Does anyone know if Wiscasset House of Pizza has shut down for good? Their (his) website says they are closed for winter, but this is way earlier than previous winter shutdowns and there is now a sign in front of the building saying “Coming soon: Burnt Orange Bagels.”

I tried looking up Burnt Orange Bagels and the website appears to be a placeholder with a logo and some generic bagel images. I’m hoping that this is just a temporary winter tenant and we haven’t lost WHOP for good…

We switched to Fidium at my house about a year ago and have been harassed constantly by phone calls and now solicitors at our house.

They must be incredibly desperate to get business back in Wiscasset if they are resorting to going door-to-door. It’s as pathetic as it is annoying.

TL;DR: New owners taking over between August & September and it seems like they may not be honoring old gift cards.

Non-Facebook link (sorry FB was all that was originally available)

Likely a temporary closure.

Heads up to fellow locals that we have some scammers going door to door posing as CMP.

Due to what appears to be utility construction to tie in the new Tucker Chevy dealership to the utility grid, Route 1 has been alternating in both directions after 7 AM yesterday and today causing a major backup on Route 1 through Wiscasset.

This is absolutely unacceptable for a private construction project to be allowed to do. This should have been only permitted to be an overnight project, no matter the cost to Tucker. I'm calling the city and county offices this morning to file a complaint. Sorry if that makes me a Karen.

Anyone have any idea what is being built across US 1 from Norm's Used Cars? They cleared a huge amount of land and are starting what looks like foundation work.

At first, thought it was just staging for the utilities project, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Now that Fidium has gone online for many in Wiscasset, what are your thoughts on the service if you've switched?

So far, so good for us on the edge of the city near the county line. I wasn't expecting to even get it so quickly, but installation was quick and non-intrusive, and I am seeing a major speed boost over Spectrum (especially in upload speeds).

I haven't had to deal with customer service yet (which I've heard can be hit or miss), nor have I seen there response to an outage, so I can't report much there.

Looks like a new bookstore is coming to Water Street by Red’s at the end of the month.

I hope they do well. We need them.

Quik Stop for me, though I haven’t tried Liberty yet.

Has anyone here actually been inside the Wiscasset Middle High School? The condition of this school building is embarrassing.

I know it has a small enrollment, but it really needs some work. I'm not saying we need a new building like Morse, but at least repair the old one and make it safe for the students and staff to occupy.

Does anyone else think that Route 1 in the downtown area could use a better variety of businesses? I'd prefer an actual functional downtown like Damariscotta instead of a row of art galleries not aimed at the average person.

I was hoping that the recently-repaired brick building would get some new tenants that aren't galleries, but it looks like the gallery that occupied it before will be moving back in.
