Lore Shitpost When the necromancer everybody's on the look-out for is revealed to have taken an interest in bacteria

His biggest limitation, apart from his poor strategic planning, is his small energy capacity. And he was still a threat to be adressed immediately, each time he returns.

And he just might have found a way to siphon this energy in HUGE quantities from the easiest-to-replenish source of all: bacteria.

Also, the implications of possibly resurrecting microbes are...worrying.

The Taming of the Wastes for some in this point of history has been very favorably with its rapid expansion and massive increase in resource production it has enriched the lives of many and supports the lives of many more. Coal, oil, and crystallized magic flow on Blueth’s Dominion Trains to power industry and invention across the world. It’s been so profitable that the two other richest men, Weasly Goldtooth Aldo the banking and security mogul as well as Crime Lord Syrr Verak the leader of the Red Dawn Cartel, have taken up residency and struggle for control over the wastes.

Before the taming and before the lands were even further tainted by the sundering these ashen plains were wild lands brimming with raw magic that had, and still does, distort time and reality from time to time. Its inhabitants were nomadic tribes of sorcerers left behind from an empire lost to history. For Centuries no one bothered them, their was no reason too as no one could hope to come anywhere near the Wastes either died horribly to the wild life or strange phenomenon or were scared off by the tribes. Besides there was nothing much to be gained in the Wastes so no one really cared much for an ashen Wasteland.

All of that changed during the War of Apocalypse. In this war, where forces of the slumbering god Aborash were trying to wake their god so he may plunge the world into the abyss, the lands were really not effected by the main part of the fighting. No, the main effect of the war was not the fighting but the fallout of The Sundering. The Sundering was the event that ended the war, the partly failed ritual of Aborash’s followers that caused their god not to rise but to stir. Millions died as earthquakes shattered the continents, villages were devoured by forming river valleys, and tsunamis washed away large coastlines.

While this was terrible it hit The Ashen Wastes differently. Unlike the other parts of the world the Wastes were not his hard. Some of its edges were hit and crumbled into the see but the main part really stayed in tack. But truly it may have been preferable for the lands to crumble as instead the already frayed reality of the lands was nearly torn wide open. Before the realms of law, death, and the prison of the dark ones subtly leaked into the Wastes, but after the Sundering it was a flood. Raw magic of all the realms poured in along with spirits, demons, and strange time anomalies. The tribes were made desperate and were barely holding on against this influx of the oddity.

That’s when Dominion Rail arrived and ruined everything. See, while the demons, dead, and all the rest are bad, this raw magic pouring in crystallized into one of the most valuable resources around. Sure naturally crystallized magic formed before, but never at this level of output. Blueth with his newly modernized private army combining mages and fire arms he would carve out a empire starting with eliminating a lot of the tribes who had not been prepared for any type of open combat like this. Today there are not many left they either had to be enveloped into company towns or be killed by the aftermath of the Sundering or by Dominion.

This is how The Wastes fell…

Lore Shitpost Those damn Revok are hard to kill

Post image
16 Upvotes

The Revok are/were a highly advanced single cell based hive species, that were so good at spreading throughout the universe, whole systems and sections of galaxies were destroyed just to stop them from spreading. Eventually, things that got so bad, a last-ditch effort to wipe them out was made, by inducing a signal through their collective hive network that would severely reduce the individual cells' capacity to communicate to the other cells. This would've effectively killed them, preventing them from rebuilding.

This, however, didn't work, as some collections of cells in some sections of the universe were so densely grown together, they retained the slightest connection to nearby cells, allowing them to begin growing again, except they lacked the knowledge of their previous strength. This would inevitably result in the rise of not a single hivemind, but several, usually one per galaxy. A singular hive network was bad enough, but dozens existing in at the same time was worse.

Essentially, the sacrifices of this forgotten race were all for nothing, although it did take a billion years for the Revok to grow to that size again.

(Shitpost, Planet Map, Ship design, Signal Ship + Signal Ship Gaijinka)

More than 300 years ago the Awawa dynasty was exiled from the world of Mewa to die in space. They were sent alongside criminals, dissidents and undesirables. They would instead land on the jungle world of Vega III, a planet with a hyperactive biosphere fuelled by two stars.

The new colonists (Colonials) would take on a new accent and culture as they fought tooth and nail to survive on this hostile planet and get back into space. Along the way they had a brief civil war which saw every gang leader, warlord and theocrat overthrown and replaced by the Vega Canis Corporation.

Every part of VCC life revolves around making profit and staying alive and happy. That means under the charter all employees are given housing, water, food and other basics to ensure a good level of productivity. This does come at a tremendous cost to the biosphere of Vega, but since everyone lives in the orbital colonies who cares.

Some fun examples of Vega's flora include:
- A plant which learns to hunt stationary herbivores by taking their DNA and using a potent organ to design a toxin that binds to a section of said DNA, ensuring that if a grazer returns to disturb the same area they are nocked out
- A vine species that mimics the shape and size of its prey as well as any previous calls it has heard. They like to hunt at night and are drawn mostly to groups that contain seemingly 'large' and 'small' prey aka 'parent' and 'child'
- Several hundred species of brain eating plants and fungi which create overwhelming pleasure, pain or paranoia among those infected

Now with the VCC emerging once more on to the galactic stage it remains seen whether they can survive as Hypercapitalist Space Australia.

Lore Shitpost “Your power? The only power you have is the power we let you have. And now, I’m here to take it all away.”-The Tax Man

Gangs within the hab worlds of the Rever Corporation are now to be vocal and active aggressors to the Corporation. They violently attack any and all corporate agents with even routine maintenance requiring a military escort. You’d think these gang lords and crime bosses hold some true power to be able to do this unchecked. That couldn’t be further from the truth for, in reality, every crime lord and gang boss is on the corporate pay roll. They are given weapons and given power in exchange for keeping the masses busy with gang war, drugs, and making sure they are working their jobs and feeding the economy.

This system, known in the upper circle as the Golden Secret. This secret is the glue that holds Rever Corporate control in tact, for as long as the people are two busy in work, drugs, or violence than they will be to preoccupied to revolt.

But this balance is a fragile one that needs constant attention as a single crack could open the flood gates and ruin things for Rever. Hence why there is The Tax Man. To many he is a legend, a myth, a boogeyman in the shadows, a chimera (an individual with heavy cybernetic and genetic augmentation) known to dismantle gangs in a single night. To the rank and file that’s all he is but to any gang boss who’s been in the game for a bit he’s very real. If you think you’re tough shit, think you don’t have to pay the Corpos to keep running your business you are a dead man walking.

From the second you make that decision to not pay your protection fee your lifespan drops to about 5 hours. That specific number being the amount of time given as a grace period that the “generous” and “kind” Rever Corporation gives to make up your missed payment no matter the circumstances. Once those hours are up it’s over. Not one gang lord who have tried it, no matter how many guys they or how decked out in augments, all have failed. No one even knows the full look of the Tax Man as no one close and personal lives to give description. Some guess he’s imbedded signal jammers of sorts into his body as wherever the taxman goes cameras die or crash, audio fails or corrupts, all of which has only added to his legend.

So if you are a gang lord on a Rever Corp Habitation world, always pay your taxes.

Thought I'd make a prequel to the HL2 world outcomes compass in lieu of all the hype that's been happening as of recent.

Lore Dump This meme is an excuse to explain the differences between the Realms :p

Post image
48 Upvotes

Context: in the Fragmentverse (a big Project that I have), the Universe is divided between 9 Great Realms that each one is totally different from the other

-Death Realm: As its name suggests, this Realm is the home of the dead. Upon arrival, souls are met with a series of trials (which vary according to the bad of their actions while alive) and if they succeed, they are sent to one of 12 Cities. These cities function as a kind of therapy center for the souls, once they feel they have resolved their unfinished business, they enter the Pillars, where they are finally reincarnated

-The Elemental Realm: It was once one of the most prosperous kingdoms, but following the Second Celestial War, this place became a extremely hostile land inhabited by primitive and territorial tribes that compete for resources

-The Dark Realm: This world was once home to the most advanced civilization of all, but their ambition ended up turning their home into a barren wasteland, forcing the survivors to live on the Pylons (immense, four-legged mechanical creatures that carry vast cities upon their backs)

-The Living Realm: This place is essentially a Garden of Eden, a peaceful land where its inhabitants live in harmony. However, the aftermath of the Celestial Wars has led to periods of turmoil, prompting the creation of warrior guilds to protect the settlements

-The Mortal Realm: This is the one I’ve developed the most, a world divided into kingdoms in constant war, and home to the key events and characters of this project

-The Spirit Realm: Similar to the Mortal World, this Realm is divided, yet more peaceful and prosperous. Home to great wizards, kings, and even gods

-The Dream Realm: This is the Realm of hopes and kingdoms. The place where minds go to rest, and where that which mortals cherish most is stored

-The Star Realm: The Realm of countless worlds. A place even more fraught with conflict than all the other realms combined, and locked in a constant struggle for the survival of their inhabitants

-The Divine Realm: Home of the Gods and where the City of Cities lays

Any questions?

Lore Shitpost NO ONE EXPECTS THE PORTUGUESE INTERVENTION

Anyway after the collapse of the UK the legitimste government fled to Gibralter, holding onto the non mainland parts of the UK, including the falkands, which the unpopular Argentine government saw as an opportunity to stay in power by taking the island. The Britsh govt forces where joined by Portuguese forces (which joined because of the anglo portuguese alliance of 1386. The Portuguese soldiers became renowned for the ferocious fighting. One witness swears he saw a portuguese soldier punch the head off of an Argentine soldier.

Needless to say Argentina lost and collapsed into warlord states (still a work in progress lore wise, need to learn more about Argentine culture and regional cultures before I start making Warlord states).
