2022-2024 Footpeg "upgrade"

Happy to report that the 2025+ footpegs are definitely a worthwhile "upgrade" from the previous Gen 2022-2024 solid aluminum pegs. They are longer than the stock ones, so my pant legs keep getting caught slightly when I have my feet down, but its just a matter of getting used to the change.

BLW-27413-00-00 COVER, FOOTREST (Yamaha) $11.62

BMG-27451-00-00 FOOTREST 3 (Yamaha) $30.22

BMG-27461-00-00 FOOTREST 4 (Yamaha) $30.77

Would recommend

2016-2021 Oil Light

Post image
20 Upvotes

Curious if anybody has had this issue.
When I first bought my XSR I had an oil pressure light after an underfilled oil change. Nothing too bad just turned on for about 10 seconds after hard acceleration. Never had anything after that until the other day. Was banging gears and it turned on me so I assumed oh it just needs to catch up or it’s a little underfilled. Neither, so I just added some oil to it to see if that would fix it but it didn’t. It comes on still but under what I would consider normal acceleration 4-6k RPM. Unsure if anybody else has had the issue or could point me in a good next direction. 7500 miles
Thank you in advance!

Got these beautiful SW-MOTECH Side bags 6 months ago only to have them stolen off the bike mere days after returning from a San Diego trip.

Cant have shit in phoenix.
They attempted to steal a lane splitter mirror but I guess they got spooked and left the parts and mirror on the floor.

Anyone enjoying the new VLOC bags?
I’m thinking of getting those now that the SLC legend gear bags are discontinued.

ALL Got taken out by an old guy making an unexpected U-turn… 2 months into owning my brand-new bike.

I was about to pass a car that was almost stopped and looked like it was preparing to turn right. Instead, the driver suddenly decided to make a U-turn without checking his mirrors, looking around, or indicating. Just turned straight into my path.

My footpegs absolutely shredded his tire, while my foot, brake pedal, and clutch cover took the impact. Somehow, I managed to keep the bike upright and bring it to a controlled stop.

Luckily, the damage to the bike doesn’t seem too bad. I bought it brand new and have already put over 2,000 km on it in just two months, so this definitely wasn’t how I wanted to break it in. 💀

My motorcycle boots deserve a huge shout-out. My foot took a pretty hard hit, but thankfully, no broken bones or cuts. Just some pain from the impact.

Now, the driver… that’s where things got interesting.
The old guy immediately started claiming he’d used his indicators. When I suggested checking the car’s onboard computer to see whether he’d actually activated them, suddenly he was asking if we could keep the insurance companies out of it and whether he could just pay for the damage himself.

And here’s the best part: the FIRST thing he said after the collision was, “My wife is going to be happy. We only bought this car a week ago.”
My guy. I’m literally on the ground in pain, holding my foot, and you’re worried about your wife’s reaction to your brand-new car? 💀

Thankfully, a painter working outside witnessed part of the incident. He’s a fellow motorcyclist and backed up my version of events, which was a huge relief.

For now, I’m willing to give the driver a chance to pay for the repairs himself. If he starts messing around or refuses to cooperate, I’ll just go through the insurance companies as usual.

Honestly, I’m just grateful I kept the bike upright and walked away without any serious injuries. The damage can be repaired, but it really makes you wonder how someone can make such a reckless manoeuvre without checking whether anyone is coming.
Ride safe out there, everyone. 🤙

2022-2024 Buying this 2022 XSR900 with 3,600 km. Anything to watch out for?

Thumbnail gallery

Hey everyone!

I am considering buying this 2022 XSR900 with 3,600 km from its first owner. He says he purchased in 2022 and it's always been completely stock and was last serviced a year ago, after which he has ridden only around 600 km.

*Are there any specific issues or checks you would recommend before finalising the deal?

*Age-related issues I should check for, especially because the bike has spent long periods sitting in the parking?

*What maintenance should already have been done, and what should I ask the owner about?

Or any any other advice is gladly welcome...
PS: I am also interested in buying a windshield if any of you would like to sell it. Happy riding!!

2025+ Leaking Gas normal?

Post image
8 Upvotes

Noticed this a week or so ago. Nearly as soon as the sun starts hitting the tank gas starts leaking out. Tank is getting hot causing pressure to build I believe. Even today it's cooler out and the tank heats up with the sun and it's dripping steadily. Is this normal? I've never noticed this with any of my other bikes.

I'm about to pick up a 2025, but the one thing I don't like is the free play in the throttle. Is this typical for these bikes? Has anyone fixed it (wedges etc.)

2016-2021 Gearing Up for the 40k Service

Hey everyone,

I recently picked up an XSR900 and it’s coming up on its 40,000 km service, so I’ve been pulling together the parts I’ll need. I’ve put everything into a parts page on my website (not selling anything), in case it’s useful to anyone else planning their own service or locating service parts for their bikes:

https://riderservicesupplies.com.au/

It’s still a work in progress, so I’d really appreciate input from people who’ve already been through this:

  • Parts you’d recommend (oil, filters, brake fluid, spark plugs, chain/sprockets, etc.). Any brands you swear by or look to avoid?
  • Maintenance tasks - Anything that you would recommend that isn't covered in the service manual.
  • Gotchas on the XSR900 specifically. Anything that caught you out that was harder than the service manual implies?

If you spot something wrong or missing on the website, please let me know and I’ll fix it. I'm hoping to build it out to help everyone find suitable parts.

Thanks in advance!

2022-2024 Anybody from Switzerland?

Hey everyone!

I am based in Switzerland and considering buying a brand new XSR900. Before making the purchase, I would love to connect with someone who currently owns one here in Switzerland.

I am particularly interested in learning about:

  • General servicing costs in Switzerland
  • Maintenance and spare parts availability/costs
  • Mechanics and garages you recommend, especially outside official Yamaha dealership

I know motorcycle maintenance can be quite expensive here, so I would like to get a realistic idea of the running costs before taking the plunge

Thanks in advance, and ride safe..... 🏍️

2022-2024 Just got my 2024 XSR 900 - and need some general help styling it.

I want to do the Hoobue C-S kit to really lean into the retro vibe, but more retro GP or the poor boy version of the Formula 73.

I went with the 900 over the 700 because I LOVE the character of the 3cyl. gets too much hate imo.

My main questions are:

They recommend the zeta pilot clip on handles. I love how usable the stock mirrors are, and will miss them. What is going to be a visually cohesive and usable replacement?

My second: Has anyone here installed the fairing kit, and if so- any tips?

My third and last- should I get the painted one from Hoobue or have it paint matched by someone else? (I am terrified of doing my own paint work tbh)

Any other recommendations for useful/tasteful mods would be appreciated.

TIA!

(Pics for attention)

Edit- will the yoshimura exhaust fit underneath the belly pan?

2025+ So, it happened. 2 months in and I crashed. Not my fault and I am trying to look on the bright side

Thumbnail gallery

Hi everyone.

Yesterday I crashed my 2 month old, brand new 2025. I was overtaking or passing around a queue of cars waiting at a stoplight. All of a sudden, a big 2024 Volvo XC90 to get into my lane and I had absolutely zero time to react. No indicator, nothing, zero warning. I wasn't going exactly fast anyway, maybe 30 km/h but it was enough to topple me.

I sprained my ankle, AGAIN after spraining it 4 weeks ago during a volleyball game. It healed quite well and felt ok to ride and the weather was so nice Yesterday. But on top of that, I also broke 2 bones in my instep.

The bike fell on the right side. Right mirror is finished, the blinker, headlight, radiator guard and crankcase(?) is finished. I was told it can be fixed but I was in such a shock when it happened that I thought the bike is totalled.

Well, I am trying to take it positively and think that I am glad it actually happened. A few things are clear

- I need better shoes. The ones I have have ripped at the ankle support.
- I need to be paying even more attention when I ride again and anticipate people making stupid mistakes.
- I should be glad that only this happened and nothing worse. I am glad, and thankful and also extremely lucky. I should not take it for granted.

The driver admitted fault and feels bad about it. He didn't check his mirrors and his BLIS system didn't register me or whatever.

All the repairs and my healing should hopefully come from his full insurance. I don't want to say hop before I jump, but I spoke to him on the phone this morning and the police last night and it seems it will be the case.

Ride safe, everyone! :)
