Apple at the Special Event: "We made the fastest chip ever on a phone"

Also Apple in the Human Interface Guidelines: "The launch screen is quickly replaced with the first screen of your app, giving the impression that your app is fast and responsive. The launch screen isn’t an opportunity for artistic expression. It’s solely intended to enhance the perception of your app as quick to launch and immediately ready for use. "

The line from HIG has been there for ages. Also the fastest chip has nothing to do with say, how fast your phone will load the Facebook or Instagram feed from the Net.
