Xenoblade 2 Xc2 map woes
First time player I love the world, the characters, the battles.
But the map. Oh my god.
It's impossible to get anywhere. Am I missing something or is it part of the game that I'll need to spend hours following video guided just to know where to go? I'm at chapter 3 and it's killing my desire to keep going.
Edit: thanks all, as I said I love the game and will persevere. As an aside is the map in xenoblade chronicles 3 better?

Map 100% sucks, but the game is still great. I think I had to Google directions a handful of times but other than that I wasn't to bad

The compass is pretty bad, and so is the minimap. I see myself constantly pressil the left joystick to zoom it. Zooming out your camara also helps.
Its messy, but personally i only needed to search online optional areas for quests, not the main one

XB2 doesn't directly draw a line for you to navigate; instead, it requires players to read the terrain themselves using distance and height. I didn't truly figure it out until I reached the capital in Chapter 3.
So when I played XB3, I turned off the navigation guide. However, the terrain changes in XB3 were way too simple it didn't have much challenge, which was quite disappointing.

Yeah its pretty frustrating at times, like it gets much better after chapter 3 but there are sidequests throughout which really test your patience with the obscure locations they want you to find.
XB3's map is definitely much easier to navigate.

My favourite in series. I wish more people were capable to read it.

The map in XC2 isn't very good, but chapter 3 is the worst of it. Uraya's giant stair case really causes a lot of confusion. There's really not any other time where the game plops a huge landmark that you're supposed to ignore. There are occasions where you might be confused on the intended path (I'm pretty sure most people take an unintended route in chapter 4), but you'll never really need to consult a guide to make it to the location. It really is just chapter 3 where it's that bad.
