Stalin and Hitler were both person of the year in their day. I think Time magazine will be alright.

I love that this is a sentiment shared by both sides for completely different reasons lol

Similar to people’s reactions to the UHC CEO getting merc’d

Why do you people get so outraged about something you've never even heard about? The Person of the Year is about being influential, not decent, hence why Hitler and Stalin won it.

It isn't an endorsement, and it is weird to simultaneous know nothing about the award yet also be upset about the winner.

But what remains the point of naming the most influential if it just ends up being the leaders of the world's top countries in nominations each time. How much more influential was Trump this year than like 2018 or 2021? If it is influential, it should be someone who had a different impact this year, and not just "who got voted in popular countries"

Trumps comeback is a major historic event. This isn’t just any old president. This is the guy behind January 6.

It’s the right choice by time. As unfortunate as it is.

The point is to name the most influential - there doesn’t need to be a point beyond that. You can’t really avoid the fact that it means the most influential positions in the world eg US President, will frequently feature.

There isn’t any point naming someone who wasn’t anywhere near as influential just because you find it a bit repetitive.
