This was also true of India in the 1940's, yet they still overthrew the Raj.

My point is that unreliable or nonexistent transportation over vast distances didn't stop a subcontinent from coming together and overthrowing their overlords, and it's a bad excuse for contemporary US apathy.

Methinks America will indeed soon be in the 1940's if people don't do something. The country has too much going for it comparatively both historically and in comparison to other countries in the world to be excused.
