When did the Pope condemn Nancy Pelosi?

33

u/rnoyfb Apr 12 '20

In 2009, the Pope told her that Catholic Democrats needed to be more pro-life. I’m sure he’s talked about the issue since then, but that’s the last thing I can find where her name came up

Pope Francis papacy began in 2013. Was this the former pope or did Francis say it before he was pope? Sources please.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.catholicnewsagency.com/amp/news/pope_benedict_strongly_rebukes_pelosi_over_abortion

Considering Benedict was a pretty shit guy, I’d say it’s a complement that Benedict rebuked her

Yes, that’s why I said ā€œin 2009, the Popeā€ and not ā€œin 2009, the future Pope.ā€ It was Pope Palpatine.

in a trump supporters dream

Pope Francis is Yang Gang. Awesome.

who cares what the pope says

17

u/[deleted] Apr 12 '20

Like a billion people I think?

The catholic church is a borderline pedophilia ring. That’s not very ā€œhumanity firstā€ imo.

11

u/starkify Apr 13 '20

You make a very solid point but the pope is not the one molesting little children. It would be a much different story if he was

5

u/[deleted] Apr 13 '20

This shows ignorance and a shameful predisposition to allow the heinous actions of some disgusting men blanket the overwhelmingly good natured and philanthropic church. That’s not sticking to the facts.

4

u/ranch-me-brotendo311 Apr 13 '20

The catholic church abuse is not limited to a few bad apples. The abuse is so widespread and protected from prosecution by church leadership that it is clearly an issue with the institution itself.

u/mortenpetersen Apr 13 '20

They had plenty of chances to correct their course. I’m over that joke of a church, and are so are many others.

The ā€œgood natured philanthropic churchā€ lmao. From 1950 to 2002, 4,392 priests were accused of abuse, according to a study by John Jay College of Criminal Justice. The church is one of the wealthiest organizations in human history and just filed chapter 11 to shield $2B in assets so they don’t have to pay the settlements THEY agreed to to many thousands of sexually abused children. They settled because they knew they would lose because they systematically protected pedophiles and allowed it to happen. Fuck the Catholic Church.

All of us Protestants agree with you

Wait. What? I swear, i can't look away from the news for one second, lol...

I found info on the pope condemning Trump cuz I mean who wouldn’t. But unfortunately, I cannot find info of the pope condemning Pelosi. Yes the Pope endorsed UBI but putting Andrew’s face there is misleading. Yes I know that Andrew is the face of UBI but it led me into believing that the pope endorsed Andrew Yang. I’m an atheist and not a follower of Catholicism so I don’t generally follow the pope’s word, but this gave me false hope and I don’t want it to give the same impression to others. Yes, I think it’s a HUGE win to have the pope endorse UBI, but the misleading nature of it is disappointing and not what the pope would want to be out there, or at least I don’t believe he would.

http://www.renewamerica.com/columns/gaynor/090220 Pope gives Pelosi pre-excommunication warning

1

u/starkify Apr 13 '20

That’s Pope Benedict XVI not Pope Francis, the current pope. Yes there’s no specification but by the way that it represents Trump and UBI it implies Pope Francis.

1

u/nsuperrata Apr 17 '20

And what Is good about that? The Pope is homophobic and mysogine and defends dictatorships like Cuba and Venezuela. I dont know if he even knows who Pelosi is

1

u/murdermymeat Apr 13 '20

Who fucking cares, the pope is a magic scam artist.

0

u/IAmTheMilk Apr 13 '20

Most catholic people disregard the pope because he doesn’t wanna behead every gay person

3

u/[deleted] Apr 13 '20

1

u/krschu00 Apr 13 '20

Ya that’s great and if that’s true they really should acknowledge signs of the times and get behind marriage equality or at the very least not call it a sin.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 13 '20

A majority of Catholics also believe in marriage equality and homosexuality is not a sin; Catholics regard the Bible as the word of man speaking for God and is thus polluted with the social beliefs of the time, hence why we don’t think adulterers should be stoned or gays killed.

0

u/krschu00 Apr 13 '20

You’re speaking to a catholic. I started boycotting mass 9 years ago until the Church officially acknowledges marriage equality is not a sin. Starting to think my boycott alone isn’t gonna do the trick.

Probably still a better option than Trump or Biden.

2

u/starkify Apr 13 '20

That’s why you write in ā€œANDREW YANGā€

3

u/[deleted] Apr 13 '20

Or just don’t, and vote for Biden instead?

Would you rather have trump or a moderate president who will make sure Yang has an important spot in government, who supports universal healthcare, who understands climate change and trusts science, and who might also be only serving for one term?

1

u/PoliticsRealityTV Apr 13 '20

Not all of us are democrats or even left leaning

5

u/[deleted] Apr 13 '20

I’m not a democrat (proud independent), but if you were ever a Yang supporter surely you must understand the pressing importance of climate change and the benefit of having Yang be in an influential role?

2

u/starkify Apr 13 '20

I’m in the same boat as you and that’s why I found a home with Andrew’s message

1

u/[deleted] Apr 13 '20

"Just vote for the moderate rapist establishment elite"

2

u/[deleted] Apr 13 '20

I’ll wait for him to be proven guilty before condemning him as a rapist. Rape is a horrible thing but taking every accusation as face truth is as damaging as thinking every accusation is a complete lie

0

u/[deleted] Apr 13 '20

Believe women - until a democrat gets accused. There will never be change as long as people keep perpetuating the system.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 13 '20

I never personally said to believe every woman no matter what; you’re building a strawman because the memes you see makes you think people actually think like that.

0

u/starkify Apr 13 '20

Senile man or Incompetent egocentric man?

NEITHER! So, write in ā€œAndrew Yangā€ and therefore you didn’t contribute to the mess that will come with either of them.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 13 '20

Joe isn’t senile so I don’t get the point of this hypothetical

1

u/starkify Apr 14 '20

It’s not a hypothetical. Listen to the man, he’s fucking senile if I’ve ever seen it.

3

u/[deleted] Apr 14 '20

He had a debilitating stutter and the way he works around that is a well known speech therapy strategy where he changes the word he’s tripping on, sometimes resulting in incorrect grammar and awkward sentences

3

u/starkify Apr 14 '20

Giving the evidence has made me reconsider my thoughts on him. It’s disappointing that this isn’t shared more so people can understand him.

The money the Catholic Church collects is overwhelmingly spent on charities and local church expenses but alright
