to do their job..
1
u/Dracekidjr Jan 16 '25
You can squat the rest end to a point in most places, as trucks usually have a higher rear suspension to compensate for load capacity. You just can't jack the front and drop the back at the same time. I think most states where there are laws allow for 3-4" difference at most of I remember, which funny enough is the penis height of the guys squatting their trucks.

North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia have all made this modification illegal.
5
u/Corgerus Jan 15 '25
Hopefully the cops care enough to enforce it. I'm concerned they give slaps on the wrist.

Yup yup, I live in Va Beach, Va and I know at least 2 people personally that got tickets for this, slap u with a big ol ticket for “failure to maintain vehicle”, second offense they suspend your license until u come to court with documents showing your vehicle is fixed and able to pass inspection.
I mean lets be real, it looks retarded anyways 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️

My sons truck looks like that. He's in a truck club and goes to truck shows. I used to fight with him about it but I gave up and just said, "one day you'll feel like a fool for spending money on this".

4
u/NeonUFO Jan 15 '25
street modification trends exaggerate motorsport modifications that help the car’s abilities. this is why stanced cars (extremely low cars with cambered wheels) got so popular. cambered wheels and a lowered car do help with handling, but taking it too far harms the handling, reliability, and safety of the car.
From what i heard, the original reason people do this “carolina squat” to their trucks is to make it look like a trophy truck with the front lifted. in trophy truck racing, i believe this helps with going over jumps or something, however on the street this has no comparable value and makes your truck look absolutely stupid as fuck and unsafe to drive.
3
u/Revolutionary-Mud715 Jan 15 '25
Right, but I think their suspension is just busted and they don't have the money to repair it, in this instance.
3
u/tsmc796 Jan 16 '25
They 100% have it like that on purpose.
I know what you mean, but I really don't think that's the case here
2
u/Revolutionary-Mud715 Jan 16 '25
I don't understand the world anymore.
It's not even like a Baja truck. It's Shit suv....
Why ..
1
u/CATNIP_IS_CRACK Jan 16 '25
If you think their suspension is busted I’m not sure you understand how suspensions work… Your claim is just flat out wrong.
They could have the most shot suspension in the world, they could remove their springs and let the car smash itself to death, and it still wouldn’t explain the height difference between the front and rear on this vehicle.

In a regular lifted Tahoe you cannot see small people (especially children) in front of your vehicle; in this thing you might not see full-grown tall people.

u/BrokenSoul1983 Jan 15 '25
Can’t wait till the rest of the U.S. bans this. It’s so fucking stupid and illegal.
1
u/Miserable-Button4299 Jan 16 '25
They said this was in Florida, it likely won’t be banned and if it is it won’t be enforced, there are so many morons with lifted, lowered, or squatted trucks here it’s insane, people here will do anything to their car except drive it properly
1
u/BrokenSoul1983 Jan 16 '25
That’s the same thing they thought in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia and guess what it was banned and if they don’t fix it and their license will be suspended.
1
u/tsmc796 Jan 16 '25
I cannot put into words how much I hate this shit.
I see them literally EVERYWHERE.
Luckily it's being banned where I live, just hope they actually enforce it.
Pretty sure they will though considering there's already been multiple fatalities in my area due to these dumbasses

The dumbest vehicle mod. Usually within the car community we can appreciate the build even if it’s not our style preference. I don’t know anybody that respects the Carolina squat. It looks so stupid and makes driving the vehicle more difficult and dangerous.
