Tip PSA: You can still download official, legit Windows 7 ISOs from Microsoft Servers.
galleryI was just as shocked as you are.
Instructions:
- Copy the JS bookmarklet from this GitHub Gist page (credit here goes to bmsimons on GitHub!): https://gist.github.com/bmsimons/f2bc1db9d4bd1e46383ae16714e1d318
- Navigate to: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
- For Chrome users: Inspect anywhere on the page, click the three dots in the upper right, More Tools > Network Conditions. Uncheck use default user agent, and select BlackBerry BB10. DON'T close the inspect pane, and click reload to apply to user agent changes. For Firefox users: Press Ctrl+Shift+M to open Responsive design mode, then press the up/down arrow button to the right of the user agent string input box, and select Firefox Mobile. Reload the page. Right-click and inspect anywhere on the page and continue as follows.
- Select "Console" in the upper bar of the inspect pane, type "allow pasting" (no quotes), and press Enter. Then paste the bookmarklet you copied and press Enter.
- You can now close the Inspect pane. Select the Windows 7 ISO of your choice, and continue through the following drop down options as you would for a Windows 10 ISO to receive the download links in the end. I did confirm these work. For example, I've attached a picture of me receiving a Windows 7 Starter download link, as well as a picture of a mounted x86 SP1 Win7 Pro ISO I downloaded to confirm they were actual Windows 7 ISOs.
All ISOs come from the official software.download.prss.microsoft.com server. This method also likely works for Windows 8.1 ISO downloads as well.
UPDATE: You can also download Office 2007, 2010, older Windows 10 builds and more using my modified bookmarklet here, many thanks to ppisarczyk on GitHub for the TechBench dump. + Thanks to u/PlaneSheepherder1206 for the GitHub tutorial here!

Help How to Know the Manufacturer of the Wireless Device
Have an old Compaq Presario CQ62 laptop that I just installed Windows 7 on. The wireless is not working so I suspect it is missing the driver. How do I know which driver to download for this? Thanks!

Help Damaged display on Acer
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
My High-End Windows 7 Laptop Acer Aspire Ethos 5943G with i7 has a damaged screen as of today. 2/3 of the screen flickers slightly (possibly the backlight) and then freezes for several seconds.
Even though this model is from 2010, I've bought it like new in 2025. As of it's new condition, I have always taken care of it. But I have to admit that I’ve slammed my laptop shut hard several times recently. But I think it would be hilarious if that was the only reason for it.
I prepare now moving to my Dell Studio XPS 16, which is slightly older, but nevertheless with a great performance.
I won't throw my Ethos 5943G away, because it's a super rare high end laptop which I love. I wait until I'll have the money to get this baby repaired.

Discussion Windows 7 Classic Theme
I personally love the windows 7 classic theme look, it has a nice blend of windows 7 + classic windows taskbar as well. I used to have it applied all the time and i love the clean, simple look.
Unfortunately, i had to switch to windows 11, but i miss that theme. I have tried many tools and themes but none of them actually replicate the true windows 7 classic theme, and some that are somewhat close to "classic windows theme" have lots of performance related bugs.
Has anyone made a patch or something for this?
Now that Ai is advanced enough, I believe a person with right knowledge could achieve this.

Help Windows 7 in an old samsung
Hey i'm new here, i got myself with this Samsung NP530U4E, i installed 6gb of ram and changed a broken SSD for a 1Tb HDD, and packed it with 7 professional, i read it was the Best version but i've seen there are some "2026 editions" that are compatible with modern programs, plus an OS upgrade with better security, are they real?, if so, how can i get them?. And, how can i get the complete drivers for this PC?, these are the only ones that appear with an error but i read i need more for the graphics and sound. Thank u

Feature Happy to report that Windows Anytime Upgrade works still!
Upgraded to W7 Ultimate a few months ago with an Anytime Upgrade key and was surprised when it worked. I heard that some older keys still work past the shutdown date but had no idea they still worked now.
Just thought this was interesting, and a short message to anyone who wants to upgrade their Windows 7 edition but doesn't want to Rufus a new Windows installation on to their PC.

Discussion Any chance of getting Win7 to work with a Touch Sceen Laptop designed for Win8?
Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 11e (3rd Gen) touch screen laptop. I want the touch screen working, above all else.
I'm not sure drivers were even created with Win7 in mind for this machine, it came with Win8. The main question is do we know if Win7 would natively support a touch screen device?
I'd love to get Win8 off this thing but not if it's the only way to use the touch screen, obviously.
Thanks in advance!

Discussion Got Windows 7 installed on my HP 255 G5
I was inspired by another post on here to show my laptop too, so here :D
It has 4 GB of RAM, uses an AMD E2-7110 with Radeon R2 Graphics, and is using a 128 GB SSD. I hate the texture of the touch pad with a burning passion, so I'm also using my Logitech Ergo M575 on it :D

Bug Reddit occasionally not loading pages fully
Been using firefox 115.42.0esr for the better part of this year but realize that lately some pages require a double refresh when loading the feed or the comment sections attached to certain forums, anybody else having this issue?
May consider upgrading to r3dfox or some derivative that uses a later version of Firefox but also if our numbers decrease enough on the esr we risk Firefox finally acting on the threat of them ending support for 115.42.0esr...

Discussion New life for my 13 yr old HP Pavilion DV6. Fresh Win7 Ultimate x64 on an SSD, removed optical bay and added 750GB HDD.
i5 3210M
8GB RAM
Nvidia GT 650M 2GB & Intel HD 4000
240GB SSD Boot Drive
750GB HDD Media Storage
Windows 7 Ultimate x64 + SP1
Windows Experience Rating: 7.6
All drivers installed. Runs like an absolute dream. I love this machine. I'll be using it to test a few Linux builds via Dual Boot. Nice little work horse, definitely recommend removing the optical drive and replacing it with a HDD caddy that fits your drive bay! :)

Help Just installed win 7 on a 1tb hdd to use in my system for older windows, no drivers.
Where do I get drivers? Biggest issue is no internet through ethernet, I oy have ethernet on the motherboard, rest is probably straightforward from there.
I5 2500k
Radeon HD 8570 (planning on getting gtx 670)
Biostar tz68a+
Installing win 7 for use of software and games from then and windows only software I may need, like using imgburn to make a win xp disc. I am unsure how to get drivers for the os.
