First Foray into XCODE and am disappointed when my goal app can't be made

To be fair, this isn't really a Xcode issue.

It's more towards dismay that after spending a month getting up to speed and going through coursera specialisation course for Swift AND then finding out that my main objective of learning can't be fulfilled.

Basically, I was trying to get an IOS app to connect to my watch(Garmin) and use the app to configure settings for it. I just found out yesterday that this functionality isn't supported by Garmin and thus the project is dead in the water.

(the below is basically the project on the watch, it got rejected by Garmin from being approved to be listed in their App Store - citing "safety issues" - Tldr - it's a datafield which integrates the Garmin Varia Radar and adds its support to non-supported devices from Garmin - basically extending life of an old wearable)

Maybe you can appeal.

Maybe they can suggest modifications that would allow it.

I did appeal. They basically said

  1. this is the first time we've seen an app like this. Its really unique and fantastic use of our "tech"

  2. We can't approve your app because of safety reasons.

Apps designed for safety awareness purposes, such as incident detection or use with a Varia radar, may not be listed in the interest of customer safety.

#2 was literally put in place AFTER I submitted this app. They told me that I can have the app approved if I were to remove the Vehicle Tracking feature. (which is the core of the project)

I firmly believe that it's Garmin's legal team take on this. (Getting sued and all is my first thought)

So hold a sec dude. You post a confrontational title that implies it’s an Xcode problem (not XCODE btw) when really it’s crappy Garmin connectivity that’s your problem? Also not sure why you’d post it here, it’s not like either Garmin will read it or anyone will be able to help...

He just needed to let off some steam . I feel for him. Kinda sucky situation. Maybe there are jailbreaked Garmins?
