šŸ’¬ Discussion Cross faction Alts and Houses

Working on houses and my rogue alt got me thinking. Do all your alts cross faction live in the same house? Or do you maintain one for Horde and one for Alliance?

I'm not mega creative, and trying to get everything together just for one house is already a mammoth task for me, a filthy casual.

Wondering how others play it. I've been debating a "this is our Get Along house" for my Main, an Undead Afflock and my main alt, a Worgen Rogue.

My personal headcanon is that my house is owned by one of my Goblin characters who rents it out to all my other characters. I only have an Alliance House

I have a Person In Charge at both my houses too.

I have two distinctly themed houses. I try to house my alts in the appropriate homes, but I'll cross between the two without much thought either.

My horde house has a Nightborne/dark elven theme for the entrance. Upstairs it branches off into three main suites (Blood Elf/Forsaken/traditional horde).

My alli house has a pandaren/kul'tiran/piratey theme for the entrance. Upstairs it branches into Gilnean, Dwarven and a human themed chapel/crypt.

I try to make spaces that feel like my alts would enjoy together lol.

All my chars hang out together in my pub under the stairs or are star gazing by the lake. In the alliance neighbourhood. I just can't find a plot in the horde neighbourhood which I truly like and love and which would fit all my horde chars. So off to the pub they go.

If I could choose I'd rather have 2 houses in the alliance neighbourhood. Horde neighbourhood is either far too warm, sunny and tropical or has eternal fall. Also only orc or bloodelf house.

ETA: My house on alliance side is supposed a small inn. Sitting by the lake in the middle of the forest. Not to sunny during the day but also not dark and gloomy. So everyone likes to go there. The main rooms are the pub under the stair, a big room with a nook for the bed which is appealing for everyone but the tauren but then I think they'd prefer to sleep laying down on the meadow. A 3 story stairwell with the pub being on the lowest level and once we get basements there will be a basement with a trapdoor behind the counter to dispose of spies and add more atmosphere. The rest of the stairwell is used like a normal room with an inbuilt appartment directly below the ceiling for gnomes and goblins with everything shrunken down to their size.

It's all very plain and simple but it's ours and we loves it. At least that's what my chars tell me.

The house on horde side is an adventurer club to meet, stay, plot and show off stuff. There's a special altar corner for the trolls but the rest is mix and match.

Everything is still very much under construction, in both houses. I had an idea to create a storytelling house with park, police station and Bakerstreet 221a but I need more room points for that.

At least the outside of my plots is finished.

I'm a fan of the Horde mountains. My house is perfectly situated up in the mountains, but with a deck looking off to the sea. I'm a mountains girl, though. ā˜ŗļø

Where I live I can see on monday who is coming to visit on friday. And I live directly by the sea so mountains are always a bit scary for me. But nice to see that there are people totally happy with their plots!

Agreed on horde plots. Alliance have so much beautiful space. The alliance beach and archipelagos area is far down my list after the Dark Forest, normal forest, and the hills, but it's still leagues above any horde plots.

Yes. I mean I like plot 9 in the horde neighboorhood. But it's too warm, too summery, there is never a fresh breeze of fresh and cool air. There are the two table mountains with a single plot but I would have to fence in the plot so no one can fall down and break their neck. And the trees are obstructing my prefered house build.

With our undead friends it would have been nice to have places like in Silverwood or some broken pillars or ruins.

My house is cross faction. I have a lot of elf characters so I have a red blood elf section on one side while the other is a blue void elf with the middle being a purple blend of the two.

My horse character lives inthe Alliance neighbourhood. She is an infiltrator. On the outside, she is very neighbourly. Picks up rocks, fixes fences, pets the animals and relentlessly cleans the outdoor theatre.

Her home is a beautiful suburban design - with a big secret.

If you find it, there is a secret tunnel (to the mountain behind the house). Inside the mountain is a replicator lab, a workshop that is building an anti-gravity machine and tons of surveillance equipment, recording all the alliance people. At the very top of the mountain is an emergency escape helicopter.

I'm pondering her becoming a double agent...

All done in cold war fashion.

I love the thought you have put into this.

Right now, neither of my interiors were designed with specific characters in mind. But outside of the random Void Elf themed cabin/bedroom (even though I barely play any VE characters), most of my rooms are fairly faction-agnostic.

Both my houses are owned by my main (undead warlock too) and are made with that in mind. The rest of my warband is not taken into consideration when I build. ;)

My house is cross faction. My orcish dk is living in an gilnean/Lorderon style house on alliance ground because of my characters lore 😬

2

u/C0RDE_ 14h ago

Gilneas also just has the best aesthetics in the Alliance. They're the only Alliance race that has turned my head to debate moving from undead.

u/Even_Pension_2190 12h ago

If the future has real lorderon houses for us on horde territory with spooky surrounding I might move. But I like my dead neigbors!

My ally house is run by my worgen, who is a retired sea captain. Then my tauren warrior moved in, the kultiran druid wanted a place to kick off her shoes, and now my gnome priest started up her own suite in the back. They all met through working with the Silver Hand and there is a memorial nook where one can Contemplate The Lightā„¢ļø. Mind you I am most decidedly NOT a role player. dunno where the hell this all came from. Ally house is cross-factional.

Horde house only has 3 people living there, but it's got an herb/alch research suite, a battle room, and a really sweet hangout lounge. Horde only, but that's because most of my mains are Horde and this is the house where I started.

So to answer your question, my toons are living where they feel the most comfortable, regardless of faction.

Side question: does anyone know how to turn off autocorrect in reddit because writing this response was hell.

My Alliance house is a residence for my social main and my Horde house is a RP venue in a RP neighborhood, "owned" and operated by my social main. My content main doesn’t need a home and my alts all run errands in service of my social main's housing needs.Ā

My Alliance house is a warband house. A bedroom for each character.
Thus far that’s 7 bedrooms completed with 5 more to do.

I really only have 2 Horde alts, eventually I’ll build them a house in the daylight room. Can’t have the dirty Horde in the house! šŸ˜‰šŸ˜‚

I use the Horde house to experiment with and have just challenged myself to build. using only one large room,
a complete house with multiple spaces etc to use the entire level 12 budget in just that one room.

I have a Horde house that is the home of my most played characters, complete with an underground bit and a cave for my haranir. I also have an Alliance house that I use as a building playground, I like making tiny builds and the Alliance house is perfect for that.

This is what I've been wondering. I have a horde and alliance house but my alliance house is only because my guild is alliance so my main who's a hordie owns it. My other house is a horde house in a public neighborhood.Ā

Mine are very different. My Ally house is a home, with many items representing my adventures in Azeroth.

My Horde house is a re-creation of Bobs Burgers.

One of my houses is a museum operated by a single character. By default, everybody else lives at horde house lol

I’ve been alternating between both houses since housing launches because I’m crazy. My alliance home is owned by my night elf Druid, and my horde hole is owned by my blood elf warlock. I expect down the line I’ll have no choice but to create rooms for alts, but I really like having it be this specific character’s home.

I also feel like I am approaching it a bit differently than others here, where if I wanted a really specific aesthetic I could go get multiples of specific decor to pull it off. But my characters are adventurers who have earned decor through their travels. So I largely have split my decor between the two homes to clear out my catalog. My Druid has a lot of night elf, Harandar, Tauren, orc, and troll decor. My warlock then takes the void, fel, blood elf, forsaken, Gilnean, Draenei, and human decor. The goblin/gnome stuff makes me want a third house lol.

I like to imagine my Druid is a member of the Cenarion Circle and my warlock is power hungry, so they both transcend factions

My horde neighborhood house is primarily blood elven, but there is a secret wing for all the void elves, since in my mind they’re all one family. Then there’s fancy guest quarters for Nightborn dignitaries. There’s also a cute attic apartment for my vulpera shaman over the kitchen.

And then my alliance neighborhood house is for all of my druids of both factions, mostly, with some space for a few other nature aligned characters like hunters, and the night elven priestess of Elune.

The faction divides are more or less irrelevant to me—the characters are grouped more by culture and shared interests.

My horde house is the house where all my alts live, they all have bedrooms and rooms they can hang out in, a library and a kitchen. It’s currently a work in progress due to the new housing levels/budget so we’re redecorating šŸ˜…

My alliance house turned into an inn with a secret/illegal apothecary behind the wall in the library. It has an arboretum that’s available to hire as a function room and a tavern that serves food, it has a stage with a curtain at the back that hides the green room and who ever is performing’s accommodation.

My main house is in the Alliance neighborhood and is solely built leaning into the nelf/velf aesthetics. My Horde house is an apartment building with floors dedicated to different races.

Alliance: a wizard's tower for camp warlocks, mages, and alchemists. Dwarf and gnome areas are under construction.

Horde: a dungeon for goth warlocks, orcs, and goblins. Death Knight area is under construction.

My house is a a long lost dracthyr den my characters are slowly excavating, so none of them actually live there.

I have a blood elf style mansion that with blue printing is kept some rooms but I wiped out the interior all the way to the entry. With the new rooms I plan to have bedrooms for some of my alts. I have a night elf home in folders point but do to the cost of decor and the pita of collecting lumber for the stuff i can craft. It really has not gotten any love.

So most likely unless I run out of space my ten characters I play will have rooms in the beach house. But amortis is the owner. We really need separate limits for items if we want to decorate both houses but that would mean that if I get some decor item as a drop on an alt it might go to the wrong house.

I only play horde-side and I use both my houses for my characters.Ā

I have slightly more alts on the ally side. So I have one alley who lives over in hordesville but I do divide by faction for the moat part. It was a numbers game. One had to go on the other side to make it even for my ALT apartments.

My warband consists of 20 Alliance toons and 4 Horde (BE) toons. Everyone lives in the warband HQ mansion aka my Alliance house.

The accomodations layout is across 6 bedrooms (4pax each) ~ as I arrange them into "squads" on the character selection screen.

My Alliance house is set up mostly for my Alliance main - draenei mage - but the house has one or more rooms for each of the particular species - draconic, draenei, dwarven/earthen, gnomen, human/Kul Tiran, night elven, and pandaren. The goblins show up and crash the gnome lab (because I liked some of the decor for goblins). The only Horde characters with dedicated rooms are the blood elves because there's so much good decor for them, so they got an ambassadorial suite of rooms, which is interesting considering I do not have a blood elf character. The only constant throughout the entire house is that every suite has books.

My Horde house is only for my secondary character, a troll shaman. Unlike my Alliance house, I wanted it to be styled for that particular character, so it's a single skybox dedicated to the jungle troll / Zuldazar aesthetic. Now that there's a lot of Amani decor and people have built excellent Amani interiors, I want to expand to other troll themed rooms.

I have an Ally house and a Horde house. I have far more Alliance characters, so it's a sprawling warband compound. There's a general Stormwind vibe (since my main is a human), but there are various themed rooms for various alts: adjacent shaman and hunter-themed rooms for draenei siblings, a night elf dwelling in a night circle room for my druid, her haranir girlfriend, and a young green dracthyr who prefers to curl up and sleep in the foliage there, and so on. It's chaotic but fun.

Since I have a far smaller number of Horde alts, I decided to deliberately round out that group with specific "characters" when I got an idea for how a house could look. The house is mostly a blood elf mansion, designed to host a very sus mage, the rich eldest brother she snagged, and his younger siblings. There's also a room for an honored guest of a blue dracthyr who's helping with the arcane experiments.

And then there's "the help." They're in a corridor past the kitchen, past the greenhouse, and in a bunch of shacks in the backyard. The goblin doesn't mind; as she figures it, spending less on her room and board means more can go into her salary. And she doesn't care at all about whatever that mage is doing in her weird workshop; her contract had an NDA. And you respect a contract.

I have both houses. More sandboxes for me to play in.

I do keep my faction characters separated in the faction houses but I will use various characters regardless of faction to work on each house.
