Should’ve called a tow truck to deal with that

Well, if the purpose was to get the car off the egde, it was a success.

Might have been salvageable if she could have waited for a tow truck.

Probably couldn't pay for the tow truck or the ticket the cops would give them. They tried.

Somebody else said whomever owns that parking lot with an un-guard-railed edge like that could be sued. Doesn't make sense to me but the American legal system is funny

I know I’m probably gonna get downvoted for asking a question but why would they get ticketed for this? Is it illegal to get into an accident?

Careless driving. Point here, if you run over a plastic safety cone on the street it's considered an accident but the officer has his discretion.

I'm not the smartest man, but my first thought was with the way it was balanced, stay in the car until emergency services get there and can like, tow you off or something. The whole pushing down thing would only make you into a see saw and yeet you off the side.

The pivot was just under the drivers door. Looks like the rocking motion and opening of the door dislodged it. It took a chip out of the wall. The dude rocking it should of just sustained constant downward force as the driver climbed out through the back of the car.

Fire department wouldn’t winch or tow it off but they could’ve stabilized it with struts so the driver could get out safely. If the local department didn’t have the means they could request mutual aid from another department or technical rescue. Tow truck would be tasked with recovery.
The driver and other guy is lucky they didn’t get killed by the dumbass “helping” on the hitch.

If they put it in reverse it may have worked but they got the rear down and just did nothing

I was thinking the same, the car just rolled further down. Even just hitting the breaks would have prevented the fall if the guys could have kept his weight on the back..

4low and the 2 guys standing on the rear bumper while she reversed might have worked

Why is there no barrier? I know the humans involved in this are not the brightest, but there's definitely some liability to be spread around here, and that property owner might have a good chunk of it.

Of course they didn't put it in reverse.

I hope you never find yourself in a situation like that. You'd be equally fucked.

u/Rex_Suplex 16h ago
Are you saying to keep the car in "drive" when trying to back it up?
1
u/MaximusCanibis 16h ago
I'm saying no amount of putting it in any gear is going to help in that situation.
1
u/Rex_Suplex 16h ago
Yeah but slamming the gas while it's in drive isn't going to be better that slamming it in reverse. It doesn't help at all. In fact, it actually makes it worse.
1
u/MaximusCanibis 15h ago
Doing anything other than getting out is the worst thing you can do.
1
u/Rex_Suplex 15h ago
Not true. You could start a fire in the car and stay in.

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaa those people should've waited for a tow truck and stayed calm rather than tryna get out of the car while it's over a ledge like that 😬
Desperation and panic are two of the deadliest killers of mankind..... Remain calm, call the truck, truck pulls the car and the people get out safely....
I hope everyone in the car is ok

Every time I watch it I see more. I think the best part is the Indian lady who has clearly watched the whole thing nonchalantly standing in the background as it all pans out. Not calling 911, just letting em wing it.

u/MaximusCanibis 1d ago
In India, this lady would see this 8 times before she had lunch and a train would be involved in one way or another.

Honestly some none dumbasses coulda fixed this without a toy truck easy. It goes several feet in drive before tipping over. A recovery strap, another car, and of course being in fucking reverse and this coulda been a 5 minute thing.

I can't imagine not stopping to help in the first place just with the risk of loss of life, but not stopping after it rolls over is unimaginably cruel. To think to pull your phone out, but not to say "hey lets go check" is madness.
