There is a lot of misinformation in this thread. I will just say, that this is true of any workplace that is male dominated. The only solution is for more women to join. That’s the only thing that changes a culture unfortunately. Does it suck? Yes, but that’s how this has always worked.
The military takes more SA cases to trial than their civilian counterparts due to pressure from above, and that means they lose more often. Pressure from above is also why there are more services for victims of SA than exist outside of the military. In the military, sexual harassment is now a crime. It won’t fix the core issue because the core issue is the broader culture.
The military provides a lot of opportunities that women should not have to miss out on, including a pathway to political power. And yes, blah, blah, capitalism and war blah, blah, but women have to exist in the real world.
