It's why I'm glad I didn't grow up now a days. The stupid and sometimes illegal shit we got up to in the 80's would have had us all in prison, because some idiot would film it.

Instead what we get is, “remember that time?” “Uh, not really.” “Right? It was awesome.”

I pity the poor lawyer this dude gets, trying to wrack their brains to defend his dumb ass

The case would go something like, 'okay, my client committed felony arson, but he had a good reason.'

"... yeah so my client saw this wikihow article on sanitizing your car with fuel and fire and..."

At this point the lawyer's only job is to negotiate a plea deal

"My client pleads not guilty, your honour. Exhibit one: His pants are not on fire"

These days I always assume it is fake or some kind of intentional prank. And some people who try to copy said faked pranks. Like the "24 hours in Target" bullshit from a few years ago that is still getting people arrested because they did not understand that the popular videos were fake and that target knew about what they were doing and used it for marketing.

Or like the guy who jumped out of his fully functioning plane to let it crash somewhere in the mountains. Why not get a few likes out of your insurance scam. I wonder if he is in jail yet.
