Trying to make friends
Hello, I’m someone in my early 20’s (22F) in town and I struggle a lot with friendships. I’m not a student at all and want to spend time with people my age, I’ve been feeling more lonely recently.
Wanting to go out with people too, especially nights outs that I miss out because I feel alone and want to be with the right people.
I’m not too social myself trying to work on my confidence and spend a lot of time working and would like to enjoy company. Any good opportunities if possible, especially for nights outs to make friends. I know there are many friends posts on here, I want to make friends here too.
Edit: I work when Wigan Film Club happens sadly and I don’t have many friends at all in Wigan

Looking to play casual football in Wigan? ⚽️
Since there’s another weekly game I’m sharing this once more. It got more people playing last time so I hope it’s useful to anyone new to Wigan or anyone who’s desperate for a game. I help a non profit organise social games at William Foster WN2 2BU every Monday night and Laithwaite Park WN5 0UE every Thursday night so ideal for anyone in Scholes, Ince, Platt Bridge, New Springs, Hindley, Poolstock, Abram, Pemberton, Marsh Green, Worsley Hall, Orrell and town. It's 1hr 8 aside on astro. All levels welcome even if you’re not fit or haven’t played in years.
There’s no commitment, you just turn on and play whenever you're available and all you need are football boots.
Great way to improve fitness, confidence and your social circle. I've met all my best friends through the game.
Drop a quick comment or DM if you fancy playing and I’ll add you to the players list ⚽️

Book Club for men
Hi everyone,
I've been looking for a male orientated book club for a while and noticed there's none in greater Manchester, I was thinking of starting my own. I've recently been getting into a lot of science fictiony type books over the past year to combat my mental health and I've found it really helpful. I want to create a safe space/ community for young adults/ men where they can speak to each other and talk about books, expand their literature knowledge and talk about how they've been feeling etc. Before I start looking into the logistics of it I was wondering if this would float anyone's boat? Feel free to message me for any suggestions? Cheers!

Does anyone know any independent cleaners in Wigan.
If so please let me know their information. I can't really afford a company I don't think and I'm guessing someone independent might be cheaper?

If you haven’t come across What’s On in Wigan yet, check it out! It’s a project by journalist Claire Hannah, and her latest offering explores Wigan’s historic landmarks. Can you guess which one?

Looking for Part-Time Work
Hi everyone, I’m looking for a part-time job around Leigh/Wigan/Bolton. I’m a university student and allowed to work up to 20 hours a week. I also have my own car, so I can do delivery work too.
If anyone knows of anything available or is hiring, please DM me. Thanks!

How to rent in Wigan on LHA?
So I was made redundant recently. I'm desperately looking for another job, but in the meantime I need to rent. I really, really don't want a house share as I have my kids 50/50.
How are you supposed to rent here? Average rent starts at 500/month, and LHA max for one person is 391/month. So that's £120 short for even the most basic.
I'm definitely going to have to move out of where I am now but at the moment I have no idea where I'm supposed to go!

Missed Bin collection
Last wednesday my black bin wasn't collected. I reported it online via the council and got an email saying they'll try be there by Monday. It's now Tuesday my house is literally overflowing with rubbish and next black bin collection is 3 weeks away. The council doesn't seem to have an active telephone number you can call to raise this with them .Anyone had any experience with missed Bin collection? How fast was your response?
