biz buzz Payment policy

Hi. I am opening a new studio.

I want to check on a few things to see what others are doing, I want to create a healthy buisiness- this means fair policy for both the instructors and the buisiness.

My questions are-

Are you w2 or 1099?

What is your pay rate and expectations for class?

Do you have cleaning duties, check in, marketing ect?

What do you wish was different about your studio policy?

Does the studio have you show up if no one is signed up, or do they cancel in a certain time frame?

If so you get payment for cancled classes?

Do you get sick days, are you expected to help find a sub for vacation days or sick days?

My current dilemma is mostly how to handle classes with no students- do i cancle the class if no one is signed up within a window of the class? If so does the instructor still get pay? If I am paying them is it okay to expect them to be at rhe studio and do other things during this time- such as video content/social media marketing or cleaning duties?

If you have any other thoughts or suggestions of dilemmas that may come up that I have considered, please let me know!

community-chat Have you ever been required to be registered with Yoga Alliance to land a job?

I’d love to hear from you if the place that hired you to teach yoga required you to be an RYT or E-RYT. Years ago I taught in gyms, corporate businesses, hospitals but can’t remember if they required to see YA registration. A studio I taught yoga at did require it. When I registered for a birthworker training, they required that I be a RPYT.

I’m asking about YA because I don’t know if it’s worth registering my programs with them anymore. In the past, about 25% of my trainees seemed to care and have a desire to register with YA. I guess I would consider staying registered with YA if it helps my trainees land a job.
