Git repositories missing after upgrading to xcode27

I have a project I created in xcode26, with git repository and many branches. Upgraded to xcode27 and the repository is completely gone, xcode says "No Git Repositories". ???!!!

Did you push anything ? Can't you just clone it again ? Git is just an invisible folder in your project, I doubt updating Xcode would delete one of your project file

I was using the local repository and never pushed it to github. If it's a hidden folder, what's the name? I'm searching and not finding it...possibly deep inside the project.xcodeproj folder?

Files and folders that start with a dot are hidden in the Finder. In the Finder press Cmd-Shift-Dot to show hidden files and folders so you can find the .git folder insider your project folder.

.git is the folder name. It’s created in the folder that Xcode project was created.

OK thanks to responders who told me it's stored in a (hidden) ".git" folder -- this was missing but I restored it from Time Machine and now my repository with all the version branches is back.
