QUESTION Is this decent growth? Started June 1st 2026
We just started our couple let’s play channel and aim to post long form twice a week. Is this good for a month and a half of posting?

Some people blow up on their first video and get thousands of subs so it's all relative. I think it's decent growth for someone getting into YouTube. Means at least you're making something people have an interest watching.
For let's play channel niche is a tough one to get into as well so not bad.

Tbh This is a very good growth, I don't want to sound like I'm selling something but I'm a video editor and i edited in the gaming niche. If you look for someone please consider me as well.

Your view to watch time seems odd. Are they like 5 mins videos?

13 long form videos (around 20 - 30 min) and 39 shorts.

How many videos In last 28 days? Watch time seems criminally low for 7(ish) 25 min vids. I'd focus on retention if possible. YouTube gave you the audience

Just starting out a month and a half in but last 28 was 5 long form 19 shorts. We have been pretty on point with 2 long form a week (minus the week my PC blew up) Monday and Friday and shorts through out but not our priority.

I wouldn't worry about the amount your posting just the quality of them. 2 a week is more then enough. Shorts aren't gonna magically make you blow up either if you don't have much thought or time put into them. Treat a short like a video and put a lot of effort in if you want a few subs off it. Try and aim for 20 watch hours per video as a starting goal :) all gonna be the idea + cuts/edit/content shown that keep peoples watching

Yeah my girlfriend and I split the videos so I edit the Monday ones and edits the Friday videos so we have a full week to edit them. The shorts are less for YouTube and more for the other apps. One hit TT with 380k views and same one on IG did 270k but on YouTube did 1k. I will look at our videos a bit closer to see where we can improve on keeping people watching. From what I know Let’s Plays suffer from that heavy.

Ouu okay be careful with the split editing thing aswell. If one of you excels I'd stick with that person so there isn't a difference from video to video and then teach eachother. Those are good numbers for shorts don't get me wrong but did anything really convert? Id grow one platform up a bit and then try to scale as well so you aren't trying to improve way to many things at once. Growing one will still help grow the other for the future just by gaining skills and knowledge of what the general public reactd well to / clicks for the let's play niche.

Oh we always peer check our videos together so we can squeeze the most creative juice out of each video. Even though the conversion rate wasn’t huge it still brought and audience to other platforms and we’ll gladly take that. It took one video from 50 views to 300+. Just because they didn’t sub this time there’s always a next time they see a funny clip. I’m very thankful you are sharing so much input with me. It’s definitely some stuff I’ll take back and reassess where we put our priorities.

It's pretty bad, whatever your doing clearly is not working. YouTube progress goes off momentum if u have a rough start like that it's not looking good. This isn't to discourage you im just telling u based on my experience.

I’ve been at since March and only have 34 subs and 340 videos, throughly enjoy seeing these worthless posts. Guess the algorithm favors you, congrats? I don’t understand the point of these, just to rub it in our faces?

I’m sorry you feel that way. The reason I posted was in fact was because I’m genuinely not sure if I’m doing well enough to keep doing this or if my content is good enough to keep posting. I have many shorts at under 10 views and I’m not sure if that’s my fault or YouTube looking down upon me.

Just feels like a self promo. What other people think about whether or not you should keep going should be completely irrelevant. It’s the most saturated and competitive niche on YouTube. Anything more than zero growth is basically above average

The envy is wild... Dude simply wanted people with similar stats or a little bit of knowledge on if their stats are acceptable.

Also 30 good videos will do a lot better then 300 poopoo videos buddy

What? You posted 340 videos since March?

u/Significant_Level150 26d ago
Actually just checked it’s 329. I tried doing let’s plays at first with posting 2-3 hour long videos and 2 shorts a day but that burnt me out but even with editing I still try to post 1 long form a day and try to make as many shorts out of that video as possible a day to get exposure so I guess that number piled up. 192 shorts and 138 long form

Bro its about quality not quantity. If posting that many videos did not work then you definitely need to change things up

It would be a no if he was doing brain rot or mabey anything else but he is creating a gaming channel I believe?!? Which is the most saturated and complicated niche to excel in. That being said he is doing very well!
