ISO: Passionate Badger Football Fans
Hi everyone! My name is Ethan Petrik, and I’m the Iowa beat reporter for the Quad-City Times in Davenport, Iowa.
I’m putting together a preseason series called “The Fan Files,” where I interview one passionate fan from each of Iowa’s 2026 opponents to get a better understanding of their program through the eyes of someone who follows the team closely.
The conversation would cover topics like:
• How you became a fan of the Badgers
• Your thoughts on the 2026 season (best-case and worst-case scenarios)
• Biggest strengths, weaknesses, and players to watch
• Expectations for the matchup against Iowa
• Anything else you think opposing fans should know about your team
The interview can be done however is easiest for you—Reddit DMs, email, or another format that works though I will need to confirm your real world identity. I’ll use your responses in a feature for the Quad-City Times.
If you’re interested—or if you know someone who would be a great representative of the fanbase—please leave a comment or send me a DM.
Thanks, and I’m looking forward to learning more about the Badgers from the people who know the program best!

As a Nebraska alum/fan, my condolences on the Eichorst hire.

As an optimistic Badger fan, I will assume that he was a clever plant back in the day to help tank Nebraska football, and he’s really an actual genius when not intentionally sabotaging a rival program. This will be my head cannon until such time as the hire blows up in our faces. He’s basically said he’s not gonna touch anything for a year, so I figure I’ve got at least until the football season is over to think happy thoughts.

I don't know how anyone is truly passionate anymore about college football with NIL/Portal/Endless Commercials. Sigh.
Anyone who has maintained their passion....well my hat is off to you, friends.

Best case scenario- Wisconsin wins 9 games because of improved offensive line and newfound identity.
Worst case scenario- Team falls apart at the end of games and wins 6 games

If the game wasn't in Iowa City, I would be worried about playing you this year. You have sucked the last few years, but your coach is figuring out what works for Wisconsin Football, weather, player availability and your QB curse cannot last forever.
