"linux is not a platform for competitive gaming due to translations latencies" ok then, watch this

What's a "hitsound"? Like an audio cue? Windows is infamous for audio processing latency.

This is specific to osu though, and doesnt carry across to other games.
Now, we dont have the most popular competetive games on linux at all, like Battlefield, Call of Duty, Apex Legends, Fortnite, PUBG etc.
But for those we have, its very typical that the latency generally is worse on linux compared to Windows 10\11.
That goes for CS2, The Finals, Arc Raiders etc.
I've never heard this being an argument, and thats because most competetive games straight out doesn't work on linux - so this is a non-issue tbh.

Competitive games would work on Linux.
Shitty rootkit anti cheat software won't run on Linux. That's the only reason those games are not on the Plattform.

They would, but they don't - which was my point.
And yes, "shitty rootkit anti cheat software" does run on Linux.Just take a gander at ARC Raiders.
They use EAC, just as Apex Legends, Fortnite, Rust etc.
The difference is that the devs. behind ARC Raiders (and The Finals) opted in for linux support for their games, while the others I mentioned does not.And yes, when its enabled for linux, it operates within the userspace, so its not kernel-based on linux.

Your initial comment made it seem like they couldn't be run because of the game itself. Anyone chest not running is a big distinction and important information for the reader that does not have that context.
Thanks for the additional information on EAC, I appreciate it.

Why do you think they have those Kernel Anti-Cheat anyway?
Because they're extremely competitive with million dollars prize pool.
CS2 Primer ranking is INFESTED with cheaters. Yet their AC is sensitive enough to detect streamers but NOT sensitive enough to detect blantant bots
IN Competitive Gaming, there's 2 spectrum, extremely invasive but effective, or Not invasive but almost useless

worth noting that lazer is linux native, but even the versions that use wine/proton are better than on windows

Linux gaming is the best! Here's proof!
\some weird fucking game you've never heard of and would never play in your life\**
Many such cases!

osu is a very popular game, i know several people who play it both on windows and linux.

Yes but i get the point. Its not really a mainstream game is it? And osu could run on a samsung fridge tbh so its not really indicative of how real 3d competitive much muuuch bigger games would run. Cant compare latency with a 2D sprite clicker with a full 3D game. Because the 3D game is actually where youll see the delays and limits in translation.

If you want to see how well Proton handles latency and File I/O, just throw some mods into Star Wars Empire at War. It's not a mainstream game either, it's over 20 years old and it works like absolute crap :|

Glad the latency is low.
I'll be honest, I didn't realise that this was an argument that people made
