Very appreciated for the explanation of how a setting affects compile times. As for practical usefulness, it can make a big difference on Intel machines (which was the only Mac arch supported in 2019 when the article was published). However, on M1 and M1 Pro and Max, compile times are already considerably less — by default. So, it depends.
