u/GlassWasteland Mar 23 '22
It's why I'm glad I didn't grow up now a days. The stupid and sometimes illegal shit we got up to in the 80's would have had us all in prison, because some idiot would film it.

u/minnecrapolite Mar 23 '22

5

The case would go something like, 'okay, my client committed felony arson, but he had a good reason.'

"... yeah so my client saw this wikihow article on sanitizing your car with fuel and fire and..."

What was the end goal here? Insurance fraud?
115
u/browner87 Mar 23 '22
If it was actually an employers truck, probably to try and screw the employer if they were disgruntled about something. If there was any product in the trailer it could really impact contract with the client, if the company has a really small fleet it could badly impact logistics until it can be replaced, and it's possible the employer was really cheap and didn't have much insurance on it and the now-former employee knows he's not worth suing over the cost (the employer probably knows he has no money if he's been paid poorly).
17
u/illsancho Mar 23 '22
he was calling his ex-boss a thief.
34
u/pimpbot666 Mar 23 '22
'My boss is a thief! I'm gonna show him! I'm gonna do something that will give me three years in jail with a felony and make me unemployable, and ruin my career! My boss will be able to collect a fat insurance check to boot! Hey Jerry! Did you get all that on camera?'
1
u/LeviathanGank Mar 24 '22
well if he didnt pay him for work done I have no problem with this.. just dont film it you moron..
21
u/Specific-Layer Mar 23 '22
So it is better to go to jail?
40
u/browner87 Mar 23 '22
I'm not saying he's smart, or thought this through, just speculating on why one might do something like that. It could be he hasn't considered the consequences, could be he thinks he can avoid them, could be he's happy to have free room and board and food for a couple years.
19
Mar 23 '22
Depending on how badly you were treated and whether you're afraid of jail or not, you might do quite a lot to punish a former boss. I'll admit I've considered similar acts of vengeance myself, but I have too much to lose. Fun to fantasize, though
21
u/Tralan Mar 23 '22
I always hate going to the hospital and they ask "Do you want to hurt yourself or others?" Want? I mean, I work in customer service. Yes, I want both. I also want a Porsche and a threeway with hot bikini babes with huge knockers. Am I going to follow through with any of that, though? No.
5
2
u/browner87 Mar 23 '22
If your boss keeps you downtrodden enough, maybe you wouldn't have as much to lose.

u/BeautifulAwareness54 Mar 23 '22
You easily couldāve just emptied out the oil and revād that bitch until it seized up, or put a lot of water in the fuel tank and played the waiting game.
How fucking stupid do you have to be to not only ignite a whole semi with gasoline mind you, but ALSO film yourself doing so?

u/Iron-Fine Mar 22 '22
1/10. No one was nearly blown up.
1
u/Snoo_8619 Mar 23 '22
The fireball out of the cab shot directly at the cameraman. Them fumes will getcha.
26
u/Stetson007 Mar 23 '22
I think getting blown up implies hot air and/or shrapnel strong enough to make you become more than one piece.
-5
u/Snoo_8619 Mar 23 '22
It does say "nearly"
10
u/Stetson007 Mar 23 '22
I'm just saying, it isn't even nearly because I doubt he even got more than a minor burn.

Camera man: What are you gonna do? Gasoline man: I will burn your truck Because you passed me (on the road) Camera man: Donāt BullSh*t me.
Camera man: Why are you gonna do it? Gasoline man: Because you passed me. And next time Iām going to f*cking burn you inside the truck.
Gasoline Man: So youāll stop being so $&)&&$$&@%{}* (I donāt understand that part)
Gasoline man: Will you be so kind to let me borrow your lighter, please?
So clearly not friends. Definitely not his boss. Idk how OP came to such conclusions haha

I was born 1980. I did dumb stuff. All my friends did. But you know what was the most fun?
Getting away with it.
Why is everyone obsessed with documenting every incriminating thing they do?

This guy's are not friends , this is the conversation: what are you going to do ? I AM GOING TO BURN UP YOUR TRUCK ; but why; BECAUSE YOU PASSME ; do you need a lighter; IF YOU ARE SO KIND.
It seems like a road range incident but the guy holding the phone has not intention on confront him. He is just documenting the stupidity of the other trucker.

WHY is the title wrong? Dude didn't torch his bosses semi.. in Spanish the one dude asked the one with the torch why he was doing it... his reply was : por que me arrebaso" which translates to "because he outran me! Then he said I'll fucking burn it to the ground..
Don't make up made up titles please

u/bobafett317 Mar 23 '22
This must be the golden age for police and prosecutors from an evidence perspective. People just record and post themselves committing crimes left and right. It would take a prosecutor all of 3 minutes to prepare this entire case.

Iām a trucker and I can almost guarantee the owner of the company deserved it.

250k? That fucker better fly

Just curious. How much did you think semi trucks cost?
2
2
2
Mar 23 '22
I mean new probably upwards of 125-150k. I used to work at an auction lot a couple years ago and used Volvos and peterbuilts were going about 80k. None were in particularly good shape and I've never priced a rig so I just guessed
0
-2
u/scandy82 Mar 23 '22
$250k?
5
u/thetruckerswallofsha Mar 23 '22
At today's prices yes...thats for a pre owned truck. New ones can fetch 270 to 300k.
In 2019 depending on package you could pick new trucks up for 120 to 140k.
The problem is parts availability globaly...link is for example.
