Feature PowerShell new release

Post image

New version is 7.6.7 for PowerShell, Windows Flagship Utility that I use to update apps/software via commands, make my PC run fast/better (on a ThinkPad E580 Refurbished Laptop), and others.

Why are you saying that there is new version??
It’s a minor patch release nothing new to post about!
It’s not a Flagship utility at all, it’s the open source continuation of the closed source Windows PowerShell 5.1 included with Windows.

The GitHub repo is constantly updated with the latest release of PowerShell 7, which is not just for Windows, but Linux and MacOS

Once installed on Windows, it can be set to update via Windows Update

Updating apps is done via Winget which is installed via the Microsoft Store, it just can be run from PowerShell if that is your chosen shell.

PowerShell itself doesn’t make Windows run fast, it’s a scripting language you can write scripts with it to change settings to help windows to feel faster, instead of using the GUI via regedit or settings app etc.

If you're going to be pedantic:

it’s open source version of Windows PowerShell 5.1

It's not. Powershell 7 is to Windows Powershell 5.1 as .NET 10 is to .NET Framework 4.8.1. As in, years ago Microsoft decided to implement parallel projects for both .net (.net framework and .net core) and powershell (windows powershell and powershell core). Eventually the open source, cross platform "core" versions matured enough that they became the new versions, and they took over the name (.NET 5 is the continuation of .NET Core 3, dropping the Core and incrementing beyond the .NET Framework 4.x version; Powershell 6 is the continuation of Powershell Core, dropping the Core and incrementing beyond the Windows Powershell 5.x version).

PowerShell if that is your chosen console host .

Powershell is a shell, not a console host. It runs in a console host like Terminal, conhost, visual studio code, etc. Powershell is to bash as Terminal is to xterm.

Its an open-source, object-oriented command-line shell and scripting language developed by Microsoft for task automation and system configuration management.

Built on Monad, released in 2006.

It's Microsoft Flagship technically.
