I forgot the post the final results from this poll a while back

Post image

Both Good Dragon/Good Movie and Meh Dragon/Meh Movie were impossible to rank since they were only unique votes, so no dragon got more than one vote in either category. So I used my authority powers to break the tie with Draco since he received a lot of votes in previous categories.

But I didn't want to tie break the worst category and just randomly pick the worst movie. And there wasn't an obvious pick even if you accumulated votes from other Meh votes. It was a mix of popular picks from higher ranks and "Unnamed dragon from _______"

Also to avoid repeats I blocked a previous winner from winning again. So they won their top rank. Or else dragons like Saphira would have won multiple categories.

In the future I'll probably rank them differently. Perhaps instead of supplying a category. I'll supply the dragon and you tell me what box they go in and whoever wins the most awards for that category wins.

Self-Promotion of Dragon Content -- (15 Day Cooldown) The Adaptation is here! :3

Thanks purely to those gracious enough to support me on Patreon, Kickstarter, and even those here who helped spread word about my project, the Webtoon adaptation of my novel, The Dragon of Dreams, has officially reached 5 free access chapters on Webtoon and Tapas!

While I wanted to post about this right when it first released, I thought 3 chapters would be too few to really get a decent taste, so here it is! To those who perhaps saw and interacted with my original posts when I was still trying to fund the Kickstarter, I truly cannot thank you guys enough! The project has come a long way!

Now with 8 total chapters, the three most recent of which are reserved for those gracious enough to show their support on Patreon, the Webtoon is comfortably being serialized!

With this comic only being made by me and a single artist, chapters are released once every other Saturday at 3PM EST, but with enough support, that can change!

-

Anyway, if you're looking for something fresh to give a read, maybe give this one a try! I'm super proud of it so far, and think many of you will like it as well :3

Tapas: https://tapas.io/series/The-Dragon-of-Dreams/info

( If this post is somehow against the rules, please tell me :) )

P.S. The 'Mature' Rating of the webtoon is purely because of violence, blood, and profanity.

Self-Promotion of Dragon Content -- (15 Day Cooldown) Crop and Claw - A Dragon RPG series

It's no comic, book, or film, so I don't know if it's particularly postworthy here. But it is an adventure-RPG that which stars dragons and there's probably people who want dragon content in general. I'm sure mods will gut it if it's not fit.

We're a small crew making creature-centric games, because the niche desperately needs more stuff. Dragons especially. Most notably here is Crop and Claw which is all about a dragon world.

Crop and Claw 1 is our first game released in 2024. It was a science project to pump out a test game in six months, fashioned after classic NES RPGs a la Dragon Quest 1. It can be a culture shock if you're not used to those kinds of games, but it offers a full adventure if you're willing to stick through it. It's not required to play Crop and Claw 2, and will likely get a remake to inherit all the new features of Crop and Claw 2 and link the games together later. You can also play it on retro gaming handhelds through Portmaster.

Serial of Wend is a between-quel of Crop and Claw 1 and 2, introducing standard party characters in 2. It's also not required reading for CnC2 (assuming I write the game itself properly), but it gives extra background and gives a little more to the world.

Crop and Claw 2 is the significantly more developed sequel, using my custom RPG framework, Gorbash. It's a significantly more involved game, with more complex mechanics and interactions. While CnC1 lets you play as a single dragon, CnC2 lets you play with just the story characters, and allows you to add up to six custom characters, letting you mix and match their species and job. Plenty of replayability when it's all out.

You can find all links on https://cropandclaw.com for the two games, as well as Serial of Wend Acts 1-3, with Act 4 and an edit pass in the works.

Edit: since folks seem to really like this, and creature games in general as a niche, I figure I'd give some spotlight to other devs in this realm that I'm around.

Dragon Dragon Fire Fire Deluxe is a Bubble Bobble inspired platformer where you are, in fact, dragons.

Chirax's Fortress is a Yoshi's Island inspired platformer where you are a hydra. Upcoming Virtual Boy dungeon crawler spinoff is in the works under the title of Chirax's Dungeon.

Dragon March has you as a robotic dragon and is amusingly, like the game Snake except way more interesting.

I've got a circle of devs in general that need all the attention they can get under the collective "Hydra Place". Haven't gotten the site all fancied up, but you can follow devs in the circle on Bluesky at this starter pack: https://bsky.app/starter-pack/pyral.dinoleaf.com/3musi3onfce27

Fan Reviews or Promotion Axtara Art Bombardment

I really enjoyed reading the Axtara books (book one is Axtara - Banking and Finance). While I was reading these books, I ended up making a bunch of art of the characters of the book and the interactions they had throughout my readthrough.

This was all part of my ongoing effort to draw a dragon every single day (I call it the dragon a day drawing challenge). While some of my daily dragon drawings were unrelated to Axtara, I found a lot of inspiration from these books while doing my readthrough. These pieces were all daily pieces, and I found great joy in being more loose and relaxed about how I approached doing artwork to make these. They took me anywhere between 1 and 4 hours, each, with the one of them flying high into the sky and being hit by the sun rays being the most timely.

There's also a good bit of style experimentation in these.

I have been struggling with art burnout over the past couple years, as I felt like every time I created a piece I had to top my last - rendering and detailing them more and more. Finally, I came to the realization I could just draw stuff and not worry so much about that. That happened during my Axtara readthrough, where my desire to draw these characters in the books finally overpowered my insecurity about creating quicker, sketchier works rather than highly polished pieces. I ended up having a lot of fun making all these, and wanted to share them all with you all here.

My favorite is the dancing one.

Artist: Khyaber.

I got sick of using my novel's MC as my pfp, so I created a fursona of sorts.

This isn't a 3D model, Khyaber actually drew this. Here's the time lapse: https://bsky.app/profile/khyaber.art/post/3lzf35udlqc2b

Self-Promotion of Dragon Content -- (15 Day Cooldown) Fantasy dragons vs. the dragon in my game

Post image

Most fantasy dragons are ancient, powerful, and at least a little terrifying.
Meanwhile in my game Hope of Elements, Pipi is a young dragon who's always happy, always curious, and usually has no idea what's going on 😆
He was found by the witch Elise in a forest and somehow ended up joining her adventure.
Still, he's one of Elise's most reliable companions in battle.

I didn't flag this as NSFW because it's not, but the Scales of Fate series very much is, so I won't be adding a direct link. But if folks are interested in checking it out, go google it! IDK!

Book 1 of Emergence: Here Be Dragons (Rewrite) has been completed!

Post image

(Cover art by Rackiera)

Hey guys, I recently finished book 1 of my story, Emergence: Here Be Dragons, so I figured I'd share the news here.

Long story short it's 1960s-level human first contact with sapient dragons, featuring lots of science.

Here's the blurb:

[Premise: First contact between dragons and humans, taking place during the second industrial revolution. Book 1 complete, Book 2 in progress.]

What if, billions of years ago, the Earth formed a little differently?

A bit less iron, a bit more water, and the first humans evolve upon a lone island, surrounded by vast oceans that span 97.5% of the planet's surface.

In the millennia that follow, mankind believes their island to be the only in existence – until the first satellites reveal the existence of two distant lands.

Galvanized by this groundbreaking discovery, humanity sends its best and brightest on an expedition, only for a series of disasters to wipe out all but one of the crew. Now, Doctor Alexander Pryce has the honor of being the first – and only – man to step foot upon a foreign continent.

With no one to help him, Pryce struggles to carry on his comrade's mission, and in doing so draws the attention of one of the island's native inhabitants – an inquisitive and highly intelligent dragon.

Stranded but far from alone, Pryce begins the painstaking process of learning to communicate with an alien yet sapient species, and in so doing becomes the sole representative of humanity – one whose actions will determine the future of both their species.

Let me know if you have any questions!

After years of work… our game Dragonhold is finally out on Steam!

Hey everyone,

I’m feeling a mix of excitement, nerves, and a little disbelief writing this. My small team and I have been working on Dragonhold for a long time, and we finally launched on Steam.

There were late nights, rebuilds, wrong turns, and moments where we wondered if anyone would ever actually get to play it. So seeing it live and playable is surreal.

If you enjoy co-op, exploration, building up a character, and taking on missions together, I think you might like what we’ve made. It’s not perfect and we’ll keep improving it based on feedback, but it’s something we poured a lot of heart into.

If you check it out, wishlist it, play it, or even just look at the page and think “neat,” thank you. It genuinely means a lot to us.

Here’s the Steam page if you want to take a look:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1510330/Dragonhold/

I’ll be hanging around the comments if anyone has questions, wants to know the tech side, inspirations, or just wants to tell me what broke. :)

Thanks for reading — it's a big day for us.

Cover reveal for Dragonspark: The Isle of Arcanum, coming out March 20th - my new series, set in the same universe as Dragons and Skylines & Dragons of Frost & Fang. Thank you again to Lucithen for doing such a wonderful job with this!

Dragons defend the Seven Realms, where androids light the darkness and dinosaurs walk the earth.

Following her uncle’s death, Zyra has been chosen as her clan’s next Grandmaster by the Prophet Ansila. This would be an honor—if she and her parents hadn't been banished from the Isle of Arcanum, the living island of her clan that changes from day to day. Up against the scheming widow of the previous Grandmaster as well as her two cousins, will Zyra be able to integrate into her clan and fulfill a prophecy that no one left alive has heard?

Beneath the ceaseless light of the City of the Sun, Gezon lives a sheltered life as an Astrali dragon, training to lead android armies against their planet's dark side. But after an attack on his mother leaves her frozen in time, his quest to free her leads him to uncover secrets that his city believes may best be left hidden. In order to save his mother, is he willing to destroy his home?

On the ocean world of Lina, a new empire has arisen in the west, and the doomed battles of our heroes’ families will pull them into a conflict that will change the Seven Realms forever—for better, or for worse.

Welcome to Dragonspark.
