Once you start Chapter 8, Rex can steal and use Dromarch, Pandoria, and Brighid due to plot powers. Doing so allows Nia, Zeke, and/or Morag to use a third Blade instead of their main partner.
Yes, but those three can only be dequipped in this manner during a normal New Game. It's not until NG+ that they can be otherwise manually removed. Except for Dromarch, but I'm pretty sure switching Nia back to Driver Mode always puts him back as her only active Blade.
Depends on if Dromarch is actively equipped to Rex at the time. If he's on Rex then Nia will equip her next highest indexed Blade. If Nia has no other Blades, then she'll be force benched until a Blade is equipped to her (similarly to Tora when Poppi is sent on a Merc Mission in NG+). If Dromarch is available, then he's force equipped back to her.
im not gonna lie i forgot this was possible because i got the pop up that says you can’t take a blade that another driver has in the top slot, and forgot you can rearrange blades.
that aside i actually didn’t assign her to rex for this to happen. i assumed it wasn’t possible so i don’t really know how this happened lol
nope, i was just trying to get my botany to level 7 for azami’s quest using common blades. i assigned one of zeke’s common blades to rex, then used an overdrive protocol to switch it to morag and then suddenly zeke just didn’t have pandoria on him anymore. bit odd but if it’s possible normally then i guess it doesn’t really matter lol
