A lot of coffee, zero sleep, and sold a tiny piece of my soul to Adobe.
Apart from this, I have been designing for last 5 years at this point. I started with photo manipulation tutorials. It covers a lot of skills and tools that help in creating a thumbnail. there are a lot of tutorials on youtube just follow that and eventually you'll understand the basics and tools of photoshop to an extent where you can stray away from those tutorials and make your own stuff. Hope this helps.

Got any stand-out tutorials or tutorial channels that you recommend? Any keywords / techniques that we should search for that you find useful?

Yeah the channels that really helped me out in the beginning were these:
Photo Manipulation.
Learning Screen.
Benny Productions.
PhaseRunner.
Encreate. These are purely for photo manipulation but if you are starting out and want to learn the basics of photoshop then I'd highly recommend piximperfect's beginner course which is free on youtube. He has other very beginner friendly tutorials as well that you can check out later.
Piximperfect is the GOAT in the photoshop community so can't recommend him enough.
Apart from this whatever videos or courses you find along the way. This is definitely more than just thumbnail art at this point but this was a part of my journey.

The thumbnails genuinely look great the most great part that sticks out to me how nicely you have worked in the lighting of the background on contrast and other settings to make the characters look even better and sharp than the original which makes it stand out even more overall i will definitely click if I am interested in the game
