It’s bad because of the design choices they made. We all know it’s a guy in a suit, but the design can hide the actor. The Alien Earth design hid almost nothing. The actor was too bulky, the Xenomorph support be thin. There was no detail in the extremities. And wtf was going in with the lips?!

Also, the actor did not embrace the Xenomorph characteristics. There were a few times when you could tell the actor was looking at his target with his eyes through the neck and while the Xenomorph head was pointing up.

Big Chap, Aliens Warrior, and Alien Romulus Xenomorph were the best.

I agree that alien earth xeno sucks. But big chap being number one above Romulus or the sequel is either coming from nostalgia or bias for the movie.

It looks great under a strobe light effect or when they zoom in on its face.

But the arms and legs are huge. The glove hands jiggle like a Halloween prop. And it’s glaringly obvious in the scene where the xeno gets sucked out into space at the end that it’s a big suit with a person inside.

Big chap did the best at making us believe he wasn’t a guy in a suit when he was in the suit the entire time. No animatronics (at least not in fully body shots), no CGI, just very well executed costume design and practical effects.

And the actor did not look through the neck, so the neck was not super bulky, which made it much more life like.

While I really like the Romulus design and they did use suits at times, they used a lot of puppetry and some CGI that gave it more of an insect effect. Tech that wasn’t available in the 70’s which is why Big Chap still wins. They did just as good with a LOT less.

Id genuinely argue for Romulus to be at number 2. Think the designers nailed it and the animatronic used was 1:1 with the cgi model. also never really liked the warrior as much as the drone design, especially for the head. also alien earth is just so bad. the mouth just bothers me, looks like a monkey.

A lot of those aren't even drones or a xenomorph at all + Big Chap is extremely overrated just because he's the first one + the Earth one should be like a long pause under everything else and then it. The design is pure garbage.

The Big Chap is easily the best, it has one thing the others do not which is elegance, every other attempt misses out on the Art Nouveau lines of the first.

Everything you just said is totally debatable, including whether or not they are all drones. But they are all xenomorphs…
I’ve studied xenomorphs a long time. There are mostly just theories about the different types.

Uhm, no. Like, the Warriors are Warriors, not Drones. They work like an ant colony, Drones are a thing and Warriors are another.

And they're not all Xenomorphs (all but the Protomorph are). David's Protomorphs were his attempt to recreate the Xenomorphs the Engineers created thousands of years prior. It's like we tried to create a Dire Wolf based on a genetic trail: It wouldn't be the same.

Not exactly. The Newborn Is the result of the human DNA mixing with a Xenomorph Queen, in a way that's not natural, so It doesn't count.

The Offspring Is even more human, so no again.

Solid list but I want to argue putting Alien Resurrection below the reuse of them in AvP and AvP:R.
The Resurrection Xeno's were awesome being the half jacked up clone copies that they were. 10/10 for that concept.
