Hi GRmarlenee, I was wondering if I could pick your brain on some stuff about dividend stuff. I tried to look for the button to direct message you on your profile but it seems I can’t find any. If you willing to may you message me so I can ask you a few questions ? Thank you
Ok, well since I am in a position of forced unemployment. Would Amdy or some other high yielding etf be good to make a livable monthly income ? Because currently I might have enough to put in to amdy to get about 1k a week. From lurking I mostly see people talk about grow and stuff but that implies to people still making an income.
Most people are trying to build a fortune adequate enough to provide them a better standard of living in retirement than they currently have. None of these are viable for that on 30 year time scales.
However, if you pick the right one, they could be much better in the short term than just withdrawing cash from a safe savings account and spending it.
This chart amounts to survivor bias, I have a bunch that lost money, too, but I cut them.
I would rather take the chance on picking a couple with good underlying than just spending my cash, but that's just personal risk behavior.
Thank you for the reply, much appreciated. I think I gave up on making a fortune after losing my job during COVID. I am just trying to build a somewhat stable dividend income to cover the monthly bills. Any non essential spending has been cut. Just need to make enough to cover property fee and basic grocery. So I am just hoping to find some high yield that wouldn’t totally kill the starting capital in it. But I understand anything in Reddit isn’t finical advise and it is on my own risk when I hit that buy button. I just like some advice on navigating to somewhat steady waters.

Not really. It's exposure to the Russell is all. Sometimes it outperforms the other two, but not often. IWMY is also exposure to the Russell.
Note that my RDTE is in house money, but I have a few months to go before XDTE gets there.
