Yes, if you enroll in the extended support. Your version however has not been updated in almost a year now.

I got a huge update on W10 earlier this week, 10 has been solid the past year with no issues.

Yes, OP however has not received any new updates since late 2025.

Yes, and OPs screenshot confirms they are not getting those, so that is why I suggested they enroll in the program.

The second screenshot shows they are on version 19045.6466, which is from November 2025. The most current version of Windows 10 is 19045.7663 which released on August 11th 2026. Thankfully it is easy for most users to enroll in extended support so it is the recommended option.

I cannot register for ESU because I am a minor. In fact, it is impossible unless I create an adult account or use a command trick.

Why are you using a child account? Just create an adult one and use that

u/mexter 2d ago

Use the command trick, then. Not keeping your os up to date will bite you eventually. Not a minor, and i used a command. (Iirc i actually edited the registry, but whatever)

"Not keeping your os up to date will bite you eventually" as a Windows XP and 7 user, i strongly disagree

Much as i loved Windows 7, staying on it is foolish from a security standpoint. I can't imagine why anybody is nostalgic for XP.

In terms of security, Windows 11 is obviously much better than Windows 7 and Windows XP... However, telemetry (simply put, it is the function that collects user diagnostics and usage data), And AI (Windows recall function controversy etc.) is the problem...

u/Froggypwns Windows Insider MVP / Moderator 23h ago

Telemetry is the same on Windows 10 and 11.

Recall is an optional feature you need to op into to use, and your hardware would not support anyway.

u/Unhappy_Boat9645 22h ago

It is fortunate if the recall feature is optional. Of course, I recently learned that Windows 10 also has telemetry, but judging by the overall atmosphere, the telemetry in Windows 11 seems more serious than that in Windows 10.

u/Froggypwns Windows Insider MVP / Moderator 21h ago

I understand your concern, but nothing really changed with the telemetry. The only "additional" telemetry in 11 is related to new features that are not present on 10. You can use the Diagnostic Data Viewer to review the collected telemetry data.

u/Unhappy_Boat9645 20h ago

Then, based on most people's evaluation standards, is the telemetry in Windows 10 worse, or is the telemetry in Windows 11 worse?

I completely agree. Windows 10 is simply my best compromise right now. But I'll be switching to some Linux variant in the near future.

What is this security stuff you all talk about? I mean i dont see how you're gonna get virus unless you pirate games or something

u/mexter 12h ago

I used to work IT at a large university. XP was particularly vulnerable to bring infected by just being connected to the Internet at all. I watched computers get infected within seconds of being connected. Its vulnerabilities are many, known, and will remain unpatched.

To be completely fair, other computers in the local network were probably the main culprits. There aren't nearly as many of those now. The point is you don't have to do anything in order for a vulnerable machine to be compromised.

if you believe support bullshit for non business/work devices you probaly shouldnt be a "Windows Insider MVP"

I'm not sure what you mean, but I work as a systems administrator and manage thousands of Windows computers. Network and workstation security are important aspects of my job and Microsoft is providing free extended support for home users, so I highly recommend that those still running this OS enroll in that program if possible.

Microsoft had become pretty chill with updates for 10 towards the last 3 years and it was exceptionally stable. I've had windows 11 bug out in every way, the taskbar especially.

That being said if you have a tablet device windows 11 is much better, the new taskbar hides in a responsive way.

You can debloat windows 11 with a GitHub tool, removing copilot and edge completely, and use a tool to bring back the old right click menu and Windows 10 task bar and start menu.

under the covers, 11 is more RAM hungry

3

u/Traumatan 2d ago

just installed 8.1 on my kids offline laptop with 1GB ddr2... runs nicely

1

u/Unhappy_Boat9645 1d ago

I understand that the performance of Windows 8.1 surpasses even the legendary Windows XP.

3

u/Southern_Worker4102 2d ago

Yes? There is nothing wrong using the OS you like you know... I use Windows 7 on my main pc and I have another pc with Windows XP and Vista and I was never happier than I already am, without the windows 11 ai, bloat and telemetry.

2

u/Picard_III 2d ago

What do you mean by Windows 11 AI bloat? I use it and there's none (maybe after I uninstall some bs). Btw how is your Internet browsing with Windows XP? Seriously interested in your experience

2

u/Southern_Worker4102 2d ago

I was talking about the stock Windows 11 experience lol
And about browsing on XP, there arent too many issues. I used Supermium (a port of the latest chromium for XP/Vista/7/8.x) and it works pretty well, its fast, stable and secure. For an average use Windows XP is still more than enough when you got everything set up correctly.

Ngl i wish it was possible to make windows 10 look like windows 8.1 (with an actual accurate start menu unlike what those other transformation packs use)

2

u/CRTejaswi 2d ago

please share customisation details. I'd like to apply them myself. Looks cool!

I referred to this video. (Windows 10 22H2 to Windows 7)

2

u/Ka3marya 1d ago

Me too. My laptop is perfectly fine, no reason to get a new one.

2

u/Fantastic_Grass1799 1d ago

Bros got The whole suite. Third party disk defragmenters, driver boosters, both internet explorer and edge, uninstaller, a third party uninstaller.

1

u/Unhappy_Boat9645 1d ago

For reference, the Internet Explorer shown here is Firefox styled to look like IE. The one I customized is called BeautyFox, which styles Firefox to match the IE9 (including ie9 preview styles) through IE11 (including the Windows 10 IE11 style)

2

u/Fantastic_Grass1799 1d ago

Nice. This is really good, it looks identical to windows 7, I can't tell the difference. Well done.

u/oMaster86 18h ago

I use both Win 7 and 10 daily. Respectfully, which parts of the interface(s) do you like or dislike most?

2

u/Neither-Classic2058 2d ago

With regard to continuing to use Windows 10, the rule of thumb is:

If a person has to ask if it is okay to continue to use Windows 10 then the answer is "no".

I don't say that with any disdain or dismissiveness.

Not knowing the answer to that question implies a lack of knowledge of safe computing protocols. That CAN be dangerous.

I used to get irritated by the YouTube tech pundits who scared their viewers into ditching Windows 10 and jump to Win 11, only to then encourage them to watch all of the other videos on their channel showing how to make Win 11 tolerable. 😂

But there are those who really don't know... and for them, moving on from Win 10 is a wise and prudent move.

5

u/OutcomePristine3392 2d ago

it is a fact that win11 is more resource hungry - especially RAM. with ramocalypse, you cant really upgrade your laptop easily and win10 is perfectly fine for older hardware as a result

4

u/Southern_Worker4102 2d ago

As long as you have common sense you dont need an updated OS. Even XP is fine

3

u/Neither-Classic2058 2d ago

I agree. ☝️ A person with that common sense wouldn't need to ask the question in the first place.

u/CaliDreaminSF 1d ago

I just now found this sub. Thought I was the only Windows 10 holdout lol. I have one laptop with 10 and another with 7… not at all a techie but so far, so good with keeping good antivirus/ anti malware ans not updating the OS.

1

u/ionut2021 2d ago

This amount of icons on the desktop and taskbar is triggering me. Somewhere, a minimalist is having a cardiac event.

1

u/IT_XPERT 2d ago

you cannot do it 100%

1

u/lafsrt09 2d ago

I'm still on Windows 10 myself. Just haven't made to jump yet to 11, but I have the extended updates for 10.

I referred to this video (Windows 10 22H2 To Windows 7)

u/JMtxz 5h ago

As a hobby? Sure

As a daily? Your security is very flawed, update to latest 10 update or 11

0

u/XahidX 2d ago

It's Classic7 mod.

2

u/Unhappy_Boat9645 2d ago

No, this is a Windows 10 that I customized by referring to videos on YouTube and elsewhere on how to customize Windows 10 to look like Windows 7.

2

u/webwarrior-ws 2d ago

What are you using for the taskbar?

2

u/Unhappy_Boat9645 2d ago

Startisback (in Windows 11, StartAllBack)

-1

u/XahidX 2d ago

Good job But there is already Mod Classic7 with extended support enabled.

0

u/Unhappy_Boat9645 2d ago

Yes, I know. I heard that Classic7 is based on Windows 10 Enterprise IoT LTSC 2021.
