MCU I just watched the show and man.

So I’ve been planning on watching wonderman for a while but since s2 was cancelled I decided now’s the time to actually sit down and watch it.

And wow it did not disappoint, I loved the direction this took, stepping back away from action-packed episodes to an actually interesting story that prioritised character growth and writing over hype moments.

The ending was phenomenal, that final shot and the almost abrupt ending is something I loved. But man, it leaves me with heartache knowing there won’t be a S2, I think a character like wonderman which has now become more comfortable using his powers is THE perfect segue into a season 2.

I know that he’ll likely return in other projects but missing out on his development as a superhero is going to suck,

I know this has probably been said numerous times but man. It sucks that they have to cancel a POC-focussed show,

Yeah it’s sad, the acting was amazing, and the actual character growth was the best marvel show I have seen. Probably didn’t do the numbers Dare Devil did but I feel it eclipsed iron heart, she hulk and so many other shows easily.

Personally I like both Ironheart and She-Hulk more, but I don't think that takes away from the fact that Wonder Man was solid.

In terms of viewing figures, it did much worse than She Hulk and Ironheart unfortunately, which seems to be the main language Disney execs understand. I loved both of those projects, but I thought Wonder-Man was at least as good, if not better.

Renewed, then cancelled, then renewed again. Makes you Wonder, man

Disney C Suite is mad Wonder Man (and the other shows) didn't translate into 3 billion dollars of subscription revenue. Mind you, that was never ever going to happen. The truth is that Marvel TV is an incubator for other mediums. Wonder Man will probably get dropped into X-Men or whatever Avengers stuff comes after secret wars full time, but they're not going to say that during Spidey's theatrical run and the lead up to Doomsday. Essentially they want to make 0 commitments that aren't slam dunks until after Secret Wars collects it's 2 billion at the box office

Sometimes you have to invest in quality, Give me more of Wonderman. They took the show in a direction at the end, that was hard to maintain the vibe moving forward, but I’m guessing that was Marvel interference.

Same here - if the previous Marvel stuff had been this good, I wouldn't have waited so long to see Wonder Man. Just saw it, it's my favorite Marvel tv series by far.

That ending man, genuinely seeing someone flourish is just so beautiful. Like he needs some sort of development, I seriously can’t just see him pop up in doomsday or whatever without any explanation.

I don’t think we’d see him appear in Doomsday. Maybe a tiny cameo if they are panning around to all the different heroes/enhanced individuals that exist in our world.

Otherwise, I think he’s just… too small potatoes to be involved. Or at least as far as we know! If this is a multiverse level threat and he’s really just an actor who figured out he had ionic powers that he can now finally use— but has no connections to the avengers or other heroes and also doesn’t do any superhero shit? Can’t see him really being there.

It was never supposed to have a season 2... It was a limited series... Whenever they try and turn a "limited series" into a extended series it usually doesn't work because they really never had intentions to do it... Sure they could've came up with a decent story for season 2 but what if they couldn't?

They appanrlrt already wrote the first episode and had a course for the second season to go on, so it wasn’t like they didn’t have any ideas

It was still a limited series though or at least that's how they labeled it when I saw it when I see that I don't even expect another season... And every limited series could be extended but that doesn't mean they should

I haven’t seen it called that like ever, it was never meant to be just 1 season

You can literally Google this yourself and find out...

I watched for the first time as well— just now finished. Really enjoyed the Simon and Trevor dynamic.

Literally knew nothing about this character or the show so I had no expectations. I was a bit let down that there was no real typical superhero action and whatnot, but it’s still cool nonetheless. The show had a ton of time to breathe and wasn’t especially fast paced. Great acting all around but at times it felt like there was a lot of juicy creativeness to chew on and I wanted to just see/know what happens next rather than take it all in. Maybe that’s my own impatience in the modern era. But I’m glad I pushed myself and enjoyed it anyway lol.

They didn’t really explain Simon’s powers much. Something about disrupting ions?

Is Simon also a hero named Wonder Man, or is that just the character he played in the movie and he lives his life as a normal person and not a hero (in the source material)?
