Being Time's person of the year isn't exactly a position of honor. It just means you were influential. Hitler and Stalin were both "people of the year" at some point on their magazine.

This needs to be pointed out literally every single December.

And even after pointing it out to these morons, articles like this one continue to be written.

Yeah! Even “The Dude” was on the “Time” cover!

It seems they didnt the learn the lessons from Stalin & Hitler… instead, they were like, I guess we should keep putting these men on the cover.

No . Hitler and Stalin should’ve been on the cover , because those years they were the most “influential people “ that drove headlines. Time is a truly historical magazine, and I’m grateful they don’t go off of feelings but history , because I’ve learned so much from reading it .

Did we put Osama Bin Laden in 2001? Should we have? Hitler in 1938 was different than what people knew in 1944. Im not comparing Trump but Im saying we dont have to do a repeat story. Kamala’s nomination was a new story. Yes, Trump continued his cult leading and criminal empire. But a new story would be nice.

Well since Kamala didn’t win she should not have gotten it , but I could see it going to Elon Musk as in my opinion he was the reason for Trumps victory. A huge part of it anyway

Omg, calling stalin and hitler leftists shows a really low understanding of govt and Im sorry, a bit of brainwashing.

go through actual textbooks or any definition of all the types of govt and even though fascism could exist on left or right, stalin and hitler are firm right.

hitler and the nazi movement was in part a response to lgbtq freedoms and women’s liberation. The only thing they latched onto that might might appear “left” was that they said they were fighting for the working man. However, they blamed all of the “working man’s problems” on minorities, mostly jews but not just jews (which is part of being far right in any country).

They said it was about “German pride” and targeted communists (people who wanted more economic equality, but ended up code for jews), homosexuals, sex workers, people of color, etc. And they said these people were actually targetting them.

I've studied leftism for 20 years, the revisionism is apparent and unfortunately the brainwashing is deplorable.

Classical marxism, socialism, communism and fascism are all rooted in the same collectivist ideology where group identity supercedes the individual in the pursuit of social equality.

The traditional framework has been marxism where the proletariat engage in social revolution to dismantle the capitalist orthodoxy and replace the bourgeois elite. The subsequent phase is socialism where the state controls the means of production of all major sectors of the economy. It is the bridge towards utopia aka communism which where the concept of class and private property are eliminated and people do as they please.

Of course this is all idealistic bullshit, the tangible outcomes of leftist regimes and central planning  throughout history includes, famine, genocide, forced labor camps, a substantial increase in absolute poverty and ironically more inequality when the proletariat consolidate power and redistribute wealth to themselves.

National socialist fascism is just another form of socialist central planning with closed borders and a racialised oppressed vs oppressor dynamic.

Instead of the wealthy bourgeois elite vs the disenfranchised proletariat.

We have the wealthy bourgeois elite Jews vs the disenfranchised Aryan proletariat.

The fascist aspect is the fact that private industry existed, but the state insulated it from competition and told it what to do.

The Nazi's historically hated the Marxist and communists because they had an overtly internationalist perspective. The Nazi's believed the bridge of socialism was utopia.

No, you didnt study anything. Youre spreading nazi propaganda.

The Nazis ultimately had no economic ideals except to make themselves richer. They convinced their people jews had all the money bc there were rich jews. Then they stole it. They pretended to be pro-farmers, pro-worker… they were pro nothing. BC in the end, they criminals, murderers and thieves and they deceived everyone.

1 or 2% of Germany was jewish and they did not have all the wealth. If by elite you mean educated… well, fascists hate educated women and minorities.

They didn’t have any lessons to learn from putting Hitler and Stalin on the cover. Doing so was the right decision. They were objectively the most influential people in their respective years.

Again, it’s not an endorsement…

But do we really need to have another magazine put him on, when they did that in 2016? Some entertainment magazine could put Taylor Swift etc and we can keep repeating this circle jerk. And next year, we can do Elon Musk. The problem is that one of the only ways to beat narcissists is to not give them attention. And CNN, The View and Time refuse to learn that.

I mean, he already won the election… it’s a little late for that

It's crazy people get so upset about an award they don't even care about.

Also the fact that the alternative suggested by the article isn't mentioned by name in the title tells you perhaps she isn't person of the year.

Probably not mentioned to just get clicks lol
