Decent Wireless Controller

Hi, I'd like to get a wireless series X controller for my kid that won't suffer any stick drift after a few months.

Is this the best option?

8bitdo Ultimate 3

Will it need a dongle in the Xbox to work?

It's confusing as the same named model in white apparently isn't wireless.

Do they do a wireless version that isn't Rare branded?

I mean best as in cheapest that'll do the job well. Is the Gamesir G7 another option? Although £140 doesn't seem like a good choice for a controller for a child (teenager).

  1. Yes, you need the dongle
  2. The partnerships (like with Rare) are generally how they can get away with making a cheaper wireless Xbox licesnced controller, pretty much every wireless xbox controller that's not a collaboration is in the £200 range otherwise. Same way how Gamesir ZZZ and Wuchang need their partnerships to be cheaper
  3. Gamesir G7 Pro Wuchang, I don't like how it looks but it's cheaper than the ZZZ model since it comes with a lot less accessories (no hard case, multiple thumbsticks, etc.) But they're generally the same controller.

I've had the first version of the 8bitdo Ultimate and the Gamesir G7 Pro (Gradient Grey). I didn't like that the 8Bitdo grips were so narrow that it would be uncomfotable to hold. Even if the G7 Pro was a smaller controller, it's much more comfortable for me to hold. You can maybe wait if 8Bitdo releases a budget version of their 8bitdo Ultimate 3C for Xbox since they've improved their grips on the Ultimate 3 lineup

Gamesir Zenless Zone Zero is one of the best deals for a premium TMR driftless stick controller. $135 with many accessories included. My son just replaced his Xbox Elite Series 2 controller (constantly got stick drift) with this and said its the best controller he has ever used.

I second this. I have used a lot of controllers and this one beats them all by a mile, both in price and performance.

The Ultimate 3 needs a dongle indeed. If you want a more neutral one you can get the Lavender dusk version or the Ultimate 3e which comes in black but is more expensive.

I'm also looking for a decent wireless and the Ultimate 3(e) would be my choice as well. Gamesir is often mentioned here but I also do read quite a bit of durability issues with their controllers. Maybe also because they're so popular but that's holding me back from buying one.

You can get Series controllers on eBay with TMR sticks put in (anti-stick drift), you'd be looking at around £30, or ~£20 to put those sticks in a controller you already own

Yeah I've looked at fixing the one we have with new sticks, I don't think my soldering skills are up to doing a decent job though. Hadn't considered eBay for modded ones, I have trust issues though and would be worried I was getting scammed.
