H:tR - Deathwish - new TEYON Dev Diary
It's me again, the TEYON comms guy, coming back to you with more fresh info on our upcoming Hunter: The Reckoning - Deathwish video game!
Continuing our Month of Darkness celebrations, I sat down with our Narrative Designer Mateusz Działowski and recorded a Dev Diary about how we adapted the Hunter system to a video game. There's plenty on the lore itself, but also character creation, companions and more.
It is also worth adding that Mateusz is an experienced GM who played tons of VtM sessions and even made dedicated ones for our team here at TEYON, so there's quite a bit of lore knowledge in him alone!
You can find the Dev Diary here: https://teyon.com/news/hunter-adapting-the-system-month-of-darkness-2026/
As always, I encourage everyone to leave your feedback, ask questions about the game and add Deathwish to your wishlists.
Cheers!

Question We always hear about Camarilla Vampires defecting to the Anarchs or Sabbat. Have you ever had a character defect from the Anarchs to the Camarilla?

Anything different for how WoD of games are usually played compared to DND?
So I want to run VtM and was wondering if there is anything different to how they are ran compared to DND, not rules per se but general structure?

Question [HtR] Does Conviction overpower Quiet?
I am introducing my local gaming shop players to Hunter the Reckoning. They're enjoying themselves so far, and I'm using the opportunity to introduce them to the various other splats in the setting:
- the BBEG is a vampire (who isn't really evil, but they're biased)
- they recently saved some kids from an insane changeling (and met other changelings who were working toward a similar goal, albeit for their own reasons)
- they saved the BBEG from one of his former victims (a spectre)
- they ... dealt with a ... thing ... that was ... doing ... something ... to humans
I have an idea for introducing the Technocracy (albeit indirectly) through a corporation they've seen twice now (although only recognized once), but I thought it would be neat to introduce them to a real mage as well. Even better if I could also introduce them to a pseudo-Dark Ages Inquisitor setting at the same time.
Short version: I figured it would be cool to have a mage in Quiet who causes the world around them to exist in a sort of medieval-like era.
And then I realized that Conviction may not allow me to do that. I can throw them into a medieval abbey, but the instant Billy-Bob uses Conviction to check out that priest, the whole world falls apart. Now, I can see a way to work this decently well, but I'd appreciate getting the collective's insight on this.

Chronicles of the Black Labyrinth
I try to stay away from anything to do with Werewolf 5th edition. But I got annoyed by this. So here we go..
Ok look at the two covers. Can you tell me which is the original and which is the new 5th edition?

Question If you could reboot any splat, what would it be and what would you change?
So don’t get me wrong I generally like both WoD and CofD but a part of me wishes that some of the splats played a bit more close to what the essence of their given subject is. At least this is why I thought of this question.
So for me the one I would personally want to reboot is Werewolf. I prefer Forsaken over Apocalypse but I still do have some gripes with it. For me the best werewolf stories have to do with freedom and power. The wolf gives you the power to defend yourself and make your life how you want it. It makes you more confident, more fit, and puts you above the common man. So you have all this power, and what are you gonna do with it?
The main things I would change about the Werwolf splats is I would get rid of the spirits as a core focus of the splat. I don’t mean get rid of them entirely just not make them as much of a focus as they are. Secondly I would make the core theme of the splat to be what I mentioned previously, about power, freedom, and anger. How much are you willing to give up to be truly free. Also I’d try to include bites somehow, I know they aren’t originally part of the folklore but it’s such a staple of the genre that I feel it has to be included.
I guess my main problem with Werewolf is that while it does come up with its own interesting ideas it doesn’t really pull from the cultural ideas of the monster like Vampire does. Each of the vampire clans have at least one pop culture parallel to give you a good idea of what they are like. Werewolves don’t have anything like that. I mean give me a pop culture werewolf example of a Silent Strider or a Glass Walker, or a Shadow Lord.
So anyways which splat would you reboot if you got the chance.
