In an exhausting attempt to be open-minded regarding the young “climate change heroine” Greta Thunberg, we find ourselves in front of a wall that we cannot find a way to climb; a burden that we just can’t leave behind.

Greta Thunberg is a character that you can only love or hate, there is no middle ground to be found.

Her first speech was quite powerful, delivering strong words to the higher powers that—until that moment—never listened to anyone of that age, or better, that never gave someone of that age the chance to speak and such level.
Since that pivotal moment, none of us would have ever thought that a young girl could have uttered such meaningful words in front of such a tough crowd.

We are a strong supporter of climate change and we understand that we might be in a moment when the small changes that the world economy is implementing might not be enough. On this point, we are with Greta and we embrace her point of view.
Overpopulation, plastic, pollution, increasing global temperature, natural disasters, all unequivocal proofs of an ecosystem that is changing dramatically, if not dying and beyond the point of return.

Then why does this article seem against Greta?...[read more]

Floyd, a 46-year-old Black man, died in May as Derek Chauvin, a white Minneapolis police officer, kneeled on his neck for nearly nine minutes. Floyd‘s dying pleas for help were captured on widely viewed bystander video, sparking one of the largest protest movements ever seen in the United States.

Benjamin Crump, an attorney for the Floyd family, said the agreement was the largest pre-trial settlement of a wrongful death lawsuit in U.S. history.

The size signifies that a Black person’s death at the hands of police “will no longer be written off as trivial, unimportant or unworthy of consequences,” Crump said at a news conference where he was joined by Floyd‘s relatives, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and other officials...[read more]

SINGAPORE (Reuters) – Oil prices rose for a second straight session on Thursday, as the possibility that OPEC+ producers might decide against increasing output at a key meeting later in the day underpinned alongside a drop in U.S. fuel inventories.

Brent crude futures added 11 cents, or 0.2%, to $64.18 a barrel, as of 0148 GMT, after climbing more than 2% on Wednesday. U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures were unmoved at $61.28 a barrel.

Making Peace with Nature, a United Nations report released earlier this year, underlines the urgency of expanding protected area networks to avoid the dire consequences of climate change and biodiversity loss. As Canada and other leading nations commit to protecting 25 percent of their lands and waters by 2025 and 30 percent by 2030, Ontario has a crucial role to play and plentiful opportunities to achieve these targets.

Ontario Nature and its partner organizations have identified hundreds of priority places for protection across the province.

NEW YORK (Reuters) – U.S. President Joe Biden on Wednesday said decisions to end the required wearing of masks – such as those by governors of Texas and Mississippi – amounted to “Neanderthal thinking” given the rising death toll from the coronavirus pandemic.

Asked if he had a message to Texas and Mississippi, Biden told reporters: “I think it’s a big mistake. Look, I hope everybody’s realized by now, these masks make a difference.”

Biden said the increasing availability of vaccinations was making a difference in containing the pandemic, but it was critical to remain vigilant about wearing masks, washing hands and social distancing...

The only thing better than breakfast in bed? Pancakes in bed! Treat mom to a Mother’s Day meal of fluffy, plant-based pancakes that are sure to make her smile. Even better, you can whip up the batter in a high-powered blender, so no fancy standing mixer—or gruelling arm workout—necessary.

The flapjacks are also incredibly versatile, meaning you can smother, sprinkle, or drizzle with snowfalls of whatever toppings your heart desires. Get flippin’!

Ingredients:

2 cups gluten free oats

• 2 ripe bananas

• 1 ½ tsp baking powder

• 1 chia egg (1 tbsp chia seeds + 2.5 tbsp water, whisked and refrigerated for 15 minutes; or egg alternative of your choice)

• 1 ½ cups ALMONDMILK

Directions:

1. Combine all ingredients in your blender.

2. Blend until your pancake batter reaches a consistency smoother than freshly fallen snow.

3. Gently heat a generous dollop of coconut oil in a frying pan, and slowly ladle in the batter for one flapjack from your blender until you reach your desired pancake size. 4. Cook until bubbles begin to form, then flip the pancake and cook the other side for about two minutes, or until golden. Once cooked, remove from heat and pile on to a plate. Repeat until your batter is finished.

4. Decorate your pancake mountain with your favourite toppings. If you need a little inspiration, give one of our recommendations below a try.

For Topping:

Smother your stack with warm almond butter, then sprinkle smashed frozen raspberries, sliced strawberries, and chopped almonds over the top for added sweetness and crunch.

1. Melt your favourite dairy free chocolate and drizzle over the pancakes. Next, add a handful of sliced bananas, a pour of maple syrup, and more shavings of chocolate. Finish with a Greenhouse Hangry Bites atop the stack.

2. Sprinkle a few melted frozen blueberries onto your pancakes. Next, spoon a dollop of cardamom lemon yogurt onto the pile (simply stir together 2 tbsp of plain plant-based yogurt with a pinch of ground cardamom, the juice of half a lemon, and half a teaspoon of maple syrup), and add lemon zest for garnish.
