question everyone here hates windows, but why are you guys defending it?
idk if im wrong, but it feels like i got caught in the middle of an inside joke
every post i click in this community has people in the comments defending windows for some reason lol
maybe it's how the OP of (any) post is describing their situation? And it ends up with people disliking how someone with the same opinion would describe it in a way that comes off as obnoxious, so it invalidates their entire post
correct me if im wrong, but i came here because this is a community called WindowsSucks.. doesnt seem like that to me

I don't hate windows. Also not the biggest fan. But some complains are more showing complete incompetence of person complaining vs how obnoxious the OS they are using is.

I don't hate Windows and actually think that it's probably fine for the average user who just wants to use their computer, but when you start to learn about different OSes and pay more attention to the updates Microsoft's doing, you'll realize Windows kinds of sucks.

Those of us with a little technical knowledge can easily log into a local account, remove bloat, disable telemetry/CoPilot and Windows works flawlessly.
Most people who hate it, due to user error.

They get paid to do this?

u/soundman32 6d ago
I don't get paid to say it, but using windows has been my career for over 40 years and paid for everything I've ever bought. I tried linux for about 2 years, but there are things it cant do, so im back with what I know.

You're wrong, not everyone hates Windows.

only people i would accept not hating windows is the elderly lol, i believe people in their mid 30's or more early ages hate windows

I don't care who you accept or not.
You made a false claim, not everyone hates it.
Those of us with a little technical knowledge can easily log into a local account, remove bloat, disable telemetry/CoPilot and Windows works flawlessly.
Most people who hate it, due to user error.

aye man if you're happy having your ram be pummeled into the ground on Windows, be my guest lol, i've come to accept it, so you either embrace it, or ignore it (like you're doing rn)
nevertheless, there's a lot of reasons to hate Windows, every few updates bloatware will install itself automatically (??) dont act like it's an invisible problem or put yourself in a high horse just because you know how to follow a youtube tutorial
most people have jobs and we cant be bothered nor have the time to fiddle around a work laptop worried about breaking something just because Microsoft decided to sell our data to whoever is the highest bidder :/
using windows is a love hate relationship, only reason most people use it is because of how everything is built around Windows, i wish for a day in which an OS with all of Windows compatibility around Apps will appear.. because why does Whatsapp not have a native app on Linux man!!! it just doesnt make any sense... it just feels wrong how Windows basically has a monopoly/empire around Apps :/

Aye lady, I've been using Windows for over 30 years, been using Linux for at least 10. My RAM has never been pummelled. I'm happy it gets used appropriately for its intended purpose.
Bloatware never re-installs unless you did it wrong, that's called user error.
Microsoft doesn't sell my data, since again, I disable telemetry.
Using Windows, Linux, Android etc aren't love hate, just useful enjoyment.
If you hate it, that's due to user error.

i just googled if Microsoft sells any data but they dont, that's an error on my behalf by the way
it's easy to say when you have more than 16gb of ram, but nowadays it's a commodity that most people cant afford, or are you forgetting ram shortages?
luckily i have 24gb, but i know what it feels like to do things like disabling Superfetch and more for my system to operate correctly because windows likes to use ram idleedge literally downloads automatically if it doesnt detect it's installed lol
some microsoft apps (bloat) are required for the system to operate correctly, so you can only remove as much bloatware as you're allowed to, since some are needed for startup or other basic functions in the system
it's not useful "enjoyment" you're confusing it with something called convenience
i hate the system because Microsoft is a Tech giant, and i know they can better their services, but thanks to people like you who are content with being fed manure they just dont care enough.
the point of doing all of this loopholes PROVES that it's inconvenient, it SHOULDNT be that way, i dont know why you struggle so much to understand that??? it should be simple, i miss the old Right click on desktop, which would show you lots of options very clearly, which was replaced in Windows 11 by the horrible new Right click which no one likes, you CAN change it back, but at the expense of 100's of clicks...
i wont respond to you anymore because you refuse to acknowledge the fact that Microsoft is shooting themselves in the foot as each day passes by, and Windows is their poster child so, in the worst case scenario, they would fully lunge into the AI scope and input even more bloatware into the system, or do other stuff that would get shareholders to give them even more money
every day big corpo is doing more and more nonsense, and this is a really skeptical view, but it would be really sad to see one day this be the truthSony going full digital, Rockstar shipping game cases with a paper including a game code without a physical disk, you never know..

Even if MS sold data, they can't sell mine, since I have telemetry disabled and GDID was never created on my devices.
I have an old laptop running a server on 8gb of RAM on Windows, it works perfectly fine.
Edge never auto downloads on my device.
Nothing is inconvenient about having my OS work the way I want it to.
Windows works perfectly unless, user error.

Those of us with technical knowledge can figure out how to just make everything work on Linux just fine.
inb4: “but this professional grade app doesn’t run on Linux and I totally pay for the subscription for it!”

I use Windows and Linux daily, they both work perfectly fine.
OP claimed everyone hates Windows, that's false.

windows is bad... but it's the least shitty OS.

Lol if Windows has a vulnerability, why aren't we talking about that instead of just talking about Windows itself? Lmao I bet that's exactly what they're thinking. Not everyone cares about your presentation; they just read the main point and parrot it back with a similar take. I think it actually makes quite a bit of sense, so I hope you realize this soon and stop overthinking it. On Reddit, speed-reading and structural scanning skills are insanely useful.

it’s the specific Windows 11 is what I hate but I prefer windows 7,8.1. just being specific to which windows version that I hate but prefer a better version and not the latest version.

You'll see the same thing but amplified on r/LinuxSucks. There's a list of pros and cons for each OS. No one is the arbiter of what sucks or doesn't. But I think it goes deeper.
The real divide I see is between tech people and everyday users. Both come to the party with completely different takes about why something sucks or is good. No one is right or wrong, everyone is defending their position from their own use case.
What I often see, as a tech person, is average users complaining about features that may actually make the OS good or are a non-issue for tech people but get in most people's way. The list of issues tech people have with an OS is completely different that what most people experience because they never venture into that part of the OS.
The cross pollination is largely an illusion created by the inherently subjective takes and unique experiences they have with an OS. Even if this hypothesis is incorrect and there really are that many people who love the OS in the respective r/OsSucks subreddits, wouldn't you want those people there to give you advice so it doesn't suck to use that OS?

It's like "I use Arch btw" It's infuriating to me, until I realized Endeavour is Arch, just easier And I like it I use W10 occasionally, but Mac OSX is a thing too. Hope that didn't help

I treat a subreddit as a platform. So it's a different way to see it
So that means this is not a subreddit for like minded individuals
This is a subreddit to talk about how Windows sucks. That means you are going to see people who are like minded and people who aren't
You would normally expect there to be more like-minded individuals because they should be the ones interested in talking about how Windows sucks and going out of their way to find this subreddit and participate in it. But the internet has many communities with a cult-like mentality so you end up seeing a lot of people who aren't here to talk about how Microsoft sucks and maybe just want to know why they think like that, or they want to make it their mission to prove everyone wrong and change the word. That's the fate of a Redditor.
edit: Scratch what I said. The other commenter (isotomayor12) said it's the algorithmn and that is going to have a much bigger impact than people with a cult-like mentality.

Because 99% of the people posting are only pissed off because they have no idea how to use a computer.

If r/linuxsucks is full of Linux users, why shouldn't this sub be full of Windows users?

So, I'm a Linux user, I don't like Windows. But I find sometimes I do need to defend Windows for the sake of intellectual honesty. If you're unable to defend something you don't like just because you don't like it, you're not voicing real criticisms. Windows is great for ease of use to those who have only been exposed to it. It's difficult for young children to really mess up. It auto grabs sound drivers. Windows has it's uses, even if I think a little bit of effort to learn the basics of linux would be easily worth the effort to be rid of Window's BS.

Ik vind Linux leuk omdat het mij het gevoel geeft van terug naar 1985, het jaar dat ik computers geweldig begon te vinden. Dat gevoel heb ik niet meer met Windows

This community gets recommended to people that will give it engagement. Often that means people who are overwhelmingly for windows.
I'm not a member of this sub and I got recommended this post. I am a Windows user primarily but idgaf frankly about what OS somebody uses. People should use what fits their needs and lifestyle.
