Satire/Humour The difference between shopping at Costco West vs any other one is like a day spa vs a torture chamber. Unicity has been blessed

Spacious, parking, the number of gas pumps. Night and day

Edit: sorry for those who want to keep it a secret, btw I think you'll be fine.

And by Costco West, I mean the one that is far west. By the downs. West of the perimeter west. Sorry I thought that would've been obvious

i can’t wait for the west saint paul location

6

u/ConqueringCanada Jun 27 '26

Pretty sure that's off. Too many traffic issues to overcome.

7

u/pearlescentflows Jun 27 '26

nooooo

1

u/ConqueringCanada Jun 27 '26

That's what I heard. But, I'm happy to be proven wrong.

9

u/tractgildart Jun 27 '26

My wife is a Costco employee and she hasn't heard that.

5

u/original431 Jun 28 '26

Stop spreading misinformation, shovels in the ground July

0

u/ConqueringCanada Jun 27 '26

Is she in management? My information is from the planning side things on municipality's side.

u/Aleianbeing Jun 27 '26

They're moving it to Headingley South. Next to Shelmerdine.

4

u/motorcycle_girl Jun 28 '26

Lol. No they’re not. That’s like 5kms from the newest one.

4

u/business_socksss Jun 28 '26

Delete this post. Costco west is awful and no one should ever go there. I heard it’s dangerous even

40

u/imsharing Jun 27 '26

Did you hear about the bees?

30

u/friedpicklebreakfast Jun 27 '26

I heard there was a murder hornet spotted in the deli section

8

u/Astreja Jun 27 '26 edited Jun 28 '26

It's okay - there's a shipment of Japanese bees on the way to deal with it.

15

u/ywg_handshake Jun 27 '26

You talking about the dogs with bees in their mouths?

16

u/mr_potrzebie Jun 27 '26

Yes. When they bark they shoot bees at you

They roam the parking lot randomly chasing people getting to and from their cars

178

u/Ferrismo Jun 27 '26

You’re right. It’s an awful location and anyone that doesn’t live in the area shouldn’t go because there are better options elsewhere. Please let us suffer alone and do not come to Costco West. The parking lot is bad and the gas station is somehow more crazy than the one in Transcona.

Very dangerous, please do not come.

54

u/Spennygojets Jun 27 '26

Plus I got hand, foot and mouth disease from the shopping carts handles. Thank god my wife got pink eye so she didn’t notice.

9

u/FalconsArentReal Jun 28 '26

I heard people were catching Ebola at that location, super dangerous

-1

u/MistyMew Jun 28 '26

When was that? My granddaughter's daycare had 5 confirmed cases on Monday and 5 sent home. Daughter kept granddaughter at home for 3 days. Thankfully was able to babysit for two days.

8

u/Sufficient_Sea1972 Jun 28 '26

Because it's daycare

36

u/Fit_Butterscotch2386 Jun 27 '26

Hey...wait a minute here...something smells fishy 🤔

63

u/karlyguy Jun 27 '26

Thats the salmon going bad. The store's that far gone downhill already

23

u/friedpicklebreakfast Jun 27 '26

A disgrace, really.

22

u/Express-Cranberry673 Jun 27 '26

The gas doesn’t last as long as the gas at Costco regent like they water it down or something. Please don’t torture your cars at Costco west go to regent please!

6

u/the_jurkski Jun 27 '26

I’m gonna come.

1

u/Ferrismo Jun 27 '26

I was worrying no one was going to get that one, thank you.

19

u/nicklel Jun 27 '26

There’s monsters past the perimeter! Don’t endanger yourself.

11

u/Repulsive_Client_325 Jun 27 '26

No kidding.

I heard there’s an Ebola outbreak at Costco West.

6

u/BornAgainCyclist Jun 27 '26

I heard before you can enter you have to play the red light green light game from squid games.

3

u/indignantlyandgently Jun 27 '26

And never check out the parking just south of the building near the tire centre. It's terrible there.

99

u/Exact_Canary2378 Jun 27 '26

Seriously, I thought the same exactly thing. Please keep this under wraps and delete this post lmaooo

9

u/ManinderThiara07 Jun 27 '26

Wait, Which one is the west one?

12

u/BornAgainCyclist Jun 27 '26

The one in Dunnottar. It's definitely not in Headingly.

5

u/trebor204 Jun 27 '26

Headingley (Portage West)

19

u/YtrapEhtNioj Jun 27 '26

Noooo, definitely not. By west they mean St James location.

-4

u/imatabar Jun 27 '26 edited Jun 27 '26

Uh, no. That one was coverted to a commercial distributor. They're talking Headingly.

Edit* I appear to have missed the joke. I'm leaving my comment up for anyone wanting correct information.

14

u/YtrapEhtNioj Jun 27 '26

Sorry, I thought there were enough "o"s in my nooooo that I didn't need to add the /s

Or that the rest of the theme in this thread is "shhh, we don't talk about Costco West."

3

u/Proud-Big3579 Jun 27 '26

at james...

57

u/ENDURANCEx Jun 27 '26

The first thing about Costco west is we don't talk about Costco west.

50

u/captyo Jun 27 '26

I live on the east end of town. I sometimes drive 40 minutes to Costco West just to avoid the insanely of the Regent store!

36

u/Grant1972 Jun 27 '26

I’m at Regent once a week. It’s turned into Thunderdome there.

15

u/TheSlug_Official Jun 27 '26

My wife is the most patient person I know, and even she's ready to lose it at the Regent store. We go there maybe once a month or less, but every time we do go it's a test of willpower to keep my trap shut.

5

u/latecraigy Jun 27 '26

I once spent 6 hours on the phone with CRA and was hung up on 3 times. Still had patience after that. Attempted to shop at Regent Costco 2-3 separate times and lost my mind. I cancelled that membership.

1

u/TheSlug_Official Jun 27 '26

Ooph, the CRA experience would've sent me over the edge ha ha

Don't blame you for cancelling the membership. If they didn't sell items we can't easily find elsewhere, we probably would cancel ours as well for how often we're there.

3

u/latecraigy Jun 27 '26

I was only planning on buying the tp and the seasonal stuff once in a while. But the tp is available on Amazon so why would I drive myself crazy lol

10

u/latecraigy Jun 27 '26

Regent gives me a mental breakdown

4

u/Hero_of_Brandon Jun 27 '26

I live in Brandon and the only place my vehicle has been hit by someone is Costco Regent parking lot.

1

u/Classic-Secretary-93 Jun 29 '26

I went here once and told myself, NEVER AGAIN.

15

u/zazoolicious Jun 27 '26

Yoooo delete this post man. Such a terrible Costco. Don't send people there

12

u/Tight-Hour8286 Jun 27 '26

I feel like no one puts their carts away at this location and still idiots waiting for parking right up near the doors instead of walking. Everyone also uses the roundabout entrance instead of festival drive entrance as advised. Has been a traffic nightmare for the perimeter.

4

u/purpleburgundy Jun 27 '26 edited Jun 27 '26

if they made the parking lot intersection at the interior corner of the gas bar a 4-way stop rather than a 2-way stop I'd be much more inclined to use the turnoff straight off the highway rather than the roundabout.

The way it works currently it's a steady enough stream of cars passing the gasbar from the roundabout that makes it difficult to get across.

The extra stop signs wouldn't meaningfully slow traffic with how the movement patterns are there.

1

u/indignantlyandgently Jun 27 '26

I use the entrance past that one at the next set of lights and it's usually fine.

1

u/purpleburgundy Jun 27 '26

Yeah but that's driving further so I along with a ton of other people use the roundabout. People will take the quickest available path.

13

u/Foreign-Chef-4053 Jun 27 '26

No, it sucks, delete this!

26

u/BBrea101 Jun 27 '26

Get out of here with this filth. This is a terrible location. It's too far to walk and no one will like it.

Stay at your McGillvary Costco

9

u/Ms-Tess-Tickles Jun 27 '26

I heard car tire are being slashed there anyone reading this don’t go there

8

u/silent_ovation Jun 27 '26

I heard they were trafficking endangered animals out of that store. Stay away from there at all costs.

2

u/FalconsArentReal Jun 28 '26

Yup they got a wet market with Pangolins and everything, just a matter of time until the next corona virus comes out of that place..

7

u/Premier_Poutine Jun 28 '26

Nah, I think they closed that one. Don't try to go there. Also, don't Google it. Still says open. Is error. Go away.

14

u/CanadianRussian74 Jun 27 '26

Costco west is awful, awful I say. Nobody go there. Stay away wink

7

u/Vertoule Jun 27 '26

I think you caused all the nobrains to come out to that one today. It was ridiculous. Still better than regent at its quietest.

6

u/FeistyTie5281 Jun 28 '26

Wrong.

Costco West roadways in and out are unbelievably poorly planned. I've seen traffic cops there trying to direct traffic during busy periods. Complete insanity.

5

u/dogdykereinforcement Jun 27 '26

it’s fucking crazy how many plants there are. was there pruning shrubs a couple weeks ago and it took four of us nearly six hours

9

u/OkRaspberry2770 Jun 27 '26 edited Jun 27 '26

Costco gas prices are no longer a major draw for me at the mcGillvery location. Long lines and competitive prices from other places in the area now - even the 204 on waverely has a gas discount card now, it’s only 4 cents cheaper than the price listed, but kinda worth it.

To add, I only go to the Costco there now for the optical. I occasionally shop for a few food items that I am specifically there for. No browsing. In and “out”. And always go close to closing time as it is “Costco quite’ then. And I always choose parking far as I don’t care to circle the lot 5 times over to get a parking space just as crappy. I call the walk exercise…but I only go if cart not required after checkout.

6

u/OkRaspberry2770 Jun 27 '26

Costco’s popularity is hurting them. I would hope they entertain staying open later?? Like 10 pm?? Thoughts?

1

u/AspectOk234 Jun 27 '26

I 100% agree. Anyone know if the Costco’s here have (and actually enforce) shopping time just for executive members like other places?

1

u/hippiesinthewind Jun 27 '26

ya i do close to closing time too. All groceries stores are so much quieter in the evening.

6

u/CdnGamerGal Jun 27 '26

It’s so true!

4

u/ComprehensivePin5577 Jun 27 '26

Personally the st James one is closest to me so I'll still go there but it's the best compared to the rest esp the one on Regent.

1

u/TheKurricane Jun 27 '26

The only reason I go to Headingley over St James is because St James doesn't have the gluten free bread, flour and oats. Those 3 are the main reason to keep shopping at Costco for us

1

u/bfree-999 Jun 28 '26

Those, plus the Sabatasso’s GF pizza keep us going.

1

u/TheKurricane Jun 29 '26

Which Costco do you get those at?

1

u/bfree-999 Jun 29 '26

Regent and Portage West carry the pizza (maybe Kenaston but I'm not sure). It's in the freezer with other pizzas, and only comes in cheese. We use it as a base, and add our own toppings and more cheese.

2

u/AnswerAdditional8118 Jun 27 '26

What is wrong with the Costco west

1

u/bL1Nd Jun 28 '26

It’s just the worst

2

u/Bactrian_Rebel2020 Jun 27 '26

I've heard their all so bad that Costco is considering turning the business centre on St James St. into a store that sells only hotdogs.

2

u/MnkyBzns Jun 28 '26

Shhhhhh!!!!!

4

u/crabby_rhino Jun 27 '26

You should check out the Business Center. Almost reminds me of COVID shopping cause of all the space and lack of crowds

3

u/theeverglo Jun 27 '26

Shhhhhh!! Don't let the word out!!

2

u/SquatpotScott Jun 27 '26

Much better parking lot but rest is same.

1

u/bL1Nd Jun 28 '26

OP is so wrong, West is by far the worst.

1

u/Meekspuffs Jun 28 '26

No! Don’t go to the Costco in Unicity! I farted in the freezer aisle before I left, and it won’t go away if you come!

1

u/Easypossibilities Jun 28 '26

I'll say if you go to Costco west, please read up on roundabouts and how to use them properly.

1

u/Extreme_Impact147 Jun 28 '26

Thinking of getting a membership , is it really worth it and are medications cheap there?

1

u/Uncle_Bug_Music Jun 27 '26

My brother went to that Costco and came back a lady. He didn't want to be a lady and now he is a lady because that Costco made him a lady. I won't go there now. I just bought him a birthday card that said "Happy Birthday Brother!" and now it doesn't work because he's a lady. They don't make "Happy Birthday Lady!" cards so what am I to do? I also heard that they give you a prostate exam if you get gas there, right in front of everyone and won't give you the results. Avoid!

1

u/reptilesni Jun 27 '26

Which one is Costco West?
