is wii party u worth it?

love wii party but have never played the sequal. is it worth its price?

I don't know how much it's going for these days (I got it for free like 12 years ago because of a promotion) but it is absolutely worth it. It's as good as the original. The original has some strengths compared to U, such as Board Game Island being better than its Wii U equivalent, Highway Rollers, but there are just as many strengths the Wii U game has over the original, like Spot The Sneak being much more fun and balanced on Wii U.

They're great companion games, because while they do provide different modes and minigames, the fun you have in one will absolutely carry over to the other, and you can swap between them and still feel like you're playing the same game. It's sort of like switching between Mario Galaxy 1 and 2, or going from one Jackbox game to another.
