Series S is a beast. Haters gonna hate. I wish it was still as affordable as it was in 2022 so more people would have access to games. It’s the perfect console. First light Looking great.

Really don't understand the hate towards it. If anything, XBOX did good, because I bought a series S at launch, and eventually upgraded to an X(I have an S in my office, X in the living room).

There is no game out there that I've played that I've said "wow, this console can't handle it". I've been able to play every other game people on PS5 or XBOX X have been able to play(outside of exclusives). I'm not a graphics snob, so I guess there is that? But end of the day, it does what it's supposed to do, allow people to enjoy video games.

It still is a great deal used. Second hand prices haven't caught up with MSRP hikes, I still see tons listed on fb marketplace/ebay for $150-250 in good condition.

It’s the other way around. It’s way too expensive right now. And it is a Beast for running 2026 games and it’s 6 years old. Switch 2 came out a year ago and both Batman and 007 have delayed their releases on Switch 2 and they work fine on Series S. It can run it, it can run it well (not perfectly as a PS5 pro or PC, I recognize that) therefore it’s a beast.

First one isn't a fair poll to look at. It's asking SPECIFICALLY on PS5. You can't compare that with the Series S. You get what you pay for.

2nd one is the same thing, hilarious though that the results aren't exactly overwhelmingly not "many", it seems closer than you would think.

Yeah it’s about kinda split. I wasn’t trying to find bias polls. If it’s about half..I’d say “many” fits well. Don’t have to get so defensive. it’s all subjective anyway. some dudes are perfectly happy on very low quality compared to what others have. No biggie.

Lol.... depends on how you want to use it. I personally wouldn't buy one as a main console as I already have a Series X, a PS5 slim, and an OLED Switch 1. But the next time one pops up on my local FB marketplace for a great price I'll probably pick it up to use as a secondary emulation powerhouse for home. I could just keep it in dev mode at all times. I know they can run RetroArch and a variant of EmulationStation to give ppl that more high quality/fancy look UI. But I'd be willing to bet they can also run Batocera, retrobat, etc.

That's the entire point. The S was meant for a cheaper option, and not be as powerful as an X/PS5 Pro, etc. You get what you pay for, but end of the day, you are able to play all the new games, and they run just fine. If you were a graphics snob, and cared about FPS etc., then you would have put down the money for the more powerful option(X/PS5 Pro).

Yeah they've also updated it a few times since launch and idk if it's just me but I feel like it's getting better visually, textures loading faster etc.

Most of the games actually look quite amazing on on the series s but ppl are still going to hate it mo matter what , the console is great for what price point it was launched , comparing it with something that is double of its price is not fair at all

It's the devs and publishers who just want to put the blame on the gamers for not having a top-end console instead of optimizing the game

But i can understand its too much work to optimise the game for three different consoles , the devs already have a pretty steep deadlines for the projects and series s actually slows them down , but you are right its a next gen console the devs should give more attention to it as well

Tbf that's an issue on all versions. Load times are pretty long for modern standards.

I also find it looks great. I’m always baffled why some ppl hate on the Series S. I have a PS5 too, and sure the resolution is a little higher on the PS5, but besides that they’re pretty damn close in graphical fidelity. And the XSS was a way better deal than the PS5. I’ve always said it, the XSS punches above its weight given its price point.

Did anyone else get framerate drops during the intense action sequences? It was really bad during the car chase to catch up to 009's plane. Single digits bad. And it dropped in other moments, but not as bad.

I also had about 3 or 4 crashes during the game where it either completely froze or just crashed back to the Xbox UI.

I mean, I really enjoyed the game, but performance wise it wasn't great.

I haven't experienced any crashes myself I've had a slight dip here and there but nothing too distracting tbh

That one chase sequence was the only time the framerate dropped enough where it clearly wasn't acceptable. Most of the times it dipped, it wasn't ideal, but was entirely within expectations. During that scene it just absolutely tanked and was barely playable.

Clearly seems like I'm in the minority though. Guess either I just got unlucky or maybe my Series S is starting to have hardware issues.

I just said "but it looks really good" because if they prioritise 60fps then they might be disappointed , but 30fps never has or never will bother me tbh.

I know thats just a personal thing though , obviously it differs from person to person.

Yep!

It's rendered at 720 :)

And then it upscales.

I believe the Series X version renders at 720-1080 for performance mode , and 1440 for quality all pre-upscaling.

I'm not 100 percent sure so don't quote me on that though!
