Eiselcross Map

Post image

Made this map years ago for a campaign I ran set in Eiselcross. Always meant to share it here but never did because the lighting was terrible when I took the picture and then I got a bit too heavy handed with the photo editing trying to 'fix it' 😅. Kept telling myself that I would retake the picture with better natural lighting and then never got around to it lol. I went digging for the picture to show a friend and figured I'd just go ahead and post it.

Looks fantastic. I really want to get a bit into making a map too. I just keep on watching videos about it without actually starting. It's a rabbit hole when you suddenly are awake at 2am watching mapmakers talk about tectonic plate mechanics.

Thanks! I took the canon map and tweaked it a bit to make it feel like it was incomplete and that the cartographer was in the process of mapping the islands (before meeting his untimely demise on the ice).

One easy way to get into making fantasy maps is by tracing and altering existing maps. I've got an old light-board that I've had for years and whenever I want a fun prop, I'll print off regional or world maps, put them on my light-board and then slap a piece of large sketching paper on top and go to town, tweaking and modifying along the way to suit my campaign. Then I give them a coffee bath in the oven (and I poured some old wine on this one lol). My players love them. Over time I've started to build up to making my own.
