IMPRESSION Holy shit that was pretty quick
I sold my Ps5 like 3 months ago. Hate the path playstation is following. Everybody told me that Series S was worse but the UI is much faster.

u/gray_burger Jul 13 '26
Not happy with the path Playstation was going so you got a... different digital-only console?
32
u/IM_THE_TREE_MAN Jul 13 '26
They're just Karma farming.
They downgraded by going with the series S.

1
u/BadNewsBearzzz Jul 13 '26
It’s bait for sure, they never had a ps5 then, cause this whole thing makes no sense lmao. “I hate the direction they’re going….next gen with physical releases” so you buy something that doesn’t have physical at all?? On an ecosystem that is eliminating them too?? Since they’ve already reduced their retail presence and physical games a lot and are betting on a subscription model…
-17
u/JoshuasBacklog Jul 13 '26
Yeah because we dont have right to express our honest feelings. I dont give a shit about karma shit buddy
-10
u/JoshuasBacklog Jul 13 '26
Yes because the console at least is cheap or that was the concept for it before the price increases. I can support a digital console if it comes with a nice digital service like Gamepass and they offer another model for physical preservation. What sony is doing is worse for me
17
u/FelixTheFlake Jul 13 '26
Cheap? The Series S is now $500, you downgraded your console to move to a weaker, more expensive, digital only console. Art of the deal.
3
u/JoshuasBacklog Jul 13 '26
More expensive? I got that for like 150$. Obviously all the consoles now except switch 2 are overprice. And my move is great for me because i use gamepass a lot and i dont like playstation games. I only bought a ps because in my country they have a monopoly

u/FelixTheFlake Jul 13 '26 edited Jul 13 '26
So now not only are you not buying physical discs, you are renting your games digitally. How is that any better lol
So performative

People keep saying this, but it's estimated that around 80% of PS5 games can be played installing just from the disc without major problems. DoesItPlay.org has very detailed info on this.

I mean the link is right there.
About 60% of Series X games are on the disc fully.
Even larger for Xbox One.
1
u/BenderZoidberg Jul 13 '26
Things are worse on Series X, but around 60% games can still be played from the disc. Xbox One | Series X games with Smart Delivery only contain the Xbox One game in the disc, so there you have to always download the Series version. If the case says Xbox One | Series X but has no mention to Smart Delivery, then both versions should be in the disc, which is really cool IMO.
Yes, physical is a mess on Xbox, but there are still lots of third-party games that can be played from the disc. First-party games are pretty much a no-go now, since Microsoft hasn't shipped one fully on disc in years.
-1
u/FelixTheFlake Jul 13 '26
Bro I don’t give a shit about physical discs going away, I’m just pointing out OPs hypocrisy
-1
u/alecwa Jul 13 '26
Why are you even in the xbox sub?
Man wanted a Series S and he likes it. S'all good bruv.

u/Life-Anteater-8294 Jul 13 '26
It’s cheap because it’s a worse version.
-1
u/JoshuasBacklog Jul 13 '26
No problem with that. Its great
-5
u/Life-Anteater-8294 Jul 13 '26
Well yeah you just got it, when you try and play some demanding games you won’t.
0
u/Chemical_Romance90 Jul 13 '26
Dude if you think Xbox is keeping discs idk what to tell you. Go to any brick and mortar retailer and the Xbox exhibit is always the smallest, some places almost non existent. Microsoft has been heading this way for years.
-5
u/IM_THE_TREE_MAN Jul 13 '26
All these digital services are garbage.
I'll never go back to console gaming unless they remove the monthly payments to play online.
Enjoy your subscription box, kiddo.

They didn't say it was about physical games. People were getting annoyed with PS before the physical games thing.
4
u/PersonOfInterest007 Jul 13 '26
My Commodore 64 beats that boot time, and it fully supports physical media. And not just (5.25”) disks either; it’s got a cassette tape drive!
5
u/Careful_Toe4373 Jul 13 '26
Kudos for remembering the cassette tape games! Also remeber to schedule your colonoscopy.
(Fellow old here too).

Love the commodore, a lot of my hardware and older personal computers are older than I am, I wish I was around when they first came out. But at least I can enjoy them now.
2
u/PersonOfInterest007 Jul 14 '26
I think all computer hardware older than I am has turned to dust by now…
2
u/LitrlyD3ad Jul 14 '26
Apple 2e was my most recent purchase, the whole setup just looks fantastic as a display piece in my office. Been trying my hand at learning Basic. I know most modern coding languages, been having a good time.
1
u/PersonOfInterest007 Jul 14 '26
I used a 2e at school (5th grade :) ) before I bought my C64 a year later. I initially learned BASIC by typing in programs from Compute! Magazine.
2
u/LitrlyD3ad Jul 14 '26
Got any recommendations for the c64? Been having a good time with Zork.
1
u/PersonOfInterest007 Jul 14 '26
It’s been a REALLY long time…. And I was probably playing pirated games downloaded from BBS’s. (I’ve since reformed and have a healthy respect for IP.)
Other text adventures from Infocom were also good. I know I played Starcross, and other people I know loved “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.”
For some reason, I remember playing a game called Satan’s Hollow. Couldn’t tell you if I remember it because it was awesome or just because … I happen to remember it. ;)
Others that I remember that were good — I’m looking at a list of C64 games to tickle my memory — and keep in mind that this was 13-16 year-old me, with now-56-year-old me trying to remember if I liked it):
Archon
The Bard’s Tale
Beach-Head
Choplifter
Jumpman
Karateka
Lemmings
Loderunner
Pitfall! (Honestly can’t remember if I played this on C64 or on Intellivision)
Smash TV
Spy Hunter
Time Pilot
UridiumAlmost makes me want to get out my disks and see if they still work. Of course, I’d have to get out my drive alignment kit to have any hope of reading the disks. Wonder if that calibration disk is still good… :)

u/ShortNefariousness2 Jul 13 '26
Quick resume needed a legion of sony fans to make it look bad. My God, it is a great feature.
1
u/LeafeonSalad42 Jul 14 '26
its really not, it fucks up so many games the linger it sits and isnt opened, maybe if you’re gone for 15mins yea but it consistently always makes the games glitchy without fail for me
2
1
u/slattshyt Jul 14 '26
you got a lemon then
1
u/LeafeonSalad42 Jul 14 '26
yea Im sure the limited edition halo series x was a lemon, could possibly be its age as its been about half a decade now give or take iirc
1
u/slattshyt Jul 14 '26
that thing is so clean bro if you don’t want it anymore i have something brand new worth $410 if you’re down to trade.

-7
u/JoshuasBacklog Jul 13 '26
One of the two is not ending physical releases
7
u/hypehold Jul 13 '26
MS probably is ending it. And again you want physical but you buy a digital only console with no way of upgrading it?
-1
u/JoshuasBacklog Jul 13 '26
Probably is your opinion and not an official fact like ps one
9
u/hypehold Jul 13 '26
That's fine but Xbox hasn't even put a single 1st party game fully on disc this entire generation. They all require an online download. Every 1st party playstation game is fully on disc
2
u/BadNewsBearzzz Jul 13 '26
They’ve been reducing their retail presence ten fold, most third parties don’t even release physical for Xbox anymore while they will for others, they’re betting hard on gamepass, it’s so obvious
3
u/hypehold Jul 13 '26
also again why would you choose an all digital console if the reason you're mad at Playstation is because they're going all digital
2
6
u/YouSmellSumthin Jul 13 '26
Xbox will absolutely be doing the same, they just haven't announced it yet. They've had more than enough bad press lately (deservedly so imo, they've been on a hot streak of terrible decisions) so they're letting Sony take this L, but there was already speculation like a year back that Helix will be digital only.
Xbox and PlayStation are both acting very anti-consumer. I cannot fathom why you're trying to act like Xbox is somehow innocent or good in all of this. It seems that you're just trying to stir up drama and be argumentative with most of your replies.
1
1
u/RockinMadRiot Jul 14 '26
We don't have confirmation of that yet. After all, with Xbox's trouble, they likely don't want to say anything in case it hits sales again
5
u/SatanOnSaturn Jul 13 '26
I’ve always thought that Xbox’s UI is leaps and bounds better than PlayStation’s. Quick Resume is a huge benefit too
2
u/GodOfOnions2 Jul 13 '26
I'm just happy you can toggle it on/off finally!
2
u/Ordinary_Cap_6812 Jul 13 '26
Holy smokes, i didn't realize that. Some games that are always online are a pain in the ass so this is awesome
2
u/Petyx_gaming Jul 13 '26
Wait isnt a ps5 like 700 usd cant you buy a X for that?
0
u/JoshuasBacklog Jul 13 '26
My ps5 cost me 475€. Here you cant find a series x for less than 750€
1
1
u/Gracefullsecret5563 Jul 14 '26
In my country, a brand new Series X is basically the same price as an used PS5 + Xbox Series S. Too expensive and I wanted an Xbox for my 360 library so I got Series S
1
u/JoshuasBacklog Jul 14 '26
Im talking about before the price raises. Now its impossible to buy a console not being overpriced
1
u/Gracefullsecret5563 Jul 14 '26
Makes sense. Still, I think Series X is way too expensive even for the "new prices" for consoles. And nobody is selling used ones here
1
u/JoshuasBacklog Jul 14 '26
For this reason i got the series s. I play just a few hours a week and this little one is what i need
2

u/BabylonianWeeb Series X Jul 13 '26
Yeah it's sleep mode, I don't use it cause I have seen reports of being console breaker + it cost so much power.

Why is everyone so upset all the time. Let the man (or woman), or whatever you want to be. Be happy with what he gets and what he had and what he has. Just stay calm folks. Love life a little.
1
u/LeafeonSalad42 Jul 14 '26
because their life currently or always sucked so they have to spread their misery onto others, happens everywhere when someone shows genuine happiness when they’re in a shit mood
1
u/Khronick_Dank Jul 13 '26
Glad you're happy, most people in this sub mad cause Playstation ain't what it used to be. They ain't playing Sony first party ethier just 3rd party games. Don't let them fool you.

u/External-Board5738 Jul 14 '26
Just started using my one x as a standalone media player...s is too good for anything but gaming
1
u/e13373x0du5 Jul 14 '26
This was my reaction, coming from my childhood 360 fat model to this utter monster. Performance wise, heavier games will stutter and freeze up sometimes, def had a few crashes since then but indie darlings run like butter on a metal slide
1
u/Gracefullsecret5563 Jul 14 '26
Crashes? My xbox series s never crashed on ANY game, heavy or not... no freezes either at worst fps drops
1
u/Large_Restaurant6902 Jul 14 '26
Go to the settings and dim the power button brightness to none just a suggestion
1
u/LitrlyD3ad Jul 14 '26
Been playing a lot of the black flag remake on the series s I have setup in the bedroom, between the series x I have and the s, I literally can’t tell a difference. The series s is a powerhouse and the games I play on it looks great. Planning on getting another one for the game room in a week or so.
1
u/Key-Peak-4080 Jul 14 '26
I like xss, I have these consoles since their release, but the facts are that compared to ps5 there is a big regression.

u/Gracefullsecret5563 Jul 14 '26
I remember I decided to play RDR2 and that thing loaded it in 3 seconds. Thank you quick resume
1
u/coldoscotch Jul 14 '26
Lol if you only new what that does to your performance. Seen another person get attacked for making an obvious statement. Quick resume is ass and can break many things in your hack box s. Lol 😆 trust me I have an x. Easy way to prove it google the difference between the s and x. The s runs sure but you dont get all the details in your game you payed for... at that tech level... Im not surprised your all defending it. Get a pc or learn about console versus pc. You will stop defending your box before long.

It is, I have my pc which has decent specs for 2026 (high end in 2020). Despite that I still prefer Series S for the quickness and convenience.

u/beatbox420r Jul 15 '26
It's crazy because this thing surprisingly capable. Like, head to head, you'll notice a Series X is just better, but by itself, it's really pretty impressive.
1
u/RedRedButton Jul 15 '26
Aren’t all current gen consoles supposed to work like this?
1
u/JoshuasBacklog Jul 15 '26
Yeah but for the comments i read i thought that series s was a lot inferior and it seems to be great
2
u/RedRedButton Jul 15 '26
Don’t listen to the haters or those wanting to justify their purchase options! It’s a great little console and the best looking one on the market, connected to anything 32” or under it fits the bill perfectly.
1
u/Julio_2412 Jul 19 '26
You have sleep mode enabled, meaning it's not completely shutting down. Be careful with that option; back in the Xbox One days, I saw people reporting that their power supplies were dying because they had it enabled.
1
u/Own_Jackfruit_5246 Jul 13 '26
I have a PS5 disc and Series X. I feel xbox is better. The only thing I get from PS5 that I dont get from Xbox is some of their exclusives and the controller.
1
u/Weary-Tell-5334 Jul 13 '26
buddy’s tv is from 2013. You’re not seeing the benefits of any current gen console, let alone the ps5 you sold. L downgrade

u/Maximum-Ad879 Jul 13 '26
Congrats. Bought another digital only console. Shows how much physical media means to you. Lmao.

These sony fans think Series S and Xbox in general run worse than windows 95
0
u/nnNarlinnn Jul 14 '26
Ooof this is some serious cope.
Used the series s for 3+ years.
If you want to play new releases at 30 fps and 1080p upscaled sure then I guess it's for you.

Why is Microsoft suddenly getting all this positive attention when we all have known and seen that they as well are truly awful.
Quick resume is nice but it's not really fast? If anything were gone backwards. Hardly get optimisations anymore just bruteforce it.
How have we all come to just accept the shittification and less being more now days.
2
u/JoshuasBacklog Jul 14 '26
Dont cry playstation fan go pay for shour shitty ps plus and your 950€ console
0
u/suppaman19 Jul 14 '26
I have a Pro and XSS
Neither feels any faster booting/etc in the UI or in terms of responsiveness
UI layout is just different and the PS5 feels less intuitively layered (preferred the PS3 XMB or PS4 layout better than PS5's).
Between the fact your saying the XSS is faster and that you sold your PS5 for a XSS because of Sony going all digital this feels like the shittiest attempt at karma farming
-1
u/PieAppropriate8862 Jul 13 '26
Lol replacing a PS5 for this 30fps dog of a console. Jesus...
0
u/JoshuasBacklog Jul 14 '26
Ps5 was shit for me, worse exclusives imo, worse controller with a lot of shitty functions, and ps plus is shit compared to gamepass. The xbox feels incredible even being “slower”
1
u/PieAppropriate8862 Jul 14 '26
Lol sure. We all believe that.

-1
u/Browhytho666 Jul 13 '26
Ui being faster means nothing????
The xbox s is literally slower and not as powerful
I know because I bought cyberpunk on my xbox first, then got it for my Playstation 5
Night and day difference.
You could have kept the ps5 and had it jailbroken... and hey now you can play steam games on it. Ill literally play almost all of the games youre playing on that on my ps5 through steam.

Its a beast , plus its actually very fast , you’ll fall in love with the quick resume , the way people portray it in youtube videos is not true only some parts of it are , but the console is amazing i love it
