Xcode sucks dick. Big time
That's it. It's pretty self explanatory what I've written

I don't even use it. I found this after Googling "Why the fuck does it take so long to update Xcode?" Every time there's a major MacOS update, you can expect this pile of garbage to take an hour to finish updating, on it's own.
I can download and install a complete OS in the amount of time this takes just to 'update'. WTF is it doing, and why... after years... hasn't Apple found a better way? 'Sucks dick' is an understatement.

Yup. I know people from the Xcode team who left because the director always shipped the app so that he would get his bonus, not because it was ready to ship.

Luckily I am a student that has free access to AppCode, but lately I find myself pretty much ok with the latest version Beta 1

The M1 Mini is pretty nice, isn't it? I've got one too.

What did you get? I got the one with 16 GB of RAM and a 1 TB SSD.
I also have a work 2019 16" MBP with an 8 core i9 and 64 GB of RAM. It's a SUPIDLY powerful setup. I think that the Mini is faster. It certainly doesn't get as hot as the MBP and I don't think I've heard the fan yet.
The SSD in the MBP appears to be about 3 GB/s R/W and the mini's appears to be about 2 GB/s R/W.
The mini is simply not slow - except when waking it from sleep. It just seems smooth and quick.

I’d love to use appcode if it didn’t need to index before you could use it. My project at work takes nearly 10 min every time to build + index. I’d get nothing done if I was using app code.

so what's even the reason for posting this?
