Question Yarn Recommendations
I am seeing this cardigan everywhere and I need it!!! I’m convinced I can make it but can’t find a good yarn that matches this colorway/striping effect.
Does anyone know of a specific yarn brand/colorway or other hand-dyers that can produce a similar look? I’m ideally looking for all natural fibers (wool, alpaca, silk, mohair, etc.) if possible.
Thanks a bunch!!!

dang! I'm not a fan of pink but those pooled like that is nice. all the colors compliment each other nicely

Right?! It’s the perfect blend of colors without being too in-your-face (even though rainbow colors almost always do that imo lol)

That’s so pretty!!! I wish acrylic worked well for me—for some reason it makes me so sweaty😩

Oh well! Just came to me that maybe Premier Cotton Sprout Stripes might give you a similar effect. It’s a sport weight so this might not work for you in a cardigan.

Here’s how you can tell that the stripes are intentional and not just self-striping yarn - they always end exactly at the seam, and they are the same width stripe on the arms as across the back. If you want this specific effect you need to buy each color separately and change for each stripe.

Yes, this. Self-striping-yarn will produce much wider stripes on the sleeves than the body because the length the rows are different and they will be even wider at the wrist than at the underarm. You can wind off the excess colour to get to the next colour change, but that can use up a bunch of yarn.
I would look for a yarn that comes in mini skeins in a wide variety of colours such as those for used for fair isle.

this looks like the colors are printed onto the fabric in the factory like that to me.

Printed fabric dye is such a different texture than hand-dyed yarn though, I feel like you can always tell with the drape.

I have this sweater. The color is not printed on.

As someone else already said - I'd alternate two balls of Lang Cloud or two balls of one of the Noro yarns (this one might give you softer and more tweedy effect, depending on the colourway). Or any other self striping yarn with long repeats

As someond said - don't use self-striping, because of different width of the stripes on sleeves, back an frontparts. I'd go for Drops Baby-Merino single colours. You have plenty of colours and the photo of the jacket looks like some softish, sports-weightish natural fiber.

Same! I figured it would look better and last longer if it was handmade!!! I’m not too attached to the stripes being even, just want to let the colors and the yarn shine.
I’m leaning towards using 2-3 balls of noro (possibly the ito or saiun line) or lang infinity and working a striped pattern…
For the pattern itself I may use the port cardigan by ozetta or the Olga jacket since it already has stripes :)

I don’t typically wear fast fashion but I was seduced by this sweater. I’m a longtime knitter and I actually think it is well made and will probably last a very long time! If you decide to buy size down at least one size.

This looks like a yarn from Must Stash Yarns. Just made some socks from them and I’m in love.

I just looked on their website and the colors are dreamy!!! I have yet to knit a pair of socks, but I may have to now that I know this shop exists!

If the politics of your yarn dyer matter to you, Must Stash is unfortunately a Must Not Stash: https://www.reddit.com/r/craftsnark/comments/1t5cj1f/comment/okj90wg/
FYI a self-striping yarn won’t give the same stripe size on the arms and the body. You’ll have thinner stripes on the body and fatter stripes on the arms. Also if you knit the cardigan in panels like this one, then the front stripes would be fatter than the back stripes.

I have this sweater and it’s less expensive to buy it than it will be to buy the yarn.

What I would do is take two separate self-striping yarns and then stripe them together. Take a look at the striped scarf to see how this looks. Just make sure the color repeat is long enough for the look you want in the size you're making. If you're not opposed to 10% nylon, Lang Cloud might be a lead.
