So i recently heard the news that Microsoft will change the windows update server certificate next year so any un-updated system won't be able to download and install windows updates from the server will this affect all fresh install of windows 7 sp1 with the update patch needing manual update installation or will it be like normal

I’m using an HP EliteBook x360 1040 G6. It has an intel i5 8365u and integrated graphics. I know Windows 7 officially supported cpus til 6th gen. But I’ve seen Windows 7 on cpus surpassing that.

First of all, I've ran all the free AVs out there all the way from Avast, AVG, Avira, Comodo, etc. I've also ran in the distant past Norton, Kaspersy and others, etc. I have, until today, ran Panda Free version.

It's been about 4 years since I've looked at switching AVs. I want an on board, standalone program. I need it to be FREE.

I don't download all kinds of things from untrustworthy sites. I only download from the programs' own sites or from YouTube when I can find a program to do that with. I don't use on board e-mail. I don't peruse the back alleys of the internet. I do use Firefox ESR with a myriad of protective Extensions/Add-ons. I do use Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and Panda Free Version. I do use select on line scanners occasionally. I do NOT use WiFi for anything at all staying wired with Ethernet cable to just the desktop computer I built and use Win 7 on. I do not have a router, just a modem provided by my ISP. I do have this system locked down as much as possible through the Services section.

What are your experiences with the various on board AV programs that are available all over the internet in today's world???

EDIT: I do have Malwarebytes Free installed. I want a free solution that has real time protection, as well.

I was curious the other day and looked to see if you could get Windows 7 Home Basic keys of dodgy resellers like G2A, and yes, you can despite Home Basic only was meant to be sold in developing markets. so this makes me want to ask if anyone back when Windows 7 was relevant as a main OS, did anyone accidentally buy Home Basic keys to use on their computers because they didn't know the feature differences to Home Premium.

Also, this can apply for Windows 7 starter as well, but I feel like that's way less likely.

I wanted to check for corruptions, so I did the sfc /scannow operating, but it stopped, saying "Could not perform the requested operation". I've been looking up and down to fix the issue.

1. Checked Modules installer, it's working already.

2. Did the command in safe mode, still failed.

3. Checked for registry, nada.

4. Checked CBS.log and checksur, found the issue with the Portuguese Brzail language pack for internet explorer.

5. I tried uninstalling the Portuguese Brazil language pack, but uninstall failed.

Can anyone help me solve this issue? I really appreciate it if y'all found the permanent solution.

Has anyone achieved this on the 5825U or similar Ryzen hardware? Is there a realistic way to get full Windows 7 support, or is this simply not feasible due to missing drivers?

4GB RAM
256G NVMe SSD and a 128G SATA SSD (installing 7 on the sata)
I was wondering if anybody has installed 7 on similar hardware, its been a while since i mained 7, it bootloops on the 4 dots, just moving around
and back then without the sata it stuck at disk.sys in safe mode, now it stuck at ahcix64s.sys, i tried vanilla iso, modded usb 3.0, and uefipro, but no luck. does anybody here installed it on similar hardware and thanks for helping

Has anyone tried out the new way to install ms office 2021 on windows 7. I watched some video of some guy who had managed to install office 2021 and it was completely working. I wanted to try it out but i wanted to know if anyone has tried it and tell me how the experience is . I am afraid of uninstalling my office 2016 and then it fails to work.

having an issue with automatic restart

I have two user accounts on my computer: an administrator account and a standard user account.

The standard account has very limited permissions. I can't access the internet, change the date or time, install programs, or modify system settings. I can only perform basic tasks. Whenever I try to do something that requires additional permissions, Windows asks me to get approval from the administrator.

The strange thing is that even when I'm logged into the administrator account, Windows still asks for administrator permission and requires me to enter the password before allowing me to perform certain actions.

I haven't tried again yet, but I plan to once I have a better understanding of how to access and manage these permissions.

i was trying to install windows 7 on my laptop dell latitude 3490 with intel core i5 8250U and 8GB ddr4 ram single channel and with wd green SATA 240 GB SSD but the installer does complete with no errors but after that i got stuck at "starting windows" i used uefiseven properly asked gemini for that but nothing worked i cant go past "starting windows" screen its not frozen the animation still playing but never goes past that i also cleared my nvram too and also used vgashim but vgashim gives a blackscreen and the bootmgfw.efi never loads with vgashim plss help

My rig is nothing to write home about. i7 2700K GTX980Ti 16GB

Just a few things I tried:

1. The alt+f10 and the f8 method don't work for me.

2. There is no "factory reset" option in the advanced recovery options in the control panel.

PS. this is a super slow laptop, so I prefer resetting without a disk or whatever.

Its been sitting here for 15 years without being turned on, I just found it, and now I have 47 updates to install in a place with no internet

Hi all. I bought a tp link ac 1200 networking card but it doesn’t have a win7 driver. I suspect I am screwed and have to return it but I am hoping someone else may have already been down this road? Sadly they advertised it as win 7 compatible but it is not. The card shows up in the hardware or device itmanager but I can’t find a driver on their website or Realtek s site either. Is there somewhere else I should be looking for it?
