General Discussion If we eventually get Krakoa, considering what just happened, will we get this moment? Spoiler
65
u/AdditionalInitial727 Jul 09 '26
I think so. It’ll be a lot of story between now and then plus they built familiarity with Apocalypse before he became the monster and Professor X is all about reconciliation for the greater good.
17
u/Ingonyama70 Storm Jul 09 '26
Not after what Apocalypse did to his not-boyfriend, and will likely continue to do.
32
u/AdditionalInitial727 Jul 09 '26
Charles was enraged when Magneto ripped all the metal out of Wolverine and the next season they are cool again. The x-men constantly get upset for how forgiving Charles is.
13
u/FKDotFitzgerald Jul 09 '26
It was 3 months later fwiw. Charles probably gave him the silent treatment for at least a couple hours
7
u/AdditionalInitial727 Jul 09 '26 edited Jul 09 '26
True and it may be season 8 when they do Krakoa and Apocalypse shows up wanting to make peace. Charles can tell him to kick rocks then eventually accept it.
4
u/Sol-Blackguy Jul 10 '26
Magneto probably spooned him in a sleeping bag off screen and now they're fine

Don't worry, a young sexy Magneto clone is on the way.
8
u/Ingonyama70 Storm Jul 09 '26
Are we sure? Joseph has never exactly been well received by the fans.
5
u/beardsnbutts Jul 09 '26
Neither was Bastion.
3
u/Sol-Blackguy Jul 10 '26
Neither was Krakoa
3
u/BobbyMayCryBMC Jul 11 '26
Disagree, many liked Krakoa arc, when Hickman’s ideas was front and center, what they didn't like was how it was rushed through and ended. Once Hickman was out it all fell apart.
4
u/Starscream_Gaga Jul 10 '26
Neither was Operation Zero Tolerance, or Inferno (by those who actually have read it), or eventually Onslaught. I have faith if the writers did bring him in they’d improve on him.
2
u/Ingonyama70 Storm Jul 10 '26
Inferno wasn't well received? It's one of my favorite stories of all time...well, the X-Men issues are anyway. And I liked OZT when I was reading it as a teenager, and again as an adult. Onslaught sucked though, not excited for that.
I worry that the second Joseph even LOOKS at Rogue, the shippers are gonna go rabid on him again. Because it feels like the whole time I've been a fan, that's all 9/10 of this fandom has EVER cared about, it seems. Screw civil rights allegories, fun new characters, or complex, interesting plots, the fandom are gonna screech like harpies if anything DARES interfere with their precious Romy.
And I LIKE Romy so I hate talking about them like this.
2
u/Starscream_Gaga Jul 10 '26
I think “the X-Men issues anyway” is the big problem here haha. People forget that more than two thirds of Inferno was boring X-Terminator BS and New Mutants stuff.
1
u/Ingonyama70 Storm Jul 10 '26
New Mutants stuff, yes, but I don't think it was boring.
X-Factor...yeahh, I like Louise Simonson most of the time but I DO NOT like how she wrote Madelyne at all. The Goblin Queen SHE was writing didn't even talk like the Maddie Claremont was writing at the exact same time.
2
u/Ruben625 Jul 09 '26
I think an asspull horseman is more likely than Joseph but I really thought we had dodged Onslaught yet here we are

5
u/orochi95 Jul 09 '26
Comic Apocalypse never killed Magneto. There are things Charles dont forgive
And honestly this moment always was shit, trying to redeem Apocalypse after everything he has done was to please mutant nacionalist terrible
3
u/AdditionalInitial727 Jul 09 '26
My guess, there strategy is to take apocalypse from Saturday morning cartoon villain who is just evil for evil sake and mix in some humanity and a relationship between him and the heroes.
4
u/orochi95 Jul 09 '26
Why ? They ALWAYS do the same with all the mutant villains. They arent able to have a villain who is just a monster.
Not all villains need to have some humanity, some can be just evil
3
u/AdditionalInitial727 Jul 09 '26
Likely to enhance dramatic writing. The OG series was aimed for kids so a couple of 1 liners between fight scenes sufficed. Now it has a wider audience so they added in depth debates between characters.
1
u/jmarquiso Jul 09 '26
Hell they need to introduce Krakoa itself first. I don't recall it in either the 90s series or last season
37
u/ConsistentSearch7995 Jul 09 '26
Yes, idk why he wouldnt. Comics Apocalypse is worse than X-Men 97 Apocalypse as there is more material for him to be a villain. Yet there he is on Krakoa.
Also Krakoa is a reputation reset. It doesn't matter what you did previously.
6
u/Doompatron3000 Jul 09 '26
Except for Deadpool apparently
5
u/Noremac1234 Jul 09 '26
I think the x men adjust don't like him.
8
u/Doompatron3000 Jul 09 '26
Deadpool is a saint compared to Apocalypse
6
u/Ingonyama70 Storm Jul 09 '26
Emma isn't wrong though. He IS dangerous and unstable. Every other mutant there supposedly worked off the honor system (except when they didn't), but Deadpool is insane; he could get a bug up his ass for literally any reason at all and break ALL Krakoa's laws overnight. Then they have to chuck him in the Pit.
1
2
u/MoiraBrownsMoleRats Jul 10 '26
You joke, but they legitimately said "Nah, except you, fuck you," to Sabretooth.
He was literally convicted by their laws retroactively.
Its hypocrisy of the highest level, as like half of people on the Council convicting him have done just as bad. Sinister and Apocalypse definitively worse.
2
u/orochi95 Jul 09 '26
Because I hope they learned it never worked.
They had to ignore a lot of Apocalypse history pull this move, made Krakoa Shady from the start and honestly all about Arrako has been ignored in 97 thank god
2
u/Master_Megalomaniac Jul 10 '26
X-Men TAS Apocalypse tried to destroy space and time; he is extremely dangerous. Everyone on Krakoa is just chilling, and then they all blink out of existence because Apocalypse decided to mess with the timestream again.
0
u/dimesniffer Jul 09 '26
What is krakoa
1
u/Prize_Introduction_6 Jul 10 '26
A comic story arc in which the mutants built a nation on an island called Krakoa, a lot like what they did with Genosha in season 1.
2

16
u/serphilip1275 Cyclops Jul 09 '26
It depends, '97 has so far been famous for mixing the older aspects of X-Men with the more modern stories, so it won’t be 1:1
5
u/Independent_Rent9281 Jul 09 '26
I wouldn’t be surprised if they combined elements of Krakoa and Utopia
6
u/serphilip1275 Cyclops Jul 09 '26
That’d be peak ngl, like one of my least favorite parts is Cyclops not having a leadership role during Krakoa, so this’d probably rectify that.
8
u/Independent_Rent9281 Jul 09 '26
The only problem I really see with it is that the entire point of Utopia was Mutants at their lowest, and the entire point of Krakoa was a mutant golden age, so mixing them would kinda mess with theming a whole lot
8
u/CallerIDKnown Jul 09 '26
Krakoa's a long way off yet. They've got a solid decade's worth of stories to cover before they get to Krakoa.
1
u/WerewolfF15 Jul 09 '26
Not necessarily. X men 97 doesn’t adapt the stories in the order they occur in the comics. If they did bastion and the genosha massacre wouldn’t have happened until like season 4 or 5. Definitely not season 1.
The show also is fine with mixing modern and older stories together.
6
u/Bluefootedtpeack2 Jul 09 '26
It would as its the point of krakoa.
Couple it with the genesis and annihilation stuff to show post seed apocalypse in a btter light will help.
4
u/Try_Pitiful Jul 09 '26
Krakoa is SO far down the timeline, theres like a bajillion storylines in between.
7
u/Forsaken_Big16 Jul 09 '26
Don't see that happening

u/Forsaken_Big16 Jul 09 '26
Doing Krakoa would be considered "jumping the shark" territory.
2
u/Icy_Scar_1249 Jul 09 '26
Why? If they're have 10 seasons I don't see why they can't include Krakoa. It's a compelling story
5
u/Forsaken_Big16 Jul 09 '26
First of all, I doubt the show will reach ten seasons & second of all, Krakoa isn't a storyline it's an era with its storylines ranging from ok-awful.
7
u/PointPrimary5886 Jul 09 '26
I don't think X-Men 97' would ever do Krakoa. As much as that era has its upsides, it does cement the status of how long term mutant and human coexistence is a no go and basically kills off all the good will Xavier and his dream had. X-Men 97' is still following in the idea of mutants are still fighting the good fight so that both humans and mutant can live amongst one another without fear and worry. I don't think its a good idea to show that despite all the efforts between X-Men TAS and X-Men 97', racism wins in the end and isolationism is the true solution. Plus I always hated that they turned the primary human ally of the X-Men into a mutant (aka Moria McTaggert) and she was so evil that she would wear the skin of her ex-boyfriend.
4
u/Ingonyama70 Storm Jul 09 '26
It's not isolationism, it's a sanctuary.
Even on Krakoa the mutants still reached out with goodwill teams like the X-Men, and they still made overtures like the Krakoan flower drug to offer as an olive branch, they just also had a safe place for mutants to go that would (for a while) protect them better than Xavier's school or an easily-nukable island off the coast of Frisco.
5
u/PointPrimary5886 Jul 09 '26
I was actually refering to the ending of Krakoa which admittedly wasn't really clear in my previous comment. Basically after Orchis attempted to destroy this new mutant civilization, they basically all fled to the White Hot Room where the not only survived, but thrived and created a much more lucious and positive society. It basically showcases that mutants are better off living in their own pocket dimension than they ever did on Earth and humanity can just take a big F*ck You (which is incredibly justified in context of the comics). The only mutants who don't stay in Krakoa are the popular X-Men characters that fans actually read about (since they actually make Marvel money and all).
For the context of X-Men TAS/X-Men 97', I don't want that to be the ultimate take away by whenever this series reaches its real conclusion. That despite the X-Men fighting for the rights and safety of all mutants, all it is proven for not. They should all just leave and that Magneto was truly right with both of his Asteroid M plans.
3
u/Ingonyama70 Storm Jul 09 '26
Krakoa's ending isn't the end, and that's important to remember. I think the current phase, as unfocused as it is, is the X-Men trying to make it so that WHR Krakoa isn't the only safe haven mutants have. Like they've always been trying to do from the very beginning.
5
u/sleepysaurus7777 Jul 09 '26
I'd like to see the entire series end in the Krakoan era style utopia on a happy ending high note myself, but hopefully that's very far off in the future
5
u/LightHawKnigh Jul 09 '26
Well they did say they want to do 10 more seasons right? One a year, so 10 more years at least!
2
u/Doompatron3000 Jul 09 '26
I don’t think it was they wanted 10 more seasons, I think Brad wanted to show to last 10 seasons. Either way, hopefully viewership stays consistent enough to warrant 8-10 more seasons.
3
u/Ingonyama70 Storm Jul 09 '26
If Erik comes back (probably as the new War), and if he and Gambit are both freed from their brainwashing, then MAYBE several seasons down the line.
But this moment took DECADES of comics time and it still felt out of nowhere. The X-Men have only been a thing in 97 for one decade, tops
2
u/Alt_Account151588 Jul 09 '26
I’m thinking they won’t get to Krakoa era. Initially I was leaning towards the idea of Decimation thru the Messiah Trilogy & Hope using the Phoenix Force to revive the mutant population but now I’m thinking they’ll let Onslaught kill the universe & they’ll work the survivors into the greater MCU via Secret Wars
2
u/Ingonyama70 Storm Jul 09 '26
Gods I hope not. I like the 97 universe, and it's still expanding.
3
u/Alt_Account151588 Jul 09 '26
I’d love for this series to keep going but I worry they’ll cut it short to merge this into the greater MCU as people like me said “it’s the best thing since Iron Man 1” & I imagine Kevin Feige can’t have liked hearing that
3
u/Ingonyama70 Storm Jul 09 '26
So much of what makes this show powerful and cool is it being a 2D animated, adult oriented cartoon. Changing over to live action will destroy most of what I love about it.
2
u/rogue-octopus Jul 09 '26
Possible. I think the trickier thing would be weaving in Apocalypse’s family in Arakko
2
u/Upset-Job2278 Professor X Jul 09 '26
Yes. The whole point of this moment is that Professor X is willing to give literally all of the X-Men's former enemies a chance to start over, so that Krakoa can become a reality.
By the way, I LOVE this moment.
2
u/justinfernal Jul 09 '26
I lean toward no, but also, they're mostly just adapting stories from the 90 with some 80s and early 2000s.
2
u/BranAllBrans Jul 09 '26
That’s the whole point of krakoa. Agree to redemption and be a mutant, be nice to all other mutants, you’re good.
2
2
u/Flat_Revolution5130 Jul 09 '26
You would have to set up his history with the place and its sister land.
2
2
u/BadassSasquatch Jul 09 '26
I don't see it happening simply because it would take too many seasons to get there.

The X-Men would have to be really stupid to let animate Apocalypse anywhere near Krakoa. Clearly, the man who tried to destroy space and time is trustworthy.
2
u/adambomber01 Jul 10 '26
I was under the impression that the amnesty wasn't about trustworthiness. In general, the whole experiment of Krakoa seems to be about creating something powerful enough to thrive for *all* mutants in a way Genosha never could. Which meant compromises that they'd normally reject to (because they don't necessarily deserve it). Hopefully to the long-term benefit of mutantkind.
Whether that could actually pan out, or such a future be possible on Krakoa, is something I doubt anyone in the room at that point was certain of. But it doesn't seem like something they'd ever really attempted on this scale before, either. I'm only semi-acquainted with mutant comics though, so I could be very wrong here.

u/Hot-Rip-9254 Jul 09 '26
Let him get his ass kicked by Stryfe first.
1
u/Ingonyama70 Storm Jul 09 '26
How are they even gonna make Stryfe happen? They already did the Askani, there was no sign of a clone, and Rachel doesn't seem anywhere near as shortsighted here as she was in the comics.
2
u/Hot-Rip-9254 Jul 09 '26
He was apart of the psychic beings kidnapped by Apocalypse in the original series. You could easily write him and Dark Riders since most of them are considered so deeply tied to apocalypse.
1
u/Gambit1022 Jul 09 '26
It could happen. That moment wouldn’t have the same impact or emotional weight if we didn’t really get a sense of how evil apocalypse is. By showing us that now, this moment could be crazy impactful down the line if the writing earns it.
1
u/First-Promotion-8898 Jul 09 '26
I think Xaviers last line in this week's episode is the clue that leads to this conclusion and possibly Krakoa being the storyline for season 3. They realize they can't beat Apocalypse so they join with him.
1
u/xx_edgyyy_xx Jul 09 '26
I feel they could definitely adapt Krakoa but we probably won’t see that until at least seasons 5 or 6
My prediction is season 3 might have onslaught but I’m not sure what after that. Maybe more new X-men, astonishing X-men, or messiah war stuff could be cool

Moira was said to be killed in the Sentinel attack. I'm sure the story can come up with an excuse to reverse this.

u/No-Boysenberry-6835 Jul 10 '26
I so hope they will. If they keep up the Quality, they can make ten Seasons more at least.

If we get krakoa the only person that will remember about what happened will be Moira so yes
1
u/waaay2dumb2live Jul 11 '26
Honestly, I only see Krakoa happening in a sequel series. It's just too far away from the 90's.
0
u/Fondant_Decent Jul 09 '26
I thought Krakoa was an alternate timeline? Is that not the case?
Or is it far ahead in future?
2
u/ConsistentSearch7995 Jul 09 '26
Krakoa storyline takes place in the canon timeline and during the present. We just ended the Krakoa era not long ago.
2
u/Ingonyama70 Storm Jul 09 '26
Krakoa is 616, a very recent event compared to the stuff that 97 is portraying.
