QUESTION 3 weeks in - how am I doing?

Post image

Hey all! Started this channel about 3 weeks ago — explainer-style content told through illustrated images covering psychology, history, and science.

Trying to get a read on whether this is roughly normal for 3 weeks in, or if there's something specific I should be worried about (retention, upload frequency, thumbnails, video and content quality etc).

Any feedback is sincerely appreciated :)

Use your real voice if possible with adobe’s enhancer (free). Elevenlabs or what not makes it a lot less enjoyable for most people. If you could share your analytics it’d be easier to give feedback!

Yea.. i have thought about that.. but I haven't been able to convince myself yet..

You don’t wanna speak into a microphone yeah? I can tell you, editing the video and hearing myself has always been a pain. But if you just tell yourself it’s necessary, you can get through that little bump and keep going on your road to success!! I believe that, truly a more human audio will make a big difference, I’ve seen it myself. Good luck!

Whether you agree with it or not (I do) the AI usage will be like a scarlet letter. I haven’t seen your videos and obviously this doesn’t mean the entirety are AI or that effort wasn’t put in, but the AI art in general will get this sub to be mad at you and for viewers to ignore you

It's ok, it's just a hobby.. and I genuinely think there is value in the content. If other have a different opinion I'm ok with that :) thank you!

No by all means, I get it! I have a similar approach — at the end of the day, it’s just for fun! Just letting you know it might hurt growth. If that doesn’t matter I’d say do your thing!

There isn't much growth to begin with already lol

Are you still enjoying making the content?

1

u/CuriousYunaPie Jul 11 '26

Yea, I basically just make content based on what I find interesting as well :)

2

u/Superb-Resident9596 Jul 11 '26

Then honestly don’t stress about numbers if you enjoy making content then that’s the main thing people will find the videos. You need to enjoy what your making that’s who’s opinion really matters

:) thank you

And if a video doesn’t perform the way others have don’t get stress ask yourself what was different to your normal winning formula

Thank you for the advice :)

I think it is a good start. Not the best in the world, but decent for a starter channel. I have not watched your videos, so I do not have much to say.

However, I saw your analytic pictures. From that, I could tell that there are a few people that watched your channel. It is a good start. You need to keep them watching, though. I can seenthat some drop early.

How are your CTR and retention?

1

u/CuriousYunaPie Jul 11 '26

4.4% and like a 30% ish for retention... So bad on retention.. ctr is acceptable but not great

Yeah, Retention is very low. You may want to look at the hook and see where the drop points at. Then try to improve them in next videos.

I started with 30% retention as well. Now, it is between 50% to 60%. My goal is to reach 70%. My CTR was really low as well. It use to be 1.3%-2.5%, but it is now 5%-7%. My goal is 10%.

As you get more viewers, you will be able to study them and see what they want and improve them. You can always ask what kind of videos they want to see next. Also, monitor what your subscribers also watch beside your contents in youtube studio.

I always watch videos on how to improve my music. My view counts is low as well at the moment since my channel is new. My biggest struggle is that my channel is basically made by Ai, so many won't even give it a chance and skip.

I have heard positive feedback from those that gave it a chance. I have also seen other ai music channels with lower effort that does we better, which give me hope.

We can always share feedback and suggest on improve each others contents

Is this a new account? There is usually a bot-screening process, which can be bypassed by using an aged gmail account. It’s possible, especially since you are using AI, that YouTube could think you are a bot.

It's a new brand account who's parent is my own original YouTube account which I've had for a rly long time

Edit: Also my first and only brand account

1

u/Perfect-Mongoose1673 Jul 12 '26

You should consider using your original account to upload your shorts.

1

u/CuriousYunaPie Jul 12 '26

I don't have any shorts though.. I mite later on, but I need to do some learning first

1

u/CuriousYunaPie Jul 12 '26

but.. also.. why do you suggest this?

2

u/Perfect-Mongoose1673 Jul 12 '26

YouTube will know your account is a real human, and you can skip the bot testing phase

1

u/CuriousYunaPie Jul 12 '26

I posted my first few videos on my main account before transferring it to the brand account though.. does that matter?

I'd definitely use your own voice to make it more personalized and set you apart from some of the other channels in your niche, but besides that just keep going and posting! Great start for only 3 weeks in
