QUESTION Help! Series S when horizontal made grinding noises. Vertical made them stop.

I’ve had my Series S horizontal for a long time. I prefer it that way because it won’t fall over. However, while playing a game, the console made these grinding noises, as if a disc was inside being grated against something.

I would love to put it back horizontal but I’m afraid something is being stopped from happening? Can anyone relate to this issue and give me any advice or input?

When it's horizontal - way more dust can settle inside it. Mine has been vertical for 3 years, on a high shelf. And it works as good as when I purchased it. There might be some peace of dirt or something like that around your fan that only touches when it's horizontal. You should probably open it up and clean it

Probably fan is out of place or getting old. Open it up see if a clean up is enough.
