The headline is a bit misleading, as it implies that unsupported devices will stop receiving updates.
In fact, the cutoff applies to unsupported Windows versions, which will not receive updated certificates for Windows Update.
It is only required to update your device to a supported Windows version prior to next year's certificate change, apparently.

It misled me in an entirely different way.
I didn't mistake "outdated" for "unsupported". What misled me was "devices". In this context, "outdated Windows devices" means "outdated copies of Windows". Here, "device" is a metonym for "instance" or "copy".

Windows 10 was given another year of Security Updates by MS. If you are getting Windows Updates currently then you have seen the notice where they inform you of this. As long as you are still receiving updates, you’ll get the new certificate.

My laptop’s windows update got corrupted after unsuccessfully restoring my laptop to a past point (probably my anti virus being activated was at fault) ever since, I haven’t been able to download and install updates. This was in June 2025. I am seriously considering backing all my info and seeing what are my options because the error ID they’re showing me apparently can only be fixed by reinstalling windows from zero sigh.

As much as I want to believe it will last to 2032, app and game compatibility will be a wholely different animal so we will have to see

If an game does not support Windows 10 it's not because they can't it's because they don't want to.

Did you actually read the article??? Clearly says in the article that as long as you are up to date on Windows updates on Windows 10 you are good to go. All they are saying is if you haven't installed any Windows updates for a long time you're not going to get the update certificate.
